  1. I bought the tow bar. It was £128 and fits to the skip. Apparently you had to take to skip off before but theses ones you can leave the skip on.
  2. Ended up buying one of these. So far it's been great and has towed the chipper in and out of the woods no problem. It's going to be a handy little tool.
  3. That sounds like a good idea, don't think I want the hassle of trying to sell on eBay though once it's finished.
  4. Plan is to start bringing out the timber as it's being cut to avoid handling it more than necessary and so it's not all laying around in the way while working on the trees. I guess I could stack it once it's down and then just hire a good machine in for a week or two and do nothing by ferry the timber out.
  5. Yes it's a high lift. £180 all in for a week, it's definitely going to do a good job.
  6. Hired in machine looks perfect for the job, just thinking that it's going to be wasted money that could go towards purchasing something. Quad and trailer would be even better but too much of an outlay at the moment. Thinking of adding an arb trolley to the set up so can also tow that around. All ideas, just would it work in practice.
  7. Thanks for the input everyone. Figured that hire costs are around £180 per week, we can only be on site for 4 days one week and 3 the other so that £360 will go towards the purchase of a machine. That's without the other days that it's going to be needed. Will always have it for the other jobs afterwards too. That looks so useful. ?
  8. One of the first things I thought was can I do the same sort of thing. ?
  9. The timber needs to be removed so it's going to be painful and slow bringing in out but even more painful having to carry it out one or two pieces at a time without some sort of machine.
  10. Where did you get yours from? I've been looking at the wheel version. Hire price is £140 plus vat for a week or an all round bigger better machine for £180 plus vat. Soon going to eat into any profits if I keep hiring over the coming months.
  11. I'm looking for advice or anyone's experiences with any form of power barrows. I need to remove a large amount of timber out of a small woodland, there are only narrow footpaths around the wood so no access for a tractor etc. I also want to use it to tow the chipper around the wood to chip up the brash. Woodland is flat and doesn't seem to get that wet. The work will be on going for a few months only doing a few days at a time every few weeks. Options of renting a skid steer every time will be expensive same for a power barrow so I was thinking of buying a second hand one for around £1500 just to help carrying it all out a bit at the time. Not sure if this would work or if you guys have any other ideas? Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers.
