  1. Can anyone give an id on this please. Found around the base of two large-ish Ash trees. The feel of it was like hard rubber - not woody like Gano but not as squishy as inonotus. I've got other pics but would have to transfer from camera phone. Thanks in advance. Ed
  2. Got a quote about a month ago from Rotatech for a set of replacement blades, i think it was about £125 but they don't do the torx bolts for them.
  3. It would be like Ewok village - cool.
  4. Now very much looking forward to future camping sites at Arb shows. Actually, may be it's not such a good idea considering the amount of alcohol thats consumed.
  5. Can't see the issue here. "young lads" are obviously going to be paid less than "more experienced". When I started in the industry I was on £60 a day when the climber was being paid £95 a day. I didn't have a problem with that because I was relatively inexperienced. Morel of the story is get good at the job and then get paid more, or if you don't, move jobs so you do.

    Jesus!

Picture 1. I see a young jack russell dog. Picture 2. I see the profile of a long hair man, with a tash, looking down. I wonder what the psychologist's would make of that?
  7. No, this was 4 or 5 years ago. The TW150 went over on it's side and emptied the full 5 litres of engine oil all over the road.
  8. Great T-shirt.
  9. Rarely go to booties. Just can't be bothered to get up early on a weekend to get there before the very few bargains do get snapped up.
  10. After a long, hard days work I forgot about the chipper when turning around at the end of the road. Remembered a split second before I heard the bang and watched the chipper topple over.
  11. It would be interesting to find out how many leg injuries have occurred during climbing operations by trained tree surgeons whilst wearing class A trousers. I'll take a guess at zero.
  12. I also want to make both of those. See you there.
  13. Have got a pair of C's that i like using when it gets cold. All other times I wear A's.
  14. I've read a few bad posts about it but i think that the generally opinion is that it's a good saw. I've had one for about 4 years with no problems. Power unit is quite large so it is a bit heavy but i'm happy with it.
  15. Thanks for answering my question. That does surprise me that theres a lot more involved than sending your cheque off. The local firms must be using the logo unauthorised because they have never been interested in doing quality work. I'm sure you probably know this already but you could be a member of ISA and display their logo or alternatively do as i do and just state that you are an associate member of the ArbAssoc- without displaying their logo. I also hope to be a full AA member in the next two years.
  16. Very nice set up and i applaud your ambition to be a top class outfit. Just one question, it's not a criticism but i'm interested to know why your a member of the guide of master craftsman. I ask because the only tree firms around me that advertise this are always the pikki's. Do they do any checks on your standard of works? Anyway, wish you all the best for the future. Ed
  17. As Steve said, Duxford H&S. They don't do a huge range but are about the only suppliers in Cambs. For a better selection we have to travel; Stuart Browns (Bedfordshire), Landmark Trading (Stamford), BTS (suffolk) or Stanton Hope in Essex.
  18. Nice one Geoff, and welcome to the forum Paul.
  19. Sounds like the right move then. Oh, and it doesn't affect your sex drive at all - didn't with me anyway. Did mess with my head a bit for a few days - being infertile. Guess it's the same thoughts women get during the menopause.
  20. The only painful bit is when they inject the local anaesthetic. After that you feel very little. It is strange when you smell yourself burning as they cauterize the tubes. As soon as it is done get yourself home and relax with a bag of peas. Have some painkillers to hand if they are needed but all in all, it's a very painless op. just take it easy for the next two or three days. What i would advise strongly is to talk ( a lot) with your partner and make sure that both of you are 100% agreed that you don't want any more rug rats.
  21. A even entertaining sport, especially when it's as close a match as that. I think that they are true Olympians. You can tell that they have worked dam hard to get to that standard of play and are just as committed to there sport as any of the other sport-persons. .........and yeah, Zara is well fit.
  22. Haven't weighed myself for years. I'm guessing that i'm still around 100kg and 6'2". Couldn't imagine losing 2 stone. Suppose i could lose a bit but would rather aim to turn wobbly bits into hard bits.
  23. Over the last couple of years I've been seeing quite a few Walnut trees (of all sizes) looking very poorly. They generally have sparce leaf cover and lots of smaller dead wood throughout the crown. Does anyone know of any pests or diseases that may be to blame, or is it just the prolonged drought - before this year.
