  1. The more equipment one owns the more it costs to use/maintain so prices will be different. That's before giving a verbal price against someone else who is without PPE and PLI.
  2. Good post is this one. A lot depends on the weather and if it's a dark wood that's seen no humans since planting. Hemlock's are the worse woods we have worked in but nice useful timbers.
  3. Unless she also works with you.
  4. Shipping firewood is not viable as too much space between loads.
  5. Standard fixed studs "upside down T" move around in a pre drilled hole compared to screw in studs. If you remove the normal studs then some damage is caused to the tyre as the flat edge is sharp. (designed to hold the stud in) I will try and take some pics to show. The screw in ones can be removed in a simple method and used again with no issues. I am in the process of producing some addition studs in the UK due to interest from various customers.
  6. The Spencer/Stihl tapes are good but spruce sap plays hell with the rewind mechs. I took the last one apart after the tape had broken again and the spring was also worn out. I find if walking a lot on rough ground (horse logging) the side wears on the tongs case:001_rolleyes:
  7. These people need some serious trouble to stop stealing peoples tools. Police need to start stopping all tree teams seen working and checking serial numbers to see who is using these stolen items. Hope you find the saws.
  8. I think the main wholesale supplier is in Dubai for the LC78/79. Have to be careful on EU/ROW specs though.
  9. IMO the CC route is a waste of time if no funds available from the firm. A personal visit to remove property in lieu of payment more effective. The law on contarcts is different in Scotland from England which also does not help when in legal hassle. Hope it works out.
  10. Work Site has been valued now at £200,000 and available to purchase. We will consider all sensible offers/bids. Full info including pictures can be E-Mailed and a site meeting. Someone has offered around £130,000 to date. Ironic but there are some gypsies who were also interested in the site. The reason we are selling is we should be finishing moving abroad within a month but this is now in doubt due to some Norwegian issues. This is a good base for a business and rare to find in this area. Mains services available.
  11. A Thatcham approved "Gold" wheel clamp on the front axle stops driving off/towing. These are a commercial grade unlike the ones on caravans. Worth looking at freeads/fleabid/landrover magazines/gumtree.
  12. Sounds interesting. I could bring the Hotpoint special for cooking on.
  13. Land Rover 90/110/130 with the modern "Ford" diesel engine. Mercedes "G" Series with the large V8 diesel. (Full locking axles) Toyota Landcruiser "70" Series with the V8 diesel. (Full locking axles)
  14. When we started a long time ago I used YP but found was run around by the public looking for cheap prices. (Could not compete with cold callers people) Then on most work was from word of mouth as the business built up through honest hard work at reasonable prices. Now vehicle signs and trade contacts. Local Councils/Police should do more to stop all the uninsured people in the tree trade. I think all business should have a "Trade Plate" fixed on vehicles like taxis have so all can see who is legal and who is travelling around doing cash work.
  15. Stolen for spares and weighing in due to metal prices we are told in this area. Scrap yards must be in on it also for so much to vanish. Should remove hands and eyes from these scum. Until one has been robbed several times of business items people do not understand. Mark all panels/wheels/windows with business name!!!!
  16. Helmets and all plastic parts have a "replacement date". Store in a cool dark place.
  17. If no issues with public access then I would leave alone. If the land man is concerned with young trees around the beech should have been dealt with a long time ago.
  18. Is the plastic PVC? Does it degrade in acid soils/water?
  19. How many professional woodcutters with new saws could one take on for the same purchase cost of a new harvester? Large Machines are fine until it breaks down and then cost serious monies.
  20. I use these folks. T-Shirts/Hoodies/Business cards/Vehicle Signs/Site Boards. Printscene — Welcome — We sell business cards, posters, leaflets, banners, displays, signs and printed clothing. We are a printers based in Derbyshire, UK.
  21. Forestry helmets should have a peak at the front and small vent holes. Climbing helmets can have no peak and large air holes. Someone should make decent holes in Forest helmets as much too hot in summertime:thumbdown:
  22. Wax cotton versions with a brass zip. Available for good Agricultural suppliers and should last 12 months of hard work.
  23. Some good ones in here:lol: Topic said please keep it clean.
  24. Yes we have learnt through experience to change the specs. Made some dandelion that was 12%
  25. I would be interested to see some pictures from underneath as it looks like the chassis has been flexing on the welded section. Good to see no one was hurt.
