  1. Nice one james. What vehicle combo did you do it with. Like you said, take your time with the reversing and its a lot easier.
  2. I always add a carriage / handling fee to any main materials that i have to supply. As i work as a joiner, i have come across this problem before, i just give them what they want, so if they want to shop around for cheaper materials (dont we all ?) they can do. I just explain that i wont provide any sort of guarantee on work carried out using their materials, and any shortfall/wrong stuff is their problem. I then either get asked to do the job, or i walk away.
  3. Well done mr varty, nice to see the softer side of people towards animals.
  4. Thats a nice idea. Yes this trailer is brilliant for getting into tight spaces. I use it like a wheelbarrow sometimes. I carnt believe my dad has had this in his garage for about 3 yrs and never really used it.
  5. Cheers lads. Must have put my decimal point in wrong bob. Like i said before, its the first time i've really sold any. I got ask for a small load for an old (ish) lady, so i just made this load up from stuff off the pile, so no extra work involved really. I'm happy i think with £30, for odd trailer load.
  6. This will be my first foray into the world of selling logs. Up until now all the wood i have got i have cut and stored to be used soley for my family. However, i have been asked to supply a few customers with the odd small load just now and again. I am planning on just using my small erde 102 trailer for now, and if they need a larger load then i will use my big trailer. The dimensions of my little erde is 1050 x 840 x 320. I believe this gives just over half a cube. I would be supplying a mixed load, basically whatever i have to hand. So how much do you think i should charge ? I was thinking around the £30 mark. The load in the picture is one which contains 5 carrier bags of sticks, which this customer requested.
  7. Just to add, there are many people on here running makita's and dolmars. They are a good saw.
  8. my dad uses a bosch one attached to a saw horse. No problems at all on light duties.
  9. Roads. They are an absolute joke these days. Potholes, roadworks etc, they are an embarrasment.
  10. David, well done on the job front. Now please learn all you can from it, stick at it. and please keep your mouth shut unless its to ask questions. Well done and all the best.
  11. I quite agree with you on this andy. I think its the same with any trade tho. I saw it a lot when working on the building sites, people leaving gear out all over the place. I think part of the problem is that people just get out all their kit instead of just what is required, and also if it doesnt belong to them, people are less inclined to ensure everything is put away correctly.
  12. Oh, and please expand on the job, please give more details.
  13. David, you are verging on arguing again, as in previous threads. you are asking for someone to chip that pile of rubbish for you, yet there is no mention of pay etc. The best solution would be to burn it. If you carnt do that then i would enquire about the price of a skip.
  14. I got fed up of buying expensive tapes whilst working on site, i love the stanley powerlock, but got fed up of them being pinched, so i bought 3 or 4 b&q 8mtr tapes, and hayho, not one pinched and ok i might only get a year out of them, but at about £4.00 a time, i dont mind.
  15. David, have you thought about job agencies, there should be some around you offering warehouse type work or drivers mate jobs. Ok money is low but it is money after all. Or have you tried farm labouring or something in a similar role. Yes its low paid but at least you would be working, gaining some experience of work and earning money. Also get on your bike and get pedling, the further you go, the more you will achieve. Good luck.
  16. I think jon (mendiplogs) has one, and he really rates his.
  17. Timberbear, i like the look of that, what make / model is it.
  18. Haha, i'm sure i had this guy trying to pressure my dad into buying one just b4 xmas. He had just started the thing when i turned up. Claimed we had to buy it now he had started it up as they wouldnt let him back on the ferry with it. But my dad did buy some socks.
  19. :lol:showing initiative, less bodywork, more payload.
  20. I used to be the same, but one simple step i took to ease my mind, was to make sunday a day of rest. The only thing i do, is to spend time with the family and chill. I dont go anywhere near the tools. It may not ease the workload, but it does ease the stress on the mind.
  21. Shavey, has yours got that horrible chunky looking tool-less tensioner system or the old type screw bar type. I can only find one model that has the normal type of tension screw.
  22. Cheers for that shavey.
  23. I was looking at a mitox at the weekend in a stihl dealership. To me it looked and felt plasticky, but maybe its because of its colour. I am interested in this because i'm after a cheap new saw, to be used on rough stuff so to speak. I have had a mcculloch for god knows how many years and it has never let me down, although its time it was replaaced. I have been looking at a new mac, but just wondered if the mitox was worth a punt.
  24. Gardenkit, how would you say the standard mitox saw ( back handle ) compares with the likes of mcculloch for a cheap back up saw / rough saw. As presumably they are very close on price.
  25. Along the same lines, how do you get your pictures onto google images ?
