  1. People are often quick to moan, its good to see positive feed back. I also had great service and advice from them, offering ideas and combinations of their products to solve my problems. Not spent any money with them though.. yet. Northern Polly Tunnels have also been very good and i have spent money with them... gulp
  2. You will soon loose weight and tone up in the this game! lol i have lost a stone in the past 6 months and my body shape has changed.. now i am "strong like bull"
  3. So were we discussing the price of Cherry? Its up to .76p on the isle of man, collecting a 1000l home oil tank to stock pile at this price as i very much doubt it will be coming back down!
  4. Hi, bench looks good, id look at fitting a honda GX160 which is 5hp with a 4 - 5inch B belt pulley.
  5. Looking good, how powerful is the splitter? is it gravity feed?
  6. Its friends of friends your probably going to attract as clients, keep updating the page with interesting photos of hard jobs and easy jobs. I would suggest you offer a 10% discount for anyone who comes to you through facebook? Another suggestion would be to ask the friends who already "like you" to recommend you to their mates and offer them a finders fee if any work comes in from people they recommend. I am currently amassing pictures of my scary machinery, log stacks, other clients log stores i manage etc etc and will be launching my facebook page shortly. Remember its not just the 90 (or so) friends you have its the 90 friends each of those friends have and so on and so on. But you have to have a hook... and money talks.
  7. When I have to spend an hour a week on my mower
  8. MS390 with 20" bar, very well balanced with excellent power.
  9. As the title says really, i am looking for someone to supply me with cord wood on a quarterly basis. Would need to be fairly convenient for Heysham docks. Looking for advice on the types of loads possible, costs and products available and when they will be available. Will have to be hardwood to make it viable. Keen to proceed immediately for the right deal. Please PM me. thanks in advance.
  10. Its fantastic, just what i need!
  11. I have the chainsaw file attachment for my cordless dremel, you can get loads of different file heads. I find the heads last for at least 5 sharpens, longer if you really keep the head moving to get even wear. Last file heads i got from the usa, they are diamond coated or something and do not appear to wear! The blades are around £1.50 for two and he diamond coated ones were $10 delivered for a pack 4 different sized ones. Personally i find that filing by hand removes more chain!
  12. God i wish i could simply buy in cord wood to process.
  13. The billett method has been recommended to me by two large equipment suppliers, their large pto/electric/petrol powered saws are ideal when used with the conveyor and horizontal splitter.
  14. Mad Max (fast forward the crap bit in the middle) Mad Max II The Road Warrior Mad Max III Beyond the Thunder Dome Back to the Future 1, 2 & 3 Shawhank Redemption Nude Nuns with Big Guns is possibly the worst film i have ever watched!
  15. I was told today that it was cheaper to ship logs to Sweden that it was to ship to the Isle of Man. Is it rude to ask what profit margin people are achieving storing and retailing logs? I was hoping that selling 5 m3 bags a week would make at least £150, dont think its worth doing it for less. Even at that i am having serious doubts, its all about shifting volume i suppose.
  16. Riko sell an independent hydraulic conveyor, from memory it was around £1800 and it looked really well made as did their saw benches. Might be worth while contacting them with your requirements they were really helpful with me and gave lots of options at different prices. http://www.alpinetractors.com/products/firewood/domestic/SCD600CSCD700C.pdf
  17. can you post the ISBN number from the book?
  18. I would say that they need to look at their tip speeds/gearing, it looks like that blade is turning far to fast! That is more than likely why it cuts so slowly, either that or the blade is really really blunt. If the blade is spinning to fast then there is every chance that the blade could break in quite spectacular style. I certainly would not want to be that close to it, which is saying something if you have seen the video of my saw bench. The sliding holder is superb though and i will shamelessly be nicking the design!! :-)
  19. Yeah i am on the Isle of Man, and what you have suggested is exactly what i am trying to do at the moment, except i am aiming to bring over an acrtic tipper which is 65 - 70m3. Bulk bags does not seem economical enough. Everyone (as in the suppliers) are very keen to try and sell their kiln dried logs, but all i really want is hard wood logs that i can put into vented log bags to season. Its early days but hopefully i will get something sorted in the next month or two. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for me pls feel free to pm me!!
  20. Yes all well and good if you can easily get cordwood, for those of us on islands things are somewhat different. Space is not an issue for me so would love to stockpile...
  21. But i can cope with an artic load.

  22. I really need hardwood as thats what my clients are craving!

  23. So does anyone have any good leads on Kiln dried logs by the pallet load? I am very interested in buying kiln dried and seasoned and unseasoned logs in by the pallet load.
