  1. Has anyone tried the German police rain jackets? There’s a fella selling them around the marts and shows over here . A roofer friend of mine swears by them. look very well made with a removable lining. Bought one yesterday €100. no doubt I’ll know how waterproof it is before the week is out.
  2. What model country is that? looks like 974 or 1174. i ran a highlander 764 for maybe 5 years in the 90s. On decent ground you could average 35 ton per day on clearfell (cut motor manualy) maybe 25ton on thinnings . At the time that gave a decent profit, fuel was around a £7 for 25 liter per day and county parts we’re readily available, new and second hand when needed. i,am not sure if that sort of production would leave a decent income nowadays and running costs would definately be much higher. Also, work environment was pretty crude by today’s standards and fumes from glazed Ford engine couldn’t have been too healthy. much as I love Country’s, they had poor ground clearance and needed wheel chains to be any good in forest . id say ValmetValtra units would do as much work with more comfort for the operator. That looks an interesting unit and being a Country might hold its value, I suppose it depends what rates you can secure for what it can do for you .
  3. How about photos or a sketch of job and site?
  4. Wouldn’t be safe with that much weight, swing geometry would be crazy, a lot of stress on lift arm stabilizers. i would think toe ball is only intended for small trailer or chip bin off public roads. they seem to use dolly type set ups in Europe a lot more than here. There was a nice set up on here a while back with a long drawbar under chipper. i think it was a Jensen on a case or a macormack
  5. Was reading about this earlier. i would love to know what it was used for by its previous owners.
  6. Thanks. sorry, what’s ipl? sorry everybody for de-rail
  7. Very happy with 572. 20 inch, great all rounder. does anyone know if outside spikes can be fitted ? could do with them for heavy felling
  8. Pity you can’t tell him to shove it. whatever your day rate per man is, it’s worth that on top.
  9. Interesting machine . cant get into full ad on Mascus , don’t know why.
  10. Had a hatred of polesaws from my powerline days. Used to use stihl and tried echo and Husqvarna also. Must have had 4 or 5 at one stage and there was always one in for repair. i bought the battery husqvarna last year mainly for one job but now use it loads, mostly from basket. .Battery lasts hours as mostly only cutting 2 to 3 inch timber. also husqvarna polesaws and top handers don’t seem to fling the chain as easily as stihl ones
  11. What make is the crane? do the slew cylinders rotate with the boom? (I know, I’m sad)

    Farmi

Wilsons have a sheilsing 440 pto at the moment. Would handle most stuff you’d feed by hand

I think you’d need at least 90 horsepower for that chipper. The older farmis weren’t the best on conifers

Can’t see a problem with dismantle video. Didn’t notice where branches to close to boom tbh. fine to let all down if there’s a machine to sort after. When dismantling with mewp where theres not enough space for tractor/crane and chipping has to be done by hand we would drop for maybe 10 minutes then clear the deck then repeat. Easy to come down and help and no energy wasted getting back up again . i imagine Bobcat would destroy most of the sites we work on. An awful lot of shunting just to turn a limb around. mini digger/ grab/rotator much more efficient and gentle to site.also I’d say smaller area to rake afterwards. Just my thoughts Enjoyed both videos

Did nptc cutting from mewp using top handed saw. Cuts are pretty much same as with climbing and you are supposed to keep saw outside of basket
  18. What type of splitter? own engine or tractor driven?
  19. God damn zipper-heads!
