  1. The downside with grants is you have to prove you have or have access to the full amount you need to purchase the item. Once the grant is approved and you have the offer letter you purchase the item, send proof showing the funds leaving your bank account and obtain receipt from the seller and then you can claim your 40% back! Seems pointless giving a grant if you have to have the money in the first place!
  2. I always remember a girl I used to work with went to the docs with her hubby to enquire about him getting the snip. When the doctor asked what form of contraception they used at the moment, she replied "A wall and two doors!"
  3. Lovely looking items there, I would love to be able to do something like that:thumbup:
  4. The lads from County Durham Logs currently have someone doing some felling and extraction for them in Durham. Mark of CDL goes by the name elfinwood saws on here
  5. Unfortunately you have just missed out on the only one I knew about - the Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme - the closing date was 17 July!
  6. For hardwood I have been quoted £45 or £50 plus vat per ton delivered.
  7. May be of interest to someone on here: Pto wich, tractor winch, forestry, tree surgery | eBay
  8. That's a beaut, absolutely mint. I also like Tom Sheppards G Wagen - its a 290 LWB van, would make a great work vehicle
  9. I was after a Stihl HS45 hedge trimmer and out of 5 local'ish companies I contacted Gateshead Lawn Mower Centre were the best price and when I went to collect it the service was second to none - I can fully recommend them:thumbup:
  10. After twenty years of Land Rover ownership I switched to a Ford Ranger Super cab last year. Until the last year or so, I worked in an office job and had the Land Rover as I always wanted one from the moment I got my first Britains farm one as a young lad. I loved driving Series motors then Defenders and ended up with a Freelander and used to off road a lot, use them for shooting and as every day transport. The Ranger came about because I started a firewood/gardening business and needed something bigger than the Freelander/Defenders. Whilst I would have another Defender tomorrow, I love the Ranger - more mpg, more comfortable, your right elbow can actually stay in the cab, the wipers go fast and faster rather than slow and stop, the heater puts out...heat,the super cab configuration means you actually have somewhere to store stuff and the pick up is bigger volume wise than a 90 or 110 (apart from the hi-cap). You would save money with a non Land Rover as will probably be more economical but more importantly there are not the huge range of extras to buy for them! If you WANT a Land Rover then buy one...the question is do you NEED one?
  11. What do you class as "shite" mpg? I've got one on my Ranger Super Cab and get 31mpg.
  12. Is this not exactly what you're expecting people to do to you, ie your expecting them to employ you to cut their tree down and let you take away "something of value" for nothing? Or if I asked you to take down a tree and told you I wanted to keep the logs would you charge me more than if you were taking the logs?
  13. He's like the missing chuckle brother!!
  14. Borrowed a petrol lawn mower of a friend and he said I've got some petrol you can use as well and passed me this out of the van:its an Eversure Fillican from the early 1960s, with a handle that become a spout!!
  15. I read a while back to change the alternator on a Range Rover Sport its a body off job
  16. It was cancelled a few years back when it was due to be at Harewood House in Leeds and the organisers stated they would not come north again as nowhere had the site to cope with bad weather!!
  17. Obviously depends on your age and post code, but my 07 plate Ranger is with Direct Line at £577 - last year they charged £640, first time ever I have had a reduction in premium.
  18. What volume do the IBC cages hold?
  19. Real bad news Justin, hope the show goes well for you.
  20. Obviously not processed. This is for roundwood which is what the original post implied.
  21. 26 ton load of mixed hardwood timber - £45-50 per ton plus VAT at 20%. Although it does vary nationally, cheaper down south from what I gather going by previous threads.
  22. I run a Palax KS35 with a chainsaw and yes, it does create more waste but I sell the sawdust to one of my customers who has horses. When you stop operating the chainsaw it stops straight away whereas I was told the blades slow down before s topping which means you cannot open the guard over the splitting bay to reposition log untils it stops - dont know how true this is. I find I can get two days cutting dry hardwood out of a chain before it needs sharpening and to change it takes 5 minutes. Its the same with everything - if there are two versions of the same product you will get good and bad views on both, boils down to personal preference.
  23. Are the smaller JCB Fastracs like the 1135 (I think!) any good?

You might struggle finding a Dodge Charger as a General Lee as they wrecked nearly 90 making the series! If you're not all careful, I'll starting singing the theme tune to "BJ and the Bear"!!

I know! Keep going back to look at it. My friend who is not as tall as me said if he drove it he would have to move the bench so far forward, if I was a passenger I would have to put my feet in my pockets!!
