  1. I should have said "Agricultural" vehicles with all wheels/axles sprung so normal high road speed compared to solid back axle. I have much experience of snow removal abroad with modern fixed V - ploughs and find them brilliant tools provided one is not doing packed town centre carparks. (Rural use on both gravel and tarmac roads) The main wide mountain roads are kept open in Norway/Sweden and the drifting snows of Denmark on small rural roads using this method which would break normal council type blades. At least if one meets a raised steel manhole there is less of a problem than with a snowblower even with a clutch plate.
  2. We had a small (12" DBH) diseased Elm beside a main road and the council said due to TPO could not take down until the bark fell off in case of bats. At this stage the tree was dangerous so sawn down within 60 seconds at dawn on a Sunday. 8 different people involved with one dead tree! Not been told to replant but will look at something interesting for the future people to view.
  3. There was a period of severe issues within the FCA but those people moved on/were thrown out and the new team are helpful I heard.
  4. I need a reliable source for freight shipping between Denmark and England. (nearest sea ports to me are Immingham and Harwich. In Denmark it is Esbjerg Havn) The item weighs around 1000KG. Length is 3.4M. Width is 2.6M Height is 1.5M and can be loaded in Denmark for free and off loaded back in the UK also for free.
  5. Thanks for that. This does leave a problem then for the special Vee snowploughs that work at 34MPH to shift snow high to each side. No issues abroad on speed and width as is more important to move the snow and keep traffic going.
  6. Advice needed on the legal width of a snowplough blade width depending if on a truck - Agricultural vehicle. VOSA said 2.550 - 3.000 Police said 3.000 - 4.300 but then restricted to 20MPH and 24hrs notice. Council no idea but needs side lights and reflective markers.
  7. To those who do highway work have you had to do the vehicles in that expensive reflective tape so the public can see one in the dark?
  8. I did not realise one could claim back the tax afterwards. At what rate was the petrol fuel rebated from HMRC?
  9. Some new versions have been tested and available soon. PM me please.
  10. A set of good snow tyres then if much ice use removable studs. Unless used to attaching/removing chains then a hassle and cannot drive on bare tarmac without issues.
  11. Use some Oak posts as no sparks if bashed into and will not be stolen for scrap.
  12. Hello, Hope I have not missed a posting elsewhere but I need some advice on a good website domain hosting firm and if possible the method to set up the pages so I can do basic changes on products/pictures/prices like firewood/charcoal/compost/trees......... Reason is current website is much outdated and the firm hosting have made a mess with loading thumbnails and difficult to contact and I need to have reliable one. I am self taught on the PC but understand the basics. Thanks in advance.
  13. A stainless washing machine drum with the spike and the glass door as a bird water bowl.
  14. STRESS:- We wanted a less stressful life so sold the home in the UK and purchased a 200 acre place with a mortgage in Southern Norway. (Properties over 20 acres have to have a business plan approved from the local council to enable purchase which keeps rural places alive) Soon after being approved in the national land registration the previous man sold again a large section of the vital Agricultural/Garden land to the Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian Government Department of Transport) Total Fraud/Theft which has been going on for several years now and we cannot finish moving in and cannot sell without at least a 30% value loss. The remains of a good longterm business in England and the rubbish start of a new one abroad. Going to be homeless on the 1st April 2012. MEP's involved and been on the TV but the Norwegians refuse to give back the land. 300 hundred wooden fencing poles smashed up.
  15. The local NFU have been good to us for a long time however when I went in during October to have them sign a form to prove both us and the vehicle were insured for snow clearance work on public roads (which it confirms in the legal smallprint) I was told 10 days and had to be done at head office then posted second class and faxed back to me and the council. When the form arrived having called them to check progress the ***** at the office had filled in the form confirming Policy Numbers but then written in Block words. "NOT INSURED WITH THE NFU"
  16. Ford said all "Transits" with a new tow ball will have to be fitted with electronic spy in the cabin.
  17. Think it was the rushed typing on the incorrect buttons. Otherwise website fine!
  18. No problems logging in again but messages were going odd.
  19. Much too mild and the grass is growing again but the wind direction and feel make me think of snow!!
  20. I have something I am working on and will post with pictures when done.
  21. OH ER I had vanished off the forum for a while due to some serious hassles and now back on what have I been missing?
  22. Shame land Rover did not produce the Lamma on a commercial basis. Real Land Rover's have a metal dash/bonnet vents you can look through and an ankle burning round heater.
  23. Some good tree lengths. In the US the arches often have a seat on them. (Safer than walking at the downhil side when skidding)
  24. Good video. (I had seen before) Some methods are still the same over there.
  25. I think the most useful Unimog I had was the U421/600 in full Agricultural specs. Would drive to the moors and do 8hrs topping of high rushes and back to base on one tank of fuel. The U417/900 would slurp fuel when worked hard.
