  1. Hi Eggs! Doing fine thanks! got a yard with best mate. Doing a few pigs. Been to look at some cattle today and starting bagging logs. Keeps me out of mischief
  2. lost control of my landrover on a wet day. rolled and suffered several broken ribs and 2 broken bones in back. I have a very muddy wheelchair these days lol
  3. makes me thing about when I broke my back. But at least there were not the negative thoughts about not working outdoors again. My employers came to let me know I was not getting out of the job that easily
  4. I agree with Stubby
  5. if there is a hedge laying comp nearby I am sure they would let you clear away some of the trimmings. Have you ever seen the huge pile left over?
  6. I can take some wood chip and some arb waste at burton on trent. please pm if you would ever like to drop any off
  7. Where is the site in Lichfield? Also I can take some for free in Burton
  8. hawthorn is not bad to learn on. watch out when you try blackthorn lol
  9. you might need some practice before you start charging
  10. I never actually suggested that anyone should do it
  11. Adding a DROP of fairy liquid works as a wetting agent. this helps the droplets spread over the leaf to increase uptake. Helps if you get less than 6 hours before rain but you still need a couple
  12. I am paralysed from chest down so have some idea of sorting out a few problems for myself. I have used a pole pruner from the wheelchair quite successfully. You do have to do your risk assessments well. Felling anything other than small stuff will need a lot of thought or a good friend. Being independent is one thing but getting a mate to allow you to do more than you could without him may be safer and will keep you both busy.
  13. Shame you are not near Burton on Trent. I have a good site there for wood or chip
  14. Looking at the grass it is very dry and any water would run straight off. Ash trees are turning like that round here too. I think it is drought and autumn myself but no expert
  15. Going tomorrow with mate. I should be hard to miss not many will be going round in a wheelchair with a little tug that tows it round!
  16. Graze with as many sheep as possible as soon as possible and then take them off before Xmas. They will not cut the ground up much unless it is very heavy ground and it becomes very wet. If it is free draining ground they could stay there till spring. There are usually farmers willing to pay a little per head per week and they will have all the electric fencing etc. It will make it much easier to see what it there and once the concrete if taken out you can reseed in April. Then mow. Simples
  17. Graze with Cattle, sheep or outdoor pigs would expose the posts.
  18. What baler and tractor do you have. I used to bale in late 80s early 90s with oldish international 440. Averaged 300- 400 bales per hour and the farmer used to sell it at £1 a bale delivered up to 20 miles in loads 200 -250. I managed to load and unload 3 loads with round trip 25 miles one day 225 bales on each load all roped, no ratchet straps then!
  19. That was the price to buy it in the field until recently. If just baling and you don't have any problems it is just an hour in the field. depending how far you have to go to do the job I would suggest half a days labour rate plus a bit for the tractor if its for a mate. £1.50 per bale if you don't really want the job!
  20. M54 2 lanes for it's entire length
  21. God forbid any of you guys will need this but Aspire is a national charity for people with spinal injury. They get no money from government and raise just over 2 million a year by various fundraising methods. one of their biggest events is the "channel swim" in you local swimming pool swimming 22 miles over a few weeks. I have a spinal injury myself so I can appreciate how much they can help
  22. Now that looks good!
  23. You would be surprised how much you can shift just raking onto a taup dragged behind a vehicle if you have a corner you can dump into
  24. It has been several years since the woodpigeon could be shot by anyone just because it is flying in range. It is no longer classed as a pest. It is allowed on special licence for the protection crops so you should be able to say what damage the pigeon was doing. Straight forward when shooting over a crop field. Not so easy if just flying past when you are out with the gun and very tough if sitting in a tree.
  25. If the hayterette is struggling take 1/2 width cut or even less. After a while you can tell by the engine noise when you are getting the best from the mower
