  1. I've found three places. prices range from £50 to £120 +vat per day. I hire mine from Ridgehire (about £90+vat) as they always send them out with sharp teeth.
  2. looks very much like honey fungus - check that there is a veil around the stalk.
  3. indeed, but only for the big ones. I hire a 13hp when I have enough smaller ones for a day's grinding.
  4. I'm Bar Hill mate, how about yourself?
  5. Sides are ok. I got a metre of the top covered at the front to keep chips in altho you still lose some when the box gets over half full. I think that the only way to stop that is to have a fully enclosed box with your chipper shoot pokeing through a hole at the back, but I didn't want that.
  6. In fact that's my green transit on their website - 10th one down.
  7. I ended up getting it from them. A fantastic body and very professional company, I would definitely go to them again.
  8. Poor guy. Kickback to the face, Hedgecutter and now a stump grinder. We're in a dangerous profession - Keep safe all.
  9. DON'T, i repeat, DON'T get one made by a company called DAG Midlands Ltd, formally known as SDC Midland Limited, formally known as DAG Products Limited, formally known as Tippers UK Limited - need I say more.
  10. Well done. it's a great feeling to win a saw. I won a top handle Husky at the celebration of trees in 2009. I use it now and again when I feel like a change from the 200T.
  11. Hi Jonesie, I bought an MS660 from you in April at the Capel Manor show.

Guys brought in back today saying that it is broken. I'm in Cambridge so it's a bit of a trek to get it back to you. The symptoms are: won't start, hard to pull over even with the decompression pushed in. when the chain brake is off the chain will turn as it is pulled over.

Is there anything you suggest that I try before I return it. Cheers, Ed.

  12. I bet cliff was there to show you how to do that.
  13. I've been using this for the last two days. It is a nice knot. Didn't notice much difference between using 4 turns or 5, only that it makes the knot closer to your krab which has been better it i'm branchwalking.
  14. 260's are great, I've got a 2004 that goes out every day and apart from replacing rubbers and plug i've never have a problem with it.
  15. Ouch! He's going to have a lovely scar. Could say he got away with it tho. My theory is to learn from other peoples lessons - it's less painful.
  16. Thanks Log supplier / Elfinwood, Just upped the H by 1/4 turn and the played with the L and it's much better. Still struggles a bit to idol without cutting out but I will play with the LA next time I take it out for a good run. Cheers.
  17. Shouldn't be a problem, I'm sure that the tree officers would still give "deemed consent" on any dangerous tree as long as you provide sufficient proof.
  18. Personally, i wouldn't bother. It shouldn't be classed as a public highway. They won't be grass cutting in November, so I would just do it.
  19. Just checked that. Even ran the saw with exhaust removed - same problem only much louder. Thanks anyway.
  20. AFAG 401 - tree climbing operations, states under PPE/gloves "suitables gloves appropriate to the task and subject to the operators risk assessment". Basically gloves that are suitable for climbing trees which is not your standard chainsaw gloves. You, as the operator can assess that climbing a tree in chainsaw gloves is too risky. Either that or insist that he splashes out £50 notes every few weeks on pro climber gloves with protection.
  21. it does look very much like the weaver. I've always used the weaver038 - nothing feels safer than having a cow rapped around you. My dad, who's still climbing at age 67, still wears an old harness with no leg loops. Old school rocks - but just not for me!
  22. Say hi to Mike, I was there last year.Great course, great tutor - if a little fast! Dave's a nice guy as well. I've got the bug - hope to take Tech Cert next year at treelife.
  23. Hi, just joined today and wondering if anyone could help fix a saw. My smallest groundsaw is an 023 that was given to me by a friend when he upgraded. It's was a great little saw to have next to the chipper or for dealing with the smaller trees but it is now playing up. It will die-off when you try to throttle it up to full revs. if you increase the L setting on the carb then it will fully rev but won't idol. I've tried new spark plug, fuel filter, new carb and gasket, crankcase oil seals, carb boot and fuel hose pipe but nothing seems to work. The compression is good and it has bags of power when you tweak the L so I think its a fuel problem but I am out of ideas. Really appreciate it if anyone can help, if not, I will ebay it and buy myself an MS240. Thanks
