  1. Going to have a meeting with the local council on Monday.
  2. Hello all. Some of Arbtalk folks know us well and some have seen the Norwegian issue posted on here. (which still continues with the Norwegian courts now) I planned to sell the work base in Derbyshire which is idea for those in this tree trade and have planning permission for a large 60'L x 40'W x 18'H building with much space for products and 14,000 vehicles passing each week. HOWEVER some interested people had been given the run around from the local council and now it has approached us intending to purchase to use as a "Travellers" site as none in the whole of the council area and a legal case going on because of that. Decisions were made without informing us and made public in the press which caused us much hassle. Council could do a CPO and we then have no choice in the process. SENSIBLE ADVICE please!!
  3. These chainsaws were visible in the back of the van. (might be stolen and could be Chinese rubbish) This is the 3rd time so have now decided on leaving a large piece of hard wood at entrance and asking for a demo. (cut the whole section up into slices in less than 10mins and I am interested) Needless to mention at the same time someone will be calling the Police. This happened in Derbyshire and the Police have attended on all times however the people had gone but it had 4 units out looking.
  4. Hence the VOSA interest as should one be "Paid" and take woodchipping back this is considered "Reward". The NFU insure Agricultural/Forestry vehicles for haulage on the public highway of own produce and for leisure use.
  5. Exhaust from the truck and no more front sections in stock at Mercedes!!!! Damm all that salt on the roads.
  6. Been approached this afternoon on site from a couple of young Irish lads in a White Ford Transit offering drills, brushcutters, chainsaws. So had a look in the back and 10 brand new Orange and White saws at £120 each. Took registration details (11-DL-482) and passed to Police-Trading Standards.
  7. Is the vehicle chipping on private land? (non Agricultural-Forestry)
  8. Still some snow on the floor waiting for more.
  9. Interesting video. Still seem to fell trees leaving high stumps.
  10. Still some snow on the floor waiting for more.
  11. The CLA give free advice to all members and one can own from an acre upwards to join. Planning Departments often give misleading advice and are looking to make monies from the small business.
  12. Good tyres from Avon and some fine gravel with hessian sacks (tied with twine on the back so one can keep going to level ground) http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/van/vanmaster-ms
  13. Products - We used this as good on overgrown paddocks and 1m high and thick moorland rushes. Chops up material fine so no need to remove waste. It was on a U600/421 60HP machine.
  14. Loads of fresh snow and NO RAIN. Without woodstove going is 3C inside cabin in the morning so good we are used to outside conditions.
  15. I was going to do wooden picket fence on wall of 1m but local planning office said not Agricultural so we have small mixed broadleaves but even with horse muck taking too long.
  16. Machine Mart produce a good strong cargo net and we rope over this and twitch the load.
  17. Yew might work but expensive? Ivy takes too long and does die back from salt. Spruce plants unless pinched at Christmas time. Perhaps someone the forum is removing a 200m hedge and we can give new home.
  18. I have a work site beside a rural main road and need an instant screen to prevent noise and people climbing into. Whole area is now World Heritage so local council unhappy about solid wooden fence on top of stone wall. Ideas needed please and if hedge species needs to be road salt spray proof! Agricultural design needs no planning permission.
  19. Just been offered brand new Stihl chainsaws from an Irish man with his son in a White Mercedes Vito van KY 09 EUW. Needless to state have reported this to local Police.
  20. These stoves should come with a temperature wire which connects on the pipes behind the stove and to the water pump. When the correct heating/water is reached the pump switches on. The one problem with the Clearview is the ash drops behind the back of the boiler and rots it even when using seasoned wood. Expensive to replace and the firm won't take this on board. (We had two go in 10 years) Otherwise great for heating and leaving a stew on for return at night!
  21. Talk to the local head person and visit the office. FC can be very difficult at times.
  22. Shipping containers in law are "portable" and exempt from planning permission. If the units have been there more than 3 years than lawfull use as "structures" and the ****** at the local council can do nothing. (does help if painted a dark colour) I had an issue and proved how long these had been here and wrote to head man and said would sue for hassle in small claims court. Left me alone now as I called local press who called council. In this times councils are looking for methods to raise funds so often hassle small business as think will not take them on. All the best.
  23. Keep the wedge sharp and the tip might need replacement. Used them and done hundreds of tons with no problems. Small logs should be placed to one side to avoid the turning over issue. Wish an electric version was made!
  24. Good boots are worth the pennies and less then new feet/ankles. Canada produce the best leather ones!! We had Stihl rubber chainsaw wellies and worn numerous of them out to the extent the last ones were sent back to Germany for inspection. (Told walking around in brambles and rough ground too much) Made them into outside slippers to the log stack.
  25. Here OK but has been slow all week perhaps due to all the loading adverts on the main page?. Might be the 3 dongle?
