  1. Perhaps he wants to invite you round for Christmas or for a meeting in a layby for a bit of "Hows ya Father" Aren't you the lucky one
  2. If that is the case, Husqvarna are using it as a marketing tool so products come up on google etc. That is the only way a manufacturer should run an online shop - just as a marketing tool and not as a sales vehicle to undercut/undermine the agents!
  3. I was in the PC industry and Dell had the strategy of a direct model of supply........ manufacturer direct to the end user and most others had the more common strategy of ........manufacturer to distributor to reseller to end user. The direct strategy is usually taken to reduce the levels of supply and therefore handing the manufacturer a larger margin and usually undermines the added value a good distributor or reseller can add to the sale. Dell eventually rescinded after taking a beating from tablet sales and took the more typical distribution model rather than the direct supply route and have since invested in acquisitions at a tangent from PC system building. Interesting times, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next six months but would have thought strengthening their supply channel and ensuring a decent spare parts channel would be better then unsettling their agents as I would think this would do!
  4. I guess if the bank you have your money with pisses you off then shift your money. Eventually they will understand that the customer is king and without them, they won't have a business! Seems pretty obvious that the customer may want to shift some money or purchase something once in a while and it is sometimes pretty bizarre the lengths they go to to stop you withdrawing your own hard earnt!!!!
  5. Seems to have gone quiet on this one. You usually get the true opinion from the guys at the sharp edge selling the kit and trying to make a living.
  6. Edge of tomorrow - interesting concept, very funny and entertaining. Any Mad Max film before beyond the Thunderdome. The Good Bad and Ugly That'll be the day Qaudrophenia Italian Job Layer Cake
  7. Air leak, holed fuel line, blocked gauze strainer - take your pick!
  8. Plastic roller retainers go to the outside otherwise they impinge the crank!
  9. Depends on overall condition - ebay - £120-180, private sale £100 if it looks OK in semi reasonable condition.
  10. Yup, explain how it will benefit your resellers, agents, dealers etc
  11. It is bad....or good depending on your marital arrangements
  12. Seen it before in a completely different industry and is generally when a manufacturer thinks that they can do better than or disrespects the distribution network (The Chanel). Generally the distribution network gets pissed off, the local support and knowledge base for that manufacturer goes in to free fall and it benefits only the competition as the distribution network sell more lucrative products that make them money. I had similar in my previous job, we used Ebay as a marketing tool, advertising product at the RRP, expecting to sell nothing but helping interest/marketing for the product - that is how it should be done, using online content to drive interest. Unfortunately, the issues arrive when someone in authority thinks the company should be selling so lowers the price and your distribution network find you selling kit on ebay at the same price they are purchasing at!!!! Of course, this may be different....time will tell.
  13. Most 026/MS260s I have worked on with OEM top ends pull 170-180 with ease. 145 is low on one of these saws, in fact, very low. I would say that you have your problem right there and until you get back to decent compression, any other repair action is futile.....just my opinion! You can actually tell quite a bit about the saw from "ne pull"compression. You tend to get half of the compression reading on the first pull and the rest from the next 5-6. So - if you get 90psi with one pull, you are likely to get around 180 with lots of pulls on a decent engine. The 036 sounds pretty good, probably worth looking out for an 026/MS260 OEM top end for the 026!
  14. IMO, ISAs are a wonderful beast and it annoys me that most people confuse the Equity ISA with the poor Cash ISA. You take your savings, stick them in an ISA, REINVEST yes....REINVEST the dividends and increase in share price (Compound Growth) and if you keep an eye on how your ISAs are doing regularly, move them once in a while to more lucrative funds and investment areas, you keep them there for 30 odd years and as long as you keep popping in a payment when you can, you end up with a thumping great sum that is tax free which is unlike a pension fund although you do get tax relief on any payment in to a pension. You can pull money out of an ISA when you like unlike the Pension where only 25% can be drawn down tax free after you reach 55! The stock market has been cruising for a bit of correction/crash for a while but that is life, seen it all before but look as a crash as a good time to invest as much as you can as the markets can often only go one way after a big one! They are a fantastic opportunity that most just pass by - just look what some mid to good European funds have done this year - 25% isn't uncommon! Some think they are inflexible but you can shift funds about online and sell/buy the same way! Each man to his own!
