I think I would have a plan to sell at a certain price as this commodity is completely new so no history. You can always buy back once the market becomes stable again which is more than you can do with ISAs!

The carb gaskets don't need to be a specific thickness unless the original is massively thick. The cylinder base gasket determines the squish, compression and also the port timing so is relatively important. I do make my own to speed up a repair if I haven't got a spare or for vintage kit. Punches, a hand hole punch and scalpels help.

Looks like a significant drop, probably a lot of speculative buyers, after its listing on futures, dumping stock for a quick buck but there is nothing like falling prices to make people still sitting on substantial gains to consolidate them in to £££ before the bottom falls out completely. There may be a further plummet before Christmas. I guess anyone purchasing at $1,000 - $5,000 may take the view they have missed the peak price and sell knowing they have made good money and some sticking it out thinking that the price will rise again. The biggest issue is that this is a first in this market - the stock market has been there time and time again and the listed companies still have viable asset value even after a crash - not so sure in the Bitcoin Markets! How the Bitcoin value changes and how fast it recovers will define this market for a long time to come!

Those breathers tend not to leak. Possibly the fuel line is leaking where it pushes in to the tank, the tank has a split along the join or the fuel line has a split in it.

Mmmm, I remember the 372 - what a mess You can sometimes bang the seals in too far and the rubber seal pushes too hard on to the inner race. You need to match how they were originally fitted or just take care to set them correctly. The clutch side needs to be flush with the bearing so it doesn't bend the oil pump and cause issues like I said to you. The flywheel side needs to go in a depth where the seal seals on the shaft and outer case and not impinge on the inner race. You can normally turn the crankshaft with a firm grip on the shaft with thumb and finger - if it is damn tight, the seal is in too far. I am expecting you to send the box of bits in very shortly - I am now packing for a month in hotter climes

The seals do have an impact on how easy the crank is to turn as they grip the crank a little. I take it you greased the shaft a little before fitting them? Looks like I will have an apprentice soon, when are you moving back?

Yes, the disk grinding edge is round and replaces the round file. You typically get two disk thicknesses for the smaller 3/8 LP and 0.325 chains and a thicker one for 3/8 high profile. It is worth getting one with a speed control or factor one in so the grinder doesn't heat the teeth too much otherwise it makes file sharpening impossible. Many don't like them but they are good for well mullered chains!

Oh - and a reasonably manufactured aftermarket is better than a badly worn OEM. The Hyway stuff is better than most.

But is it that richer people may be a bit smarter and eat things like fresh veg whereas poorer people may eat a can of beans, chips etc? Is it laziness, education, lack of interest.....no idea. Cost wise, cabbage, cale, carrots, spuds, peas, runners, French beans, cauliflower are not expensive but the kids don't like it and the parents can't be bothered to argue the fact - we didn't get the option, we were lucky if we had a decent cut of meat and were made to eat our veg. I think slimmer people would eat less after a big blow out the day before but more "rotund" people wouldn't and would have no issue in eating the same again the day after. We tend to do more brisk long walks during and after Christmas and are both well in our ideal BMI range. Someone I used to work with ate one of those massive family bars of chocolate one evening, needles to say she was a foot shorter than me and weighed around 25 stone and had health issues.......I personally couldn't do that! Sedentary jobs don't do you much good and people are bad at balancing jobs like that with extra exercise!

I would fit a new sprocket as using a worn one will wear the drivers of the chain, the tension changes as the chain moves from worn to less worn parts of the sprocket and will stretch the chain unevenly. The sprocket is a consumable part and should be changed if worn - when else would you consider changing it - another chain or two and it would resemble a farmers saw! The breather is a small aluminium valve pushed in to the bar mount to the right of the rightmost bar stud. If it is blocked, oil will flow les and less as the saw is used rather than ceasing immediately. Typical oiler issues are the worm stripped or damaged, the oil pump inlet plugged, the tank pickup filter plugged, gloop in the bottom of the tank or wear between the oiler shaft and the oiler body - this usually means oil is slowed rather than not working altogether. Also check the oil channel in the bar mount but is a pretty obvious fault. You can thin the oil with a bit of petrol to flush the system but usually find it quicker to strip out the parts and get them clean and fixed than cocking around the issue for weeks!

The 372 is one of the best saws to port. Just the porting without the muffler mod gives 30%+ improvement in cut speed. Fab on a 20" but at 28" you are pushing it unless your chain looses some teeth!

The sprocket is worn and should be replaced. If you put the sprocket up against the light, you will be able to see two indentations in the very top of the gear/lobe and at this point, it needs to be replaced. Sure, it isn't as bad as this one as the chain was actually slipping round the spur drum!

Before Christmas will generally be quiet but will pick up in Jan. Get organised, keep your receipts for gear, mobile phone, travel etc, claim for as much as you feasibly can. Ensure you invoice work in a timely manner and in a professional way, chase payments in and be sure to ensure all customers know your payment terms before starting work and your invoices should state this. Keep books monthly and make sure they are accurate! Work hard, get a good reputation with as many firms as possible and go from there. You will need to register as self employed on the Government portal which is no biggie - listen to what others in this line of work recommend - I fix kit and don't do what you do but much of being self employed means not just doing the work but you do also need to bring in the dosh in a timely manner. Always do what you promise to do and leave each job with the companies wishing you were full time employee!

Yes but their policies are fresh and new, so fresh they carry a best before date of mid 1970s......they have just not been experienced by our younger general public!
