  1. https://www.gov.uk/prevent-wild-birds-damaging-your-land-farm-or-business#general-licences-killing-or-taking-birds It says If these birds aren’t currently using a nest, you can remove or destroy it at any time without a licence. I would not like to say whether building a nest would be classed as using though
  2. I would like to take you up on that offer. Depending on the access and soil type it might be best to wait for it to dry up a bit first.
  3. The land naturally floods as it is between two rivers but the water can drain back fairly well. The ditches could do with cleaning out so I could think about some mounding at the same time but as I am a wheelchair user I want to keep the land fairly flat in general. I have a very useful machine that tows my wheelchair, It copes very well on grass land but doesn't like muddy ditches much. As to the long term plan it is just something I have always fancied doing and maybe I will get a few logs. I don't think there are any roe in the area and I have not seen any hares around but I will have to check it out.
  4. Just had my offer on 4 acres flood land accepted. Any advice about planting willow, poplar, alder or any other suggestions? Also anyone in Staffordshire with any fast growing hybrids with some cuttings for sale
  5. Not sure if you are at Salisbury yet but when you do and can get outside there is a fabulous garden called the Horatio garden there. It was funded by the parents of the lad that got killed by a polar bear on a school trip 3 or 4 years ago. Anyone interested look up the Horatio garden!
  6. Just look at the verges of motorways and town roads if you want to see litter. You don't need to go into the countryside to see crap everywhere. It disgusts me.
  7. No one deserves to get punched at work no matter what they say or do. I understand the police are looking into this and considering taking action
  8. I am paraplegic T7 following an accident in a landrover 11 years ago. I have continued to work outdoors in one way or another since and also work for a charity giving advice in 2 of the spinal injury centres. If you ever want to chat please let me know. I feel much the same way as you. Still alive and getting on with it!
  9. I was pigeon shooting in a wood with a public footpath running through it today. When I got back to the car and took my swiss trac off the wheelchair( the swiss tras tows the chair off road) I put my hand on something soft on the push rims. Yes you guessed it not mud but dog poo. Just because they are in the country they never bother to pick it up!
  10. I would have got into garden maintenance when younger and fit if I had the same knowledge as I did when I was older and still quite fit:001_tongue:
  11. I have a mattress with a 2 inch memory foam layer on top. It is the best mattress I have had but my needs are different to most. I have to be careful of my skin due to paralysis but need the edge of the mattress to remain firm enough to allow me to lift all my weight on my fist without it sinking too far in when I transfer to the wheelchair
  12. Steak and sausage for tea. Does meat always taste better when it is some you have shot yourself. No kidding it was the best steak ever!!!!!
  13. I would love to come but as I would need hand controls I would only be a spectator!
  14. Hanging in a mate's walk in fridge:biggrin:
  15. carcase weights were 70 KG. Hanging for a week before cutting up
  16. Any idea what they are worth?
  17. farmer is a very good friend but that is a good idea. once the freezer is full the next one should be sold and split the cash with him
  18. I have the required qualifications in large and small game but will be sharing this meat with my best mate that helped me today
  19. looking for a large chest freezer and recipes for venison ham
  20. 2 Shots 2 Kills. Yes a have a good mate and the farmer used the tractor and loader to bring them up. They are wanting to reduce to numbers as they are breaking the fences on the farm and the grazing too. I will know soon if they want more shot. There was a group of 10 today. 1 large stag 7 hinds and 3 last year calves. I think today was to prove myself as much as anything but they were very happy with the results
  21. off to bed now. Need a steady aim for tomorrow
  22. We can shoot hinds up to the end of March and stags till end of April then Stags again from 1st August and Hinds 1st November. It is no wonder you are over run with such a short season
  23. I know a set up that has split the work between Tree Surgery and Stump grinding invoices
  24. Maybe I should come soon then. It looks like being wet here tomorrow so muddy wheels. Just me and one other guy on a small dairy farm with a bunch of about 10 reds regularly grazing
  25. I doubt I would cope with your terrain. I shoot from a wheelchair. But would love to come see the deer and the scenery