  15. I think you have to work out why the value keeps going up and where the money comes from because at some time in the future, your one bit coin will not be worth the money it is supposed to be worth, people won't find it attractive and then it will peak or worse, collapse. I got excited many years ago, as many did about "Tech stocks, everyone thought there was massive value in all things internet and a year later the accountants worked out that the Tech firms were actually generating zero income or making losses and my £14k turned to £7K overnight....ouch! I made the choice to sell as I could see no improvement in the 1-5 year period and reinvested in typical shares in companies making wealth through more traditional ways. Personally I would rather trade stocks or funds in companies that are regulated and are tangible rather than something that just seems a bit too good to be true and must contain a pyramid style risk.
  16. Who the feck is Rylan Clarke with his cheesy big white smile, fake tan and big quiff??? And whilst on it, the bloody Kardashians! I don't know who the feck they are, got no interest in her big arse, what they are wearing or doing and why would Instagram reckon I should follow them????
  17. You can usually tell if the coil is OEM by the markings and quality/shape of the HT lead. Worth checking, some AM coils are pretty shabby TBH.
  18. The only cylinder kits I would touch are OEM (Stihl), Meteor and if these are too much or too expensive, Hyway are about the best of the Chinese kit. If on a tight budget or you only use the saw for a bit of firewood then one of the lesser brands may be OK. Try L&S Engineers for parts, parts list can be found here https://www.motoculture-jean.fr/upload/pdf/038.pdf It identifies ALL the parts and the part codes will make ordering parts very simple. If you haven't worked on small engines before - one little tip - de-stress the main bearings after reassembly by tapping each end of the crank heavily with a copper mallet. The crank will be relatively stiff if the bearings are under stress and will become silky smooth and free if the bottom end has been de-stressed correctly.

When you fill the tank and screw the cap on, it is possible the pressure in the tank forces fuel past the needle valve in the carb and floods the engine. It is possible to see it if you fill the tank with the air filter off and screw the cap on whilst looking up the bore of the carb. If you can get a bit of an angle on the saw so any fuel runs out the back of the carb rather than in to the engine, it may prove the point. The cause - weak metering spring, metering arm too high or the needle valve a bit worn.....that is if I am correct in this analysis! When the saw is warm, it probably vaporises the extra fuel but floods the saw when cold.
  20. It is simple enough to do the mod with a carbide burr and dremel but make sure you check the maximum revs once done. The cylinder does need removing if anyone is thinking about doing this mod.
  21. Blimey, missed all the fun At least you have found the reason for failure and seen the sealant on many saws now and usually use similar on reassembly to make up for the large unclamped areas around the lower transfers. The carbon on the piston is probably caused by the filthy air filter causing the saw to run rich despite the AT probably trying to compensate - I am seeing more and more poor maintenance causing severe running issues like this on all saw types.
  22. Sorry - misread your post, didn't see you were answering rather than having an issue
  23. Grew up with contact breakers and distributors! The question was to find out if a coil has different levels of advance and if the spark moves when you rev the engine then it proves there are different levels of advance present. Advance would typically be around 26 degrees before TDC. It would be relatively simple to put a timing wheel on the saw and produce a graduated scale to run over the top of the flywheel and then line up the white fin on TDC with Zero on the scale so when you start the saw, you will be able to read off the advance using the strobe, the white fin and the graduated scale. It should start at near zero and go to around 26 at 9500rpm and then retard a bit flat out - typical two stroke advance.
  24. Out on the woods - If the saw is full of fuel down to flooding, do as you would with a normal saw. Remove the plug, turn upside down, pull it over hard until no more spatters out. Heat the plug up good and hot, replace quickly, put the carb on fast idle (no choke) and pull over without the decomp on. If it doesn't start then check the plug is sparking. It is quite easy to miss the first pop, had this a few times on certain machines and is usually just down to rebuild oil fouling the plug and the decomp lowering the compression more than the engine needs. Bill - If the saw is sparking than the earth and that part of the ignition system is OK.
