  1. my thought too:confused1:
  2. It does look pretty genuine though the painted bar would worry me. Otherwise not much evidence of damage Remember though it's not unusual to get 20% discounts from some dealers on stihl so bear that in mind when bidding- you also get a ticket for your books- also get VAT back if registered- I'm sure you know all this it's just that I am sceptical when it comes to second hand- but thats just me. Also amuses me when people post to forums on an item that will probably mean increased numbers bidding on that item now:biggrin:
  3. greenfly definately love sycamore- little critters:sneaky2:
  4. also believe what hugh and jamie are trying to do by getting the consumer to ask for different fish is the right thing it will improve the whole industry and be better for fish stocks and fisherman thats if enough people actually go and buy something different. Been eating more mackerel over the past few years- If you have to buy tinned then buy it in brine and add any seasoning you want as you don't get such an aftertaste as in oil or tomato I really wish I could but it from a chippy in a bap- sounds delicious with tartare sauce- Good recipe Hugh
  5. I'm not sure i love it in uk but it's a great place to develop a business (generally) and from that see the rest of the world. UK winters are a bit crap but it's all relative and give me a bright winters day any time over scorchio when you've gotta work- specially chainsaw gear on sort of work
  6. dedicated room with a heater and extractor fan in it- does the job most days. Can't stand putting on wet gear- the jobs hard enough as it is.
  7. Don't the Norwegians have a scheme where they land the over quota fish but get fined for it so the fish arn't wasted but the fishermen arn't encouraged to fish for them specifically if you see what i mean. Also to add to this debate- believe it or not some of this discard does make it back to the markets. Just- not legally. Let's face it- we'd find a way wouldn't we fellas:thumbup1:
  8. Do you mean the examiner would allow the chalk thinggy?
  9. neighbours eh? just get on!
  10. Thats such a good way of putting it I've still got guys who just wait around for instruction:thumbdown:
  11. I'd like to but my other half is a bit more clued up and sensible etc:001_rolleyes:
  12. Sorry- haven't been following this recently £120 on fuel spent Now since 4 jan £20 is VAT= claimed back from vat man £100 is allowable against tax @ say 23% or 40% depending on how rich you are So £23 or £40 claimed back £120 of fuel costs you £77 or £60 compared to someone buying it privately Good innit
  13. try fisheries/golf courses etc or build up a data base
  14. £50 per hour is £800 per day for 2 guys working with danger and shed loads of gear. I think they take the proverbial Servicing should be about £25 per hour max
  15. just keep a check on your weekly turnover standard business practice i'm afraid then you know you're a business man or woman
  16. most damage to me is from chipping dead wood flying back at you- is a git
  17. If you think you need a wax and polish daily then claim for it simples getting a receipt though is a pain- specially with them immigrants oops borderline
  18. old but good:thumbup:
  19. Ok You could drop your prices short term and still feel like you've made enough profit but What about when the machinery needs replacing/ servicing/ insurances need renewing. It would only be a short term thing and then with the rider that the work was undertaken before end Feb. Still think £400 per day + VAT is about right- anything more is a bonus and can be achieved especially when you are busy and pricing high.
  20. if i drive my rangerover round will you fill it up For a discounted price obviously:thumbup:
  21. It's a hard world Make the most of your opportunities and make opportunities
  22. Can you not just agree to monitor it for 12 months then make a decision after that- would be very professional- From your photo- the remaining tree looks in good nick if a little old. What is your gut feeling
  23. Just looks like some fungus on a dead stub Shame to condemn the tree because of this- looks from the background that it is in an important area. They would probably like to keep it- Don't ever forget that there's some pretty knowledgeable members of the public out there some of whom may even be reading this forum
  24. I'm sure the answer is in airflow not just an enclosed building. Somewhere with a roof on and open sides would tick all the boxes. Putting them in a glasshouse would depend on how easy you could get them in and out and whether the work is worth it
  25. Word of mouth is best in all areas Spend more time on the job rather than time/money on advertising is my attitude- your work is your best advert Let your customer be your advertiser But it's not easy when you start as you don't have a big bunch of customers doing this for you- Talk is cheap- Use a business name that doesn't sound too cheap Not sure I should be giving all these gems away- I'm sure you'll find your own way:thumbup1:
