  1. I'd love to know the definate answer to these questions Like do you need a ticket to use a saw bigger than 15inch I'm sure you do but Do you really How many on here use a 36inch bar with a cs 31 ticket
  2. Not getting at you mate but I would have mentioned this as he brought it up first I'm just as guilty though- always thinking of the perfect response when mulling it over at some later time Don't let him bully you. Phone him up tomorrow and say you've considered his position and you will return his cheque and collect the wood. You keep your pride and he has to find someone else to deliver more dry wood.
  3. Have to mention the obvious How come he isn't using the old chap then?
  4. They seem to recover Perhaps they develop resistance in time but they do grow out of it
  5. In my experience they grow out of it
  6. Can you not use cable clips- the ones you hammer your electric wire in with In black they would be invisibleish
  7. you can lead a horse to water
  8. people will always say you're too expensive If you really want expensive B&Q are offering nets of H/W for £7.50 this year 10 logs Yes I do realise this is a different market but thats an uplift pricewise on last year of about 20-30%
  9. just don't use builders bags they weigh too much when full- H&S issues bound to give you back trouble some time use large polythene- and hold open with feet raking backwards into the bag You will never look back
  10. when you've had your own chooks you'll never find supermarket eggs that come close for taste and freshness= fact
  11. Apparently mercedes do one on their sprinter But what tree surgeon uses a sprinter I hear you ask
  12. Just what I was going to post
  13. Not that many pubs round here I'd recommend though a long walk gets me to some good ones- fortunately it's the crap ones that have closed But theres a cracking micro brewery kentbrewery.com up round gollums way £1.50 a pint for 4% pale that keeps for about 4 days and doesn't need settling. Worth dropping into if you're ever near Rochester/Maidstone Comes in 18pint casks which at £27 is good value I think Tastes fantastic and doesn't leave you feeling hung over. Didn't see any barmaids though:thumbdown:
  14. Me too as supervisors ticket with 2 operatives tickets too. Would prefer to do chapter 8 with arb types not road crews
  15. Surely your insurance would allow you to replace then they foot the bill Might be a risk but you got to do something as you will be losing money by not working Good luck
  16. Thanks That makes it clear We have been following other rules but I see the sense in what you say I can now load my truck up fully to 3.5t (cabstar) plus tow a TW150 Previously I thought the 750kg had to be taken off the GVW meaning not much chip- would have been silly really
  17. Just checked maximum authorised mass on the dvla website It says max weight of vehicle or trailer but doesn't distinguish What I mean is Does this mean you can have a vehicle rated 3.5t GVW fully loaded(including everything) PLUS tow a trailer (up to 750kg on B and up to 7.5t on B=E) VOSA overtook me the other day with a fully laden truck plus towing a chipper and didn't pull me over- though they may have taken pity...... There's definately some confusion on this one
  18. It's not a dumb thread but I suggest the thought of it has upset you. It's interesting to get peoples views and I anticipate that some are venting for reasons they won't go into. Maybe the way managers are selected needs looking into- is it for the respect on the tools they engender or maybe- do they have specific people skills. Needless to say a bad manager can have a dramatic effect on any firm and ultimately jobs. How do they get in that position- are they appointed by owners to take the crap and make them (the owner) look better Do they get the job by default- no one else wanted it Do they just get too old to work efficiently on the tools and get promoted out of owners loyalty to his/her staff and is this really a bad thing What percentage of managers are respected and work staff hard creating good wages- good investment in tools All these questions are relevant IMO we need great managers or maybe some sort of responsibility taken on by staff to replace the role entirely. Forward thinking stuff
  19. Just something I picked up from others comments and from 30 years in the trade. What is your opinion of the boss/ manager you have Do they contribute to the firms financial wellbeing or are they a drain on resources only meaning you work harder for less. Would you as a group be able to cope without their input That sort of thing I appreciate some of you won't be able to comment and please don't contribute in a licky anal way 'cos you know they are reading this.
  20. I had exactly the same problem and solution in the eighties- my darling wife still brings this up regularly. - as in arn't men just useless
  21. Is it because we give them the leeway we would like and hope to receive from our customers- if you get my logic- I prefer my customers not to be perfectionists because, whilst perfectionists perform good work, they are a pain to work with
  22. My top tip is Don't try and do everything yourself Give others a chance to shine If they do shine-then give them more chances then more money then your job- then move on:biggrin:
  23. All day on one charge- thats fantastic Cable from backpack to top handle a bit of a pain use with telescopic- that looked brilliant- keeps the saw combo nice and light and no fumes in your face Power- a bit of an issue and that was with probably a new chain Sparks? well that depends on whether some git has driven a nail into the tree or not. Noise? thats a big plus Eco- well that depends on whether the battery can be recycled and whether you use 'green' energy to charge it up
  24. I'm gonna try to keep quiet on this because sometimes theres only one hand signal for a climber:lol:
