  1. Whilst the first part of your post is correct Rupe, the second is not. PPI never had anything to do with PAYE (and if it did no one would have got paid if it was left to the Inland Revenue!). If a customer was employed they contacted the insurance company who issued a claim form. This would be completed by the persons employer and doctor for sickness or DSS for unemployment. In the case of the self employed it would be completed by their doctor and accountant. Payment would then be made to refund the customer the amount of the loan payment and a continuation form issued for each month the customer was claiming for. No involvement with PAYE whatsoever. I know self employed customers I sold PPI to who did make successful claims and actually came back to thank me for explaining about the protection at the time.
  2. Might know somebody who would be interested in the pto bits if you want to part with them.

  5. Well, all I can say CSS is at Barclays self employed were covered, had claimed and were successful in receiving payouts. It certainly was not illegal to sell ppi to self employed.
  6. Bought a pair of Grafters last year - laces snapped after a few months, insoles lifted after about 7 months and then got a split in the heal right through to the other side which let water in. Went for a replacement pair of boots in March;unfortunately only Grafters felt comfortable so for £35 went for another pair. Have replaced the laces (with a pair from Jack Wolfskin trainers I wore for nearly six years and then put in the previous pair of Grafters) already and now the insoles are lifting out again. I will not be buying another pair.
  7. As I used to work for a high street bank I can tell you self employed are covered as ppi covers you for death - and self employed do die: - sickness - self employed do fall ill. Where a lot of self employed come undone is that there claims had to be backed up by their accountant and from my experience a lot of self employed put very little through their accounts so the accountant could not verify much!! But self employed are covered. I'm not saying ppi has not been mis-sold but I think a lot of people have mis-claimed refunds as even those that claimed on their insurance and had a payout are claiming mis-selling and getting money back! How was it mis-sold if it paid out during the term of the loan??!!
  8. We had a similar situation last year. Item had been withdrawn off ebay, seller wanted us to pay via ebay payment protection scheme to a third party. When I rang ebay there were as much use as the proverbial chocolate fire guard! Google research and feedback from members on here told me not to do it and there were right!! If you really want it, go and see it.
  9. I find posts like this quite annoying. You have obviously spent a lot of money on the stove, installation, etc so what makes you think you should be able to get the fuel for free??? You would not install a new gas central heating system and ask British Gas for free gas would you? Any reputable woodfuel seller has probably bought timber in, seasoned it, processed it and delivered it so it aint going to be free or cheap.
  10. A friend of mine bought a new concrete pecker for his 360 and decided to try it out on my oversize stuff, prob 20 inch diameter, and it split them no problem.
  11. As above. I've just paid £8 per ton

  13. If its for your own use why not just hire some one in. There's a guy on ebay reckons he can do 4-5 tons an hour with a Japa. Be a darn site cheaper than buying one.
  14. Join the club Steve! My mate sold it to the guy at Carlisle you bought it off, about 18 months ago and we have missed it ever since. Even got a forestry job we are trying to gain that it would be ideal for!!!

Now don't you think Land Rover should have built this years ago????????
  16. And what do you actually do with the end product???
  17. Have always wanted to raise a few pigs - not a big fan of pork but love sausages, ham, bacon, salami, etc and think it would be fantastic knowing exactly where it came from.
  18. A guy on the radio said the only risk to humans would be if you ate 600 pure horse meat burgers in a day and even then the risk was very low. I would say non existent as I don't think anyone could eat 600 burgers in a day. And live!!! I did hear a while ago Asda had been done for refreezing meat getting close to its sell by date and then putting it back out on the shelves.
  19. Yard of mixed hardwood timber and burr elm - ideal for firewood and wood-turning - buyer collects in East Lothian | Other Household Goods for Sale | Gumtree.com All short pieces, probably arb waste, no good for collection by timber wagon or for processor
  20. I have a 2007 Ford Ranger on 235 75 15 Michelin LTX AT tyres. They have done 56,000 miles but the front left one has worn on the outer edge due to the tracking being out. The spare is brand new. My friend who is a tyre fitter has advised me to buy one new one and put this on the back with the spare and move the rear tyres to the front - and then obviously sort the tracking out. Problem - Michelin do not make the tyre any more, which is a shame as they are a good pattern, quiet, perform well and last. I did find two new ones on ebay but they would have been £200 delivered and I was thinking should I spend 200 squid on tyres I cannot replace in the future if there are further problems. I have always been a fan of BFGs and can get all terrains for £115 each or General Grabber AT2s for £87 (whilst I like these I do wonder how they would affect the mpg??). So options are: 1. put the spare on rear axle and move that tyre to front, replacing the worn one. Cost - nothing 2. replace all four with Generals (expect 30,000 miles apparently) or BFGs (unwearoutable!!) 3. try and find a new Michelin or a good part one - anybody got one???

  22. Dave, are the logs packed in touching each other or is there a gap between the rows - does it really matter how you stack them???
  23. Hi Mat - Re the picture of the white Discovery in the muddy water - I hope that is the lane itself. Just it looks from the photo that the Disco behind is on the lane and about to drive along the ruts behind the stuck Discovery. It looks as though people in the past have turned off the designated track to go through the water.
