  2. My dad has a husqy 135, which we both you for cutting small diameter firewood. They are a nice saw in the hand, the only problem we find with it, is that sometimes in can be a pain to start.
  3. Thats brilliant. wonder how long it took to make.
  4. Thats brilliant, i prefer burr walnut, but if not anything that is similar or dark. Please pm me with details of cost etc.
  5. Cheers for the reply alec, just what i was wanting, some detailed info. I am planning on using some modern veneer about 1.6mm thick.
  6. Hi, i have a small wooden jewelry type box that has sentimental value for my dad. It is a plain wooden box about 80 yr old. He has asked me if i can do anything with it. It looks like it was originally veneered, so this is how i want to restore it.I am wanting to cover it with burr walnut veneer. i have seen several places on the net where i can buy it from, unless anybody on here can supply me some. However i have never done any veneering so any hints or tips would be most welcome. thanks.
  7. Cracking pictures, keep em coming.
  8. I saw a picture of it in the sun last week, looks really nice.
  9. I have a makita and i'm well pleased with it. Had it over 3 years and still not missed a beat. I still get the feeling that some people will rubbish any saw that is not stihl / husqy.
  10. Thanks for the feedback.
  11. Ian, your work is really outstanding, can i please ask a few questions, what type of router bit do you use, is it v groove or a u groove, what type of timber do you find best to use, and finally do you use any thing else like a dremel etc for your finer work. The reason for my questions, is that i have only really done detail routing in mdf, but the local church has asked if i could do something in timber. Thanks h.
  12. conisborough is very close to me, thanks for the heads up.
  13. I really like that, nice work.
  14. i have one of those single ring gas cookers you get in a plastic case. Does the job just fine for me, but have always fancied a coleman, especially as it runs on 2 stroke.
  15. I have a cheap garmin, its ok but not brilliant. I took it to the lake district the other year, and it kept loosing signal. It was about about 3 mile behind me, which resulted in missed junctions. Didnt think a satnav could be behind !!!!!!
  16. My old maths teacher had a new suky sj when they first came out with a little 1 ltr engine, he puuse to pull a small cattle trailer with two pigs in every so often, he took the pigs in on way to school then picked up the meat on the way home.
  17. in the seventies, i can remember the bloke from local chippy delivering my mam a weekly bag of spuds. The pop delivery with dandilion and burdock, getting 10p back for returning the bottles, my dad having a series landy, then getting a vauxhall viva in gold, and then getting a brand new lada with a vinyl roof. A butchers shop on the corner with its own abatoir, and watching the local livestock owners taking their pet pigs or whatever and hearing the gunshot. I also remember being scared of the local police who new everyone. What about jack charltons soccer school on sat morning tv. The dukes of hazard with daisy duke. I can also remember my next door neighbour, an old guy who kept chickens on his allotment, every sunday he would go and get one and kill it for his sunday dinner. He would pluck and dress it outside on his doorstep.
  18. That is some seriously good workmanship.
  19. what dealerships are local to you. Is this an important factor for you. I personally like makita / dolmar. But it is up to you.
  20. Another vote here for makita / dolmar, spares from any makita dealer.
  21. i have the 16 gauge pin gun variant. I did find it very good, but then the rubber bands that return the firing pin snapped, i replaced them easy enough, but the gun hasn't fired properly since. Have had it into dealers, they say there is nothing wrong with it. Just sat in garage now going to waste.
  22. makita v dewalt v milwaukee v metabo.
  23. the coil nailer in machine mart takes between 44 - 70mm nails. They also do a strip nail version.
  24. Depends on what type you want, strip or coil. Personally i would go bostich like mr varty, but machine mart do a nice little coil nailer for about £150, which is a good little thing.
  25. makita / dolmar for me.
