  1. This is the most simple firewood machine in the world. Have a look at the videos. Firewood Processors Chomper Rainier
  2. Insurances have all gone up due to the large amount of stealing going on. The costs are passed onto us all.
  3. Thought we are not allowed to talk about religion on "Arbtalk". This is one of the biggest causes of human hassles worldwide and should all be banned. It's a form of brain washing:001_rolleyes: to control populations. Don't get me started on this one.
  4. Used to purchased for matches production if that helps.
  5. Wood is wood and keeps us all warm so who cares which species is used. people are too If the wood is seasoned then should be no issues with stoves.
  6. Like this? Tenders Direct | Search | Search For Tenders
  7. When felling Spruce in cold weather (-20C/-30C) the smaller branches will shatter on landing as does the main stem sometimes. Birch seems less of a problem. Scotland was cold this season.
  8. It is not cheap to do but very useful on animal trailers also. Can be hosed out and not slippery even in snow.
  9. What is the normal lengths of cable on these various makes of chainsaw winches? New costings of complete unit without a saw would be helpful.
  10. I have noticed several posting from the forum with people wanting/needing a work site. We have a suitable site available in the Matlock area of Derbyshire England around 1.5 acres with double gated all weather main road access. (14,000 vehicles go past each week) It also has full planning permission for a large Agricultural/Forestry building. (60'L x 40'W x 18'H) It is still being used for our small rural business and available only as we are making some business/life changes. If you are serious and interested then please PM me your name and address including a contact E-mail and I can send you all the specs/maps and arrange a site view.
  11. I assume a decent fuel supplier should have the full spec sheet available to compare the fuels? I think the "winter" grade was usable down to -14C not sure if this has changed now?
  12. Scandinavian Lifestyle! Skal
  13. Is it correct that both "White" and "Red" diesel will now be the same except from the colour and price? This means vehicles should run cleaner with less smoke and as modern diesel fuel contains at least 8% bio diesel then valves/pistons should have decent lube. Price should go down if less products added:001_rolleyes:
  14. That reminds me of the time doing a large charcoal burn and we had told the local Derbyshire fire service of the control burn. A policeman having lunch thought the moors were on fire and called South Yorkshire fire service:001_rolleyes: The 4x4 vehicle was driven at such a speed down the rough track the water tank had almost no water left inside as the lid had opened.
  15. Children arriving does make huge changes to the normal life.
  16. When a PTO grabs someone it also smashes the persons head on the link arms. Make the promise - Partners
  17. Reduce the price of chainsaw fuel duties to that of red diesel.
  18. We used a small lightweight Unimog to move the horses to the work site and then on the long tracks with a Mowi Skog 8 and 2453 crane. Horse work in the woods without engine. Never understood the Armish using numerous horses on a wheeled machine with a large diesel/petrol engine:001_rolleyes: Twice the running costs then as fuel for engine and food/looking after animals which is full time.
  19. Rubbish steel is an issue as I had a cheap kindling axe and on the first chop is broke a section of the edge off and was nightmare to sharpen. The same with wedges.
  20. Mine is orange and white with a galv steel wire inside. Cannot remember the brand. Some tree sap and soil can damage steel. Working on riverbanks often does not help also.
  21. Can be between £2000 -£6000 from the ones we have seen advertised. If one is logging all the time then people tend to purchase a young unbroken horse for a few hundred pounds and bring on with the older animals. Before we started we looked around at all the breeds working and considered the Clydesdale the most useful for all tasks as strong/eats less than some breeds/lots of spirit/nimble on steep terrain/less problems needing the vets.
  22. Working on the wooden boat at present with someone I know in Arendal Noreg:thumbup: I know not a chainsaw but not sure where else to place info and would be used with a saw:001_rolleyes: Need one that has a good edge and stays sharp. Thanks for all the helpful info. Throwing them looks like fun.
  23. Considered doing Yoga? Self-Employed people often have problems switching off at the weekend.
  24. I have used Larch/Oak/Western Red Cedar on firewood/log store sheds. I would not use Pine as Wales in much wetter than Sweden in wintertime.
