Oh my thoughts on your planing officer would be what a a---hole he would more than likley have a lot more important issues to deal with than yours . so if i am extracting timber out of a wood and stacking road side on agricultural land ,and lets say its a busy time for hauliers and i cant get it moved for 6 mths or more i have to put a planing application in for change of use of the land and then when timber has gone submit another planing application for change of use back to agricultural land, what o total load of bollox , no wounder the councils are in a mess and they do fuck all productive they just piss about with petty tupney issues, Oh sorry we have just got a new swing/play thing on our playing field, it has cost about 4k and now it seems its not fit for use ,what a fantastic desision that was by the council on our behalf

if the timber has come out of forestry works i dont see any problem as forestry is in the agricultur sector all forestry tractors hauling timber can run on agri tax (free of charge) and run on red diesel, now if you was hauling sand with tractor it would need general haulage tax (approx £400) and white diesel, so stock piling /storing timber out of forest works on agricultural land is agricultur related as growing trees is same as growing wheat/barley/oates its a cash crop, if it was domestic arb waste being stored on agricultural land it would be a very different story , hope this makes sense and helps you out,.

hi i would say £10-12 per tonne road side but i think you will struggle on that one in that area as the new power station at Lockerbie was built and designed to burn all the brash and chip wood out of the borders,dunfries& galloway and Lanackshire , but someone got there sums sadly wrong on that one as 18 mth since they where taking saw logs in there to chip and burn as the volume of brash had been miss calculated.

you would have to have cs32 befor you went to do your cs 34/35 singular and mulltiple windblown and thats not for the faint hearted, so who ever told you that you needed cs32 before 38 & 39 is pulling your chain,

hi had a look this morning it looks like it has one heater plug in the in let manifold that is situated on top of the engine if you look under the engine cover its a square moulding in the inlet manifold with 2 elec items the top one looks as if it could be a heater plug , but not 100% on that good luck and have some plasters ready as they are so awkward to work on ,but at least theres one thing you dont have to do it very often.

its definatly got heater plugs or plug it may be just one in the inlet manifold i will have a look at mine in the morning and see what i come up with,

i take it its the 3 ltr older one or is the the new 2.5ltr ? start with the fuses,

how small are the trees i.e 200 300 400 mm ? and the only thing a steel wedge will do that either plastics or ali high lifts wont do is fuck your chain if you touch a steel wedge,

hi all depends on what it is ie red turkey english, with it being a small plot its not had fencing fixed to it has it ? is it fit for beams , framing have a ring round and see what people will pay you for it then work your costs out + 35% - that figure from sale cost and the figure thats left start by offering about 50% of that you can always go up with your offer but you cant go down,

dont know about a design fault more like a over sight on stihls side, they increased the out put of power on the 261 and continued to use the same clutch drum and bearing as the 260 , one dealer i know does a mod on them by machining the clutch drum out to take a heavier bearing and it seems to work well

i dont think any of them are its just down to the muppet, who either maintains or supposed to maintain it how many people on here take the clutch drum off and grease the bearing or replace the 70 pence needle bearing on a regular basis like once or twice a week if the saw is used regularly and lets face it in the present climate we have grease does not hold its viscosity so quickly vanishes, had a lot of stihls over the years ( inc 261s) and had very little trouble with any of them ,BUT one guy who worked with us had a 261 2014 and all he did to that saw was put fuel n oil in it and clean the air fillter now n then , 2 years later he tells me its fuckrd loads of play in the clutch drum ,we took it of put new bearing in and it still had play but no where near as much , put a caliper on crank shaft and it had a slight tapper on it ,so he took it to get it sorted about £300 later he had a saw that had no play in the clutch drum, so i gave him a £1.80 tube of grease and 2 spare 70p bearings and told him to grease it more often as if he had of done it more than likely been ok.

hi speaking from past lessons learnt , i looked at the debon trailers about 3 yrs ago when i was looking for a tipping trailer, looked at the 10x6 3 way tipper but trailer had its issues for me, price was right , but when i hunted round on the net for pre owned ones the value was a fraction of an ifor , found about 3 trailers for sale 2 in scotland and 1 in leeds the one in leeds was 18 mth old and was £1995 and the 2 in scotland went in a auction and made about a grand each, not good on the second hand market , personally i would just go and buy an ifor may be a little more expensive but you will all ways sell it and get most of your money back as ifors seem to hold up well on the second hand market, just my thoughts,

Hi i think you said something there that may be needs a little more thought, husky dealer near me is better at putting saws back together, why would that be ? my personal view is small saws husky and any saw over 60cc stihl all the way, if your may be going to use it up trees a lot i think i would be having a look at the 462 72cc and only weighs 6kg and will run a 25" bar, the reviews on youtube all seem to rate it, just my thoughts.

hi, i dont climb so cant vouch on that one, but i do go grounding for a couple of lads when i am asked i always say can you post me a holiday form as i find 95% of that quite easy, now today been in some wind blown spruce saw pants glued to my legs by 10am bitten and harassed by horse flies and many other fling things all day finish 3rd bottle of liquid at 2.30 and said bollox to it at 3pm got back to truck 29 degrees, but hardest job i have ever done by far was cutting to waste infected larch on a 50 -70 degree banking that was 1.1 mile long by 140 mtrs deep, fantastic job up hill and down hill all f,ing day .had one leg 2" longer than the o,there when we finished,

hi you should just be able to add another spool block on to the end of the spool bank providing you have enough roon then pipe to rotator,

hi some one on here was looking for cedar a couple of weeks back it has a good value and people will pay for it have a look round on other sites like woodlots you will sell it.

hi i will go along with J on this and would all so be interested in the figures as i think i am way off on a price i put in on one job, but on the other hand another price i put in was for a hardwood clear fell with some big straight beech in it (500=800 dbh) should get 50 tonne plus of the beech out of it and got a buyer at £3.60 hoppus foot, all so some nice straight oak poles about 12 and buyer will collect, and the rest approx 120 tonne firewood, ground is fairly flat and very dry (even last winter job could of been done with ease) longest extraction is approx 100 mtrs, the above i paid £12 per tonne for and i should make money on that on the other hand been asked about a first thinnings job in some spruce 12=15cm dbh 2nd crop so a lot of stumps and crap about on the ground , there has no figuars dissgussed yet but the more i think about it, its do the job and retain timber with no payments either way , timber would be either chip or fencing, less work in chip but less money , fencing needs to be more accurate on cutting to length all thoughts welcome.

your talking 2 different jobs in 2 different locations for 2 different customers yes you should charge travel from base , i would, but not if i am all ready there and if it was additional work on the day it would be £45 per hour as more than likely every thing we would need to do the additional work would be on site and set up ready to go. last time i was asked to do additional work on a job we was taking a ash down and customer asked about 2 fruit trees both past there best but only 10"-12" dia so not big quoted her £30 a tree job done in about 50 mins and a happy customer, from this been back to hers got another job of her brother and just got a 2k job of her daughter, so with not being greedy has lead to about 7 days additional work.
