  1. I agree totally. Looks like you will be needing one of the splitters that operate in both planes. (not a 747 plane!)
  2. Vertical gets my vote.
  3. You need a retro 80s sweat band! great weather though eh :-)
  4. The way your government is at present i seriously doubt a petition is going to do bugger all to halt what they have in store for you. Sorry to be negative I want to stop them as much as the next man but i dont think a petition is a powerful message.
  5. sounds a bit gay
  6. This is what i had assumed it was for the last 2 months but yes i am positive is a crack. Dont know how i have done it but it must have taken some force to do. I have cleaned it with brake cleaner and also roughed it up with light sandpaper. I know the boys in a paint show well so ill drop by and ask about the innotec. Really want to try gluing before i buy a new tank casing, but out of interest is the oil tank separate to the casing?
  7. Hi All, been noticing a bit of chain oil pooling under my saw when left over night. Had a close look at the saw tonight, cleaned of all the muck and low and behold there is a hairline crack about an inch long. The crack is a cm or so below the oil fill hole. I dont really want to have to replace the case at the moment... So my first thought was epoxy resin but has anyone tried super 'cyano' glue on these plastic cases and had success? If i am pissin into the wind and need to just put my hand in my pocket for a new case please say!
  8. I created my facebook page a week ago, for log sales, i have gathered together info from all over the place telling people the best way to buy logs is by m3 etc, benefits of hardwood etc etc etc. i have pictures of my operation, my saw bench, my clients log stacks and most importantly offers i am running that week. Now i live on the isle of man which is a captive audience, if you run an advertising campaign on FB you ONLY pay per click on your advert. so you make your advert, choose who you are aiming at ie your region and it will tell you exactly how many people you can reach. In my case it was 35000 people from the IOM are registered as fb users. so you set your daily maximum that your prepared to pay, my case $10 and off you go. It has told me that my advert has been show on peoples screens that live on the IOM 75000 times since i started the campaign on sunday. I have 8 people liking my page that i do not know at all, who have all come from the advert. Will these people turn into sale.. time will tell.
  9. is it rude to ask what sort of return you are getting for this outlay in wages and processor etc ? Sounds like you really have the system nailed
  10. I can knock out a m3 per hour with me, my ms390, my tractor and 10t spitter. I am sweating alot though.
  11. Do you mean shedtalk.co.uk?
  12. Sorry went for my tea and something happened, but the daft 10min edit thing got me. Admin if you want to delete the above feel free. I dont like it either, i have actually been thinking about it since you started the thread, it boils down to what alex above says Tree tree surgeons. 'Arbor tree surgeons' How about simply 'Arbor Surgeons Specialising in all areas of Tree Surgery, Garden Maintenance and Large Wood Erections' I have found that its more than acceptable to have your business name and then a description.

  14. When dry it burns really really well, been using ivy from an ash tree as kindling recently.
  15. Thats a broad statement.
  16. Yeah my 390 has some wear on the case from where it moved in the clamp and i didnt notice. I ground the pivot mount to give it a rounded edge so that it cant happen again.
  17. Mine is the portek version too, you can run any size of saw on it as it clamps to the bar not the saw, and as i said it holds the weight of the saw so you dont get as tired. I run mine with a 20 inch bar but then again i have never used the top safety guard either! You can also cut some great thin discs of wood with it. Not really found much of a use for them other than coasters yet though!
  18. METAL CHAINSAW LOG SAW HORSE WITH HOLDER FOR SAWING | eBay UK I bought one of these about 3 years ago, its bloody brilliant, it has a clamp that clamps the bar of your saw to the pivot. One 17mm bolt, so you can use your standard multitool. Having the saw clamped into the saw horse means it takes the weight of the saw so you can operate it one handed. Feed the log in with the left hand and cut with the right. Mine has seen some welding and additional bracing as i am not that sympathetic when loading large pieces of timber!
  19. Productive day with the welder i'd say!
  20. Nice one thanks for sharing that, its all well and good people taking the piss but actual hands on experience is good to know. It sounds like i have too much work for a machine of that size! As you suggest ill pile up the brash i generate on my field and pay the £120 for an afternoon with a colleagues £18k bad boy!
  21. My logs are processed and stored in vented log bags and will be loaded by hiab onto my pickup, unless i am selling green freshly cut like i am at the moment. Selling green is great cause it cuts down on handling, ie from the splitter straight into the m3 bays in the van. As a result i am selling for £85 a cube, a theoretical discount of £25-£30 ;-)
  22. So have you used one and had it break?!
  23. TITAN-PRO 14 HP PETROL GARDEN CHIPPER SHREDDER MULCHER on eBay (end time 17-Apr-11 20:28:14 BST) Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this type of chipper? Am i best hiring a more expensive one?! lol Looks like it will chip up to the size i need cause anything bigger i tend to chop on my saw bench and sell mixed in with logs.
  24. So would Health & Safety
  25. You need to tell us a budget really fella. I use a Sthil MS390 for the majority of my fire wood processing work, rather than the standard 20" bar i currently have it running a 15inch bar and with this small bar setup it is very very torquey and flies through the timber. The MS390 will also run a 25" bar but thats oversized and not recommended for extended use. Its all down to budget and if your buying new or used. I also use a MS660 which is the muts nuts and my trusty old b&q pro 36cc lol
