  1. And that is why I asked the question - most likely the impulse line has been pulled off (tube just under the air box on the starter side) but is possible you have split or dislodged the manifold. Check it out, don't be tempted to run it, you will kill it!

  4. Was the idle OK directly after the drop? Have you changed the carb settings since dropping it? If you take the air filter off, is the choke fully open with the choke in the OFF position?

  6. As he says, no carb condition will cause a backfire as the backfire is caused by the saw firing once the piston has cleared TDC. Husqvarna coils can be a bit weird with how they are set with two of the metal laminates being close to the coil and the other being a fair way from the coil. Without checking, the 372 lower two should be close and set to the magnet and the upper one should be a way off the coil. Even if this was out, it would cause an uneven idle but very unlikely to cause a backfire.

  9. Sounds like the coil is buggered if the flywheel key is intact and the flywheel and gap are OK. I tend to swerve AM coils as they are hit and miss! It doesn't sound like this one will run as it is, not if it is backfiring. I could tell you how to measure the ignition timing but would get a virtual glaze of the eyes and send everyone to bed early!

    13,500rpm Max on that saw, would try 12,000 - 12,500rpm until it is bedded in a bit and then up it to 13,000. It will speed up as the cylinder and bearings run in so keep an eye on it.
  14. It is an Annular Buffer or Ring Puffer in German.....better not ask for one of those eh

    And don't I know it, nothing changes, dunk it in the village pond 20 times, drag it through the local pile of cow shyte and then.....give it to Steve On the Hutzl - rev it flat out, turn the H screw out until it sounds really flubby and turn in until your trained earreckons it sounds about right - don't use a hammer

  19. Good, glad it worked out. Is that 660 still bopping - that was a few years ago!
  20. TBH, the cost of doing the work probably outweighs the advantage and will be a large percentage of the new cost of the blower. The Echo blower probably has a CAT in the exhaust, drill it to bypass the CAT and retune the carb - should get it going better.
  21. Widened the ports, dropped the base gasket and opened the muffler a bit - didn't want it too loud, neighbours wouldn't like it!!
  22. Up until a few weeks ago, the ignition timing was wrong so not well but got it set to 30 degrees and should go a lot better now. Carb tuning is weird and think the expansion has had a fair bit of effect but need a big lump of timber to try it on now!
  23. No, not yet but it is about the loudest saw you are likely to hear.
  24. Yup, one of three I got from a local gardener, all non runners, fixed all three, sold two and ported one for me. The strimmer also has a muffler mod
  25. Yes, my own BG85, goes like a good one and has plenty more clout than standard
