  1. Will let you know what happens after the event. It will be my first time on reds
  2. wild red deer cull tomorrow
  3. Then jump on it and put in some more!
  4. I think you should have got the message by now. Price per job! Get good equipment and work as fast as you can whilst still making a smarter job that your competition. If you can learn as much as you can about turf care and mow in straight stripes you will soon have more and more customers on your books Edging lawns is also very important. I used to look after 25 gardens starting after 12.30 single handed and I was known for leaving a very smart garden with a great looking lawn.
  5. Plant nothing and best case is nothing grows. Plant something and worse case is nothing grows. if you have the time then why not at least try?
  6. Hawthorn in leaf in a hedge in the midlands nearby and daffodil flower bud about to burst in my garden
  7. Generator http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/720w-long-run-portable-generator-49-23074
  8. I know this is an old thread but surely if planting into grass spraying the planting sites before planting would help
  9. If grass is long enough and dry enough then cut. Simples. Most think i am mad but then wonder why my grass looks better than theirs.
  10. I have made a few with a vertical log splitter with stringy wood. Just split nearly through and then put a thin piece of kindle in to hold the split open. Much quicker than sawing, works just as well just not as pretty
  11. I have made Birch sap wine
  12. I had very similar op done 7 years ago and as a paraplegic my shoulders are very important to me to use a wheelchair. I was advised no load on the shoulders for 3 weeks but physio every day. Then take it steady ( this was me he was talking to haha) and physio for the next 3 months. I did as I was told ( well nearly) and was about to go away alone and be self caring as a mentor for flying scholarships for disabled after 3 weeks and back at work as Headgroundsman at hotel after 6 weeks. The prolonged physio and exercises really helped and the shoulder has served me well since.
  13. One is plus Vat and one inc. Vat but still a difference?
  14. Ill informed or not there is a simple fact. Eat less and put less weight on. I have found it very hard to reduce my food intake to about 1/4 of what I ate before being paralysed below the chest but I have done just that. I just about manage to keep my weight under control. Loving food and liking the odd beer or two maybe part of the problem
  15. Freshly felled sycamore is superb even if not soft wood. Don't let it season first though.
  16. As a person with an acquired disability I can get very upset at times like this. I broke my back when I lost control of my landrover and rolled it. Did this mean I could not work? Well thanks to access to work I had a hoist fitted to the side of a Kubota tractor and had a device which towed my wheelchair around the 100 acre grounds at the hotel where I worked. I looked after the deer herd, the veg garden, formal gardens, woodland and managed a team of 3. If obesity is now a disability then maybe these people would need a stronger hoist and a reinforced wheelchair to get to work? or a change in attitude. it is not the body that is disabled but the mind. I choose to keep my weight down, to save my worn shoulders when pushing my wheelchair or lifting in and out of the car. I have now chosen to work part time as an adviser for people with spinal injury. this means I earn less, but doesn't mean I claim any benefits. Come on Britain it is time to say it how it is and please don't use up all the blue badge spaces, I really do need the extra room to get my wheelchair out through the driver's door
  17. I fully agree with this. People think I am mad when I say things like going through doors first. Eating you food first and let the dog watch. never let a dog on your furniture but be able to turf the dog out of his/her bed and you stand in it. This will all put the dog in its place. A dog will either be dominated or it will dominate. If your misses can't get her place set before the dog is 2 years it will be almost impossible. Not sure if your misses can take this on board but if she doesn't she will always be lower placed than the dog. Good luck mate
  18. does anyone else think 120' is optimistic?
  19. Don't fall out over this one plenty to go around. firewood, logs, wood burner, Log. Burner, Log Splitter, Alsager, Congelton, | eBay Not sure how to post the link but sure someone will help
  20. Watched it and learned a lot
  21. The one thing that can be relied on for british weather is that it is unreliable. I don't believe anyone can predict the weather here for much more that about 5 days but all the guesses have a chance of being right. We may have another mild winter or deep snow but here is my prediction. Very cold blast around second week of February. See if I am right!
  22. Think what is the most you want to pay. Offer something near that and if you get it for what you offer you should be happy
  23. Just stacked my fire box to the limit with nice dry hardwood. Lit it at the top and it is burning nicely. Will let you know later what I think
  24. Sorry mate I will be giving a talk at the spinal injury centre in Middlesbrough on Saturday then a 3 1/2 hour drive home. Pity otherwise I might well have taken your offer up. What are you doing in Stoke?
