  1. 7.30 -4.30 5 days a week with some saturday morning especially during busy periods. Sometimes some of us work till say 5 or 5.30 if a long way from home I don't want to just work work work though i understand some do
  2. Now bear in mind how much you want the work also who else is pricing Is it cash To cap it all, if this is your intended line of work then what you are going to be doing come end November Good luck
  3. £30 would be a good starting point take off for easy access/compost on site/trusted payer/closeness to work base
  4. For what it's worth we use welding gauntlets when working with thorns- They'rs not waterproof but are pretty thorn proof and only £2.50 each
  5. Fair play that girl When you posted this I half expected some on here to take the proverbial. It's refreshing to have someone bigging themselves down and I applaud your honesty. It's been identified that your saw was the main problem and that will chime for everyone experienced on here. Now you need to learn sharpening to a fine degree and if you really find it isn't working then get a few new chains so you are reminded how good a properly sharpened chain should cut. This will make you learn the skill as this is often the issue with saws. Not many on here will not remember their c30 & 31 course- we all came away with memories and I think also a headache from learning so much so quickly. Get your climbing tickets and there are so many more avenues for you to branch into. Brilliant:thumbup:
  6. It does look pretty genuine though the painted bar would worry me. Otherwise not much evidence of damage Remember though it's not unusual to get 20% discounts from some dealers on stihl so bear that in mind when bidding- you also get a ticket for your books- also get VAT back if registered- I'm sure you know all this it's just that I am sceptical when it comes to second hand- but thats just me. Also amuses me when people post to forums on an item that will probably mean increased numbers bidding on that item now:biggrin:
  7. greenfly definately love sycamore- little critters:sneaky2:
  8. also believe what hugh and jamie are trying to do by getting the consumer to ask for different fish is the right thing it will improve the whole industry and be better for fish stocks and fisherman thats if enough people actually go and buy something different. Been eating more mackerel over the past few years- If you have to buy tinned then buy it in brine and add any seasoning you want as you don't get such an aftertaste as in oil or tomato I really wish I could but it from a chippy in a bap- sounds delicious with tartare sauce- Good recipe Hugh
  9. I'm not sure i love it in uk but it's a great place to develop a business (generally) and from that see the rest of the world. UK winters are a bit crap but it's all relative and give me a bright winters day any time over scorchio when you've gotta work- specially chainsaw gear on sort of work
  10. dedicated room with a heater and extractor fan in it- does the job most days. Can't stand putting on wet gear- the jobs hard enough as it is.
  11. Don't the Norwegians have a scheme where they land the over quota fish but get fined for it so the fish arn't wasted but the fishermen arn't encouraged to fish for them specifically if you see what i mean. Also to add to this debate- believe it or not some of this discard does make it back to the markets. Just- not legally. Let's face it- we'd find a way wouldn't we fellas:thumbup1:
  12. Do you mean the examiner would allow the chalk thinggy?
  13. Thats such a good way of putting it I've still got guys who just wait around for instruction:thumbdown:
  14. I'd like to but my other half is a bit more clued up and sensible etc:001_rolleyes:
  15. Sorry- haven't been following this recently £120 on fuel spent Now since 4 jan £20 is VAT= claimed back from vat man £100 is allowable against tax @ say 23% or 40% depending on how rich you are So £23 or £40 claimed back £120 of fuel costs you £77 or £60 compared to someone buying it privately Good innit
  16. try fisheries/golf courses etc or build up a data base
  17. £50 per hour is £800 per day for 2 guys working with danger and shed loads of gear. I think they take the proverbial Servicing should be about £25 per hour max
  18. just keep a check on your weekly turnover standard business practice i'm afraid then you know you're a business man or woman
  19. most damage to me is from chipping dead wood flying back at you- is a git
  20. If you think you need a wax and polish daily then claim for it simples getting a receipt though is a pain- specially with them immigrants oops borderline
  21. Ok You could drop your prices short term and still feel like you've made enough profit but What about when the machinery needs replacing/ servicing/ insurances need renewing. It would only be a short term thing and then with the rider that the work was undertaken before end Feb. Still think £400 per day + VAT is about right- anything more is a bonus and can be achieved especially when you are busy and pricing high.
