  2. It's a hard world Make the most of your opportunities and make opportunities
  3. Can you not just agree to monitor it for 12 months then make a decision after that- would be very professional- From your photo- the remaining tree looks in good nick if a little old. What is your gut feeling
  4. Just looks like some fungus on a dead stub Shame to condemn the tree because of this- looks from the background that it is in an important area. They would probably like to keep it- Don't ever forget that there's some pretty knowledgeable members of the public out there some of whom may even be reading this forum
  5. I'm sure the answer is in airflow not just an enclosed building. Somewhere with a roof on and open sides would tick all the boxes. Putting them in a glasshouse would depend on how easy you could get them in and out and whether the work is worth it
  6. Word of mouth is best in all areas Spend more time on the job rather than time/money on advertising is my attitude- your work is your best advert Let your customer be your advertiser But it's not easy when you start as you don't have a big bunch of customers doing this for you- Talk is cheap- Use a business name that doesn't sound too cheap Not sure I should be giving all these gems away- I'm sure you'll find your own way:thumbup1:
  7. trouble with me is i'd do the beer can thing but still get the sweep in:confused1:

  13. Climbing in wellies when it rained Damned arbrex customer expects crap Bowsuns chair Chomping up brash 8ft up on the back of the truck Never using the chain brake Never hearing the phrase Health & Safety People stopping in the street to watch you strimming We used to get queues forming to watch us chipping:001_rolleyes:
  14. You're climbing with ropes- even a secateur you may fall get hurt- need aerial rescue. Hedgecutters though- I assume you're talking about on the ground- more likely to take your fingers off IMHO
  15. Nip round your local hospital- you only need to spell tree then- or even 3:001_smile:

  18. Just noticed it's in New Zealand So you get that attitude over there to do you:sneaky2:
  19. you must know approx which house benefitted from this
  20. It's gotta depend on how sunny/windy it is where u are storing them. Also what time of year they were cut. The idea of treating each type of wood specially is in my opinion a waste of time(with some exceptions obviously)
  21. I think there are numerous issues with vat on protective gear- this is not a luxury at all. Question- Is there vat on childrens protective head gear - there isn't on clothes though you'd think there was the price they are. Some retailers charge vat on steelies others don't- If i wasn't vat registered i'd say whatever i had to to get the non vat price- obviously this can't be right
  22. Thats interesting I have 3 works vehicles- can they be all put on a fleet policy and what happens to the NCD when one has an accident- does a fleet policy actually save money?
  23. That'll be th only one you ever have:001_rolleyes:
  24. By downturn- I assume you're worried that some clients will use someone else In my experience -the only way is up Just means you work harder at keeping people happy- Just console yourself that being now registered means you pay about 90pence per litre for diesel- Claim back VAT and set against tax:biggrin:
