  1. yes lots on youtube but haven't seen any others as quick or deal with anything as thick
  2. Just don't tell H&S [ame] [/ame]
  3. I know a charity that offered to buy a minibus for a hospital to take patients out to events. It was turned down as no one would take responsibility for the insurance, servicing and other running costs. Good ideas don't always work out.
  4. Good luck with the new truck mate
  5. Not all of us that shoot pay £25 plus a bird. Some shoot pigeons both for sport and for crop protection. I shoot ducks and geese for the pot too. I have found steel fine for Canada geese and ducks if they are at reasonable ranges. I agree lead was better but that was in the past for waterfowl.
  6. When reversing can you not push snow off the road?
  7. Shot Canada goose last Wednesday. Got right and left actually but nettle shy dog wouldn't fetch the second one!. Tring air dried goose ham with the breasts so used last of my curing salts and they are now hanging wrapped in muslin. Slow cooker had the legs with carrots and onions. Bit of mash and they were the best goose I had in a while. Seems like the curing salts had also tenderised the meat!
  8. JT Leavesleys Near Burton on Trent
  9. get the welder out lol
  10. Wish I was closer but 60 miles away:mad1:
  11. Yes I will need about 800 x 1.2 m
  12. If it is possible to fit a pipe from the outside to deliver air into or near the air intake of the fire it will prevent cold draughts from windows and doors. It would help with the smoke problems only if there was insufficient ventilation but can greatly improve the efficiency of a fire.
  13. As I wish to graze some sheep under the trees I doubt the spirals would work. I like the idea of using guards a second time and had thought about this myself. I would be happy to take any second hand guards from the national forest if anyone has any 1.2 m. Does anyone have any experience of lightly grazing under planted trees?
  14. I am looking for around 800 1.2 m tree shelters near to Burton on trent. where is the best place and how does price and quality compare?
  15. pigeon, rabbit and deer shooting. Oh and my 4 veg gardens, polytunnel and a couple of gardening jobs
  16. Just read this thread and was interested in your comment about being paralysed in a car accident. I too was paralysed T7 when I rolled my landrover on a main road 12 years ago. Just bought some land within the National forest area and will be planting it up with some trees with their help. I use a manual wheelchair which is towed by a Swiss Trac. Google it if you don't know what it is!. It would be good to catch up sometime.
  17. 1 Square metre per bird if covered run. 3 Square metres per bird in open topped run should be about right.
  18. It will depend if you want the birds to destroy the grass or not. If you can keep the rain off the area it will be clean and dry. The birds will like dusting themselves and you will not need a very big run or put a dusting area in a larger pen so you keep some grass. Dusting area can be made with a roof made from a couple of corrugated iron sheets on four legs with a bit of a slope.
  19. Shoot one and another one will be along soon! Electric fence round the bottom of a fence and another strand half way up. Leave the top of the fence a bit loose. I did this for years and never lost any and never shot any foxes near me. I believe you are better not shooting the resident foxes that already know where the electric fences are. New once to the area might just get in if they are lucky but the resident foxes will keep others away.
  20. The biggest problem is most people don't care enough to try and find out what food is really produced in this country and those who do care find it hard to find this out from the confusing packaging. So this will, or should give the public a simple choice. Do you want to buy british and support the british farmer or do you want to buy anything from anywhere if it is cheap enough!
  21. I thought it was a good idea! It will show whether or not the public is willing to support the british farmer and the extra should be going to the farmers
  22. Barrier H
  23. I thought that but only if someone is near enough to make it worth their while and if they want to give something more than firewood value
