  1. news to me! Which dept is the wood?
  2. Strangely I love the fact that Tree-Surgery is lacking regulations. The "cowboys" can do the little easy stuff, good luck to 'em. Leave the real climbing to us. The fact that we move sites every day means that by and large we work without the interference of HSE etc. I would wager that a lot of the people who complain about unregulated Tree workers would be the first to rail against about 'elf and safety if the whole industry was in lockdown...... Just a thought.
  3. Well yeah, mea culpa, It's just whenever I have been close to a national news story, it seems that whatever the papers write is completely dislocated from the truth so I take anything they say with a very large pinch of salt.
  4. Milling in your back garden? bet you neighbours love you!
  5. Lies, damn lies and statistics. when they say "figures suggest" you know it's The Mail talking BS
  6. I doubt he was on his own. News programs are often sketchy on detail.
  7. Yeah, good luck with that.
  8. oh right, you were serious (backs away cautiously)
  9. Brilliant! funniest thing I've seen on here in ages:thumbup:
  10. Looks ok, personally I would but if you need to ask, I think you already know.
  11. Forget all the homespun remedies, they don't work. Over here there is a device called a "detauper" Taupe meaning mole. It's a little explosive cartridge that you put in the hole and it explodes when it touches a plunger, too complex to explain but very simple to use. Since I bought this little miracle I have blown up a dozen or so and my garden is clear, I cannot speak too highly of them!
  12. flash so and so:001_smile:
  13. Thanks, I learn a little something everyday:001_smile:
  14. You and that grinder should get a room! mind you winching out stumps is medieval!
  15. :001_smile:Well done, now what do they qualify you for? just asking.....
  16. Richard Court, near guildford, google it.
  17. Ps if I were you I'd lock this thread now before it gets away from you, sounds like you've had enough advice, Mick

  18. Surprisingly good, just keep the chain sharp, and of course will last forever if not worked too hard on iron hard dead wood.
  19. Agreed, anything less is not enough, (or equivalent greenmech, jensen etc)
  20. Having done the misery of railway work on the odd occasion; I love that machine!
  21. Strictly speaking an amphibian....
  22. If it was you intention to show that a meaningful reduction of a Scots like that is possible (as earlier claimed) I don't think you succeeded. Capiche?
  23. I think Parametrics does have a clue, but he was asking for expert advice,(which he got) But I knew sooner or later someone would start throwing out unwarranted insults because dared to have a (valid) opinion on reducing Scots Pines. You do not need to be an Arboromaculturalist to figure out the flaw in reducing those.
  24. Very good:lol:
