  1. Looking for a source of double headed axes. Good sharp ones with wooden handles.
  2. A PTO will wrap 424' of boot lace in one minute at 540RPM and 785' at 1000RPM. It will also twist an arm/leg around the shaft 9 times a second at 540RPM/16 times at 1000RPM. Grind skin/muscles/tendons/break bones in less than three-fourths of a second when caught in an unshielded PTO. Modern machines have an engine stop each side to be more safe. Think of the above before using a dangerous homemade version:thumbdown:
  3. We purchased one from Machine Mart which does all fruit including apples/pears. Well worth the monies. I will look for the code number and post a link.
  4. Worth watching this. Natural World ? A Farm for the Future | Documentary Heaven | Watch Free Documentaries Online
  5. Nice fencing work on a curved slope. We often do pointed wooden palisade made from local Larch. Moving the gritbin.
  6. We worked around the old tree that the "Rock a Bye Baby" came from. It was a charcoal man and his wife with 8 children that lived inside the tree. Told not to damage the tree when felling mature Western Hemlock and after we finished the work extracting 500 tons some glue sniffing vandals burn the main stem:thumbdown: Somewhere I have some pictures and will post here.
  7. That's useful as I need to see them following the APF show. Nice Forest is Ae.
  8. VAT rates are strange. Should be free on green fuels. Hope the VAT man is not reading this post:001_rolleyes:
  9. We made our own extraction sledge/arch as whilst there is a range available we found working in the UK with slippery muddy conditions the wheels often too small and chain ratches could not be replaced when worn. (Motorcycle trail wheels/tyres are ideal) If you have an arch make sure there is a single lifting zone in the middle as well as the side ones for large lengths. Depends how serious you are as to purchase costs and worth going to do a couple of hard days work with a commercial logger not someone who is in it for the PR side. Take some decent boots and expect to walk at a fast pace between trees.
  10. I know Sherwood Forest area well having worked there with horses several times. The trees are full of sand in the bark. Flat extraction terrain compared to Derbyshire.
  11. I have a suitable place. PM me for more details and info on the site needs.
  12. What do you call a "Ute" in English?
  13. A useful link for those planning to take a visit. New Zealand, the Youngest Country - Tourism New Zealand official travel information > New Zealand
  14. One in Derbyshire if needed?
  15. I have one and it can use a drill and large disc on the same unit!!
  16. Oh Er. Looks bad on the news. Christchurch is on a silt and gravel plain with a high water table which makes it worse. It has some of the best drinking water in the world. In the the Haiti earthquake 316,000 people died and 200,000 serious injuries and 1,000,000 people made homeless.
  17. Container Rent & Hire | Containers for Sale & Shipping | Burton | Branston | Uttoxeter | Stafford | Foston | Tamworth We had 10' and 20' new ones from them as the used market ones around are rough. ISO ones are stronger and will last compared to the storage versions.
  18. There is a huge difference between common sense and no sense. http://www.hse.gov.uk/agriculture/hsagriculture.htm
  19. Depends if the chainsaw starts first time and the work goes well.
  20. Ha Ha. Old School work application notice:lol: Respect is earned from both sides with honest hard work. A good boss never asks a fellow worker to do more than he can. The first full time work I had on a farm I rode on a single speed bicycle 14 miles to work then did 12hrs and then another 14 miles back home. (7 days a week)
  21. I have seen work given to certain people in various forms but not worth the hassle to name and shame as someone might sue. Now thieves are different and should be:001_rolleyes:
  22. An accident looking for somewhere to happen.
  23. Use some piglets then you can sell them on afterwards.
  24. Is there a good book like the "collins" series that show which are safe to eat and uses?
