  1. Not sure how good one would be picking stuff up out of a cage(unless it’s a very wide one) More suited to picking off the ground or from an open pile. i could be wrong though
  2. I think the plan was (in Ireland anyway) that you claim back the duty on diesel purchased for non road use.
  3. They were talking about it in Ireland also , mainly because so much green diesel gets laundered by criminal gangs. Also it would push lots of small operators to getVat registered
  4. Just fit remote control to the feed rollers and continue to feed with mini digger. we fitted one last year , makes a huge difference. Rarely need a helper now. being able to see the feed rollers makes chipping a lot easier. also , tractor and chipper with crane added is a heavy unit with fairly limited reach, needs good ground and can’t really venture into tight spaces for bunches of brash. Mini digger with a few groundmats will handball stuff out of a lot more places.
  5. I respect the law and they’ve got a job to do. I don’t know about the Uk but over here they are one of the the worst to do work for. Especially the older ones. massive sense of entitlement, . ive been stung for extras a few times and slow payments, even one non payer. anymore I jack up the quotation and hope someone else gets educated
  6. Congratulations !
  7. Tipper and tow behind for everyday stuff. Tractor and pto chipper +tractor and grain trailer for bigger jobs. we rarely travel more than 50miles and have farmers etc who take chip and park stuff in most areas we work in so works ok
  8. Forgot about the front Tyres. almost impossible to get them to wear evenly.
  9. Rust. Clutch, electrics , engine, gearbox, diff. other than that , you can’t go wrong ! 05 model is supposed to be better than later ones. i had one for 8 years, worked it hard, replaced most things in it . Never cost too much to fix and it’s still going strong. gave a bit of niggly electrical troubles at times. make sure chassis is not too rusty, look out for bodgy electrical repairs. And the usual signs that it’s been looked after or not.
  10. Worth doing once a year, especially if you fill often from 5gallon drums. just drain tank and flush a gallon af diesel though a few times
  11. I used to have o lot of lower back pain but in my case it turned out to be from having fallen arches. long shift driving mini digger or tractor are often worse than physical work for back pain.
  12. An Irish opinion ?.: As a red raw trainee you may not yet have enough of a “feel” for the saw or the species and may not be fully sure how the piece will swing. The video shows a cautious, almost idiot proof procedure for a trainee to remove a simple section. After years of experience we take the skill, judgements and timing involved in “straight through” cuts for granted . As well as working from a basket or rope and harness it’s a lot of new stuff to get comfortable with. I can only speak for over here but I think a lot of guys are climbing with chainsaws before they have a clue how to use them properly. I think video may be intended for first time out before progression (for those who succeed)to more ambitious stuff under supervision .
  13. I didn’t say that ?
  14. Does stress control work from trailer lights plug? if so probably need to have parking lights on to get power to control box
  15. Probably don’t need to tell you to drive nice and gently with chains on. very easy to break wheel studs or even half-shaft if you hit a stump too hard with all that traction
  16. Very good point re. False sense of security.
  17. Yep. It’s a Cundey. my first off farm job was using one for pointing fencing stakes. £11 pounds per day 1984. should have put me off timber for life
  18. Hi. A friend of mine is hoping to build a sauna also. would nice clean macracarpa be suitable ?
  19. Cool! I don’t know how it works cope with our Sitka spruce though.. There was a delimbing machine being trialed over here in the 70s called a Tree Monkey , the old forestry guys had loads of horror stories about it.
  20. Never heard of these. What does it attach to?
  21. 2.9ton
  22. Not depressing at all. mini loader for late February, all going well?
  23. 8 cans of carlsberg and a new toothbrush
  24. Never seen one like that. I see it’s husqvarna. interesting to see how effective it is .
  25. Thanks for sharing ?
