  1. It's not going to be easy as put yourself in your neighbours shoes- would you move to a residential area and put up with too much noise/ vehicle movements. Do what I did years ago- just do it/ keep on good terms with your immediate neighbours and hope no one complains. If you go through planning I reckon someone will object! Getting a farmer to sell you a piece of land for you to erect shed could be your best bet but planning will still want to know. The other option is to buy an industrial unit and pay business rates- these are not too high- it allows you to conduct your business with your head held high- you can recoup the cost of the unit when you sell making it effectively rent free. Business rates with rate relief about £80-200 per month depending on size and council. It's just great to have your business separate from you home and be free from landlords.

  6. Just wondering if setting up a blower/fan would satisfy the gas men- blow all the gas away- These guys -given the job of making everything safe and just go at it 110% to make themselves appear indespensible.

  8. i've used these hydraulic splitters and whilst they seem good to start with they don't split as well- more tearing. Plus toooo slooooowwwwww there's also a lot of lifting up to do. Not my choice at all- sold mine in the end

  11. can't understand why those sawdust log things are so expensive Its a waste product / doesn't look like or burn like a log/ cost extortionate/ I would pay about 30pence a log if I didn't have my own wood - that price would seem about right- about 300 ecologs for £100- yup- that's about right

  19. this step cut idea seems to me to be a reason to utilise extra equipment to justify a high price to the customer. The 'Oh I couldn't do that cos I haven't got a bulldozer' For that alone- It's a great idea:biggrin:

  22. personally wouldn't touch northern tool ever again they did the dirty on me several years ago delivered a broken heater which we only discovered over 24hrs later as it had been delivered to the farmers barn. They refused point blank to offer a replacement or refund as they said their terms and conditions required us to notify them within 24hrs. Absolutely........... Sorry..... just reminded me of them!
