  1. Search ex mod dealers as they sometimes have heavy duty stillages
  2. There was a farmer in LRO magazine years ago converted a TDi Discovery in to a truck cab pick up with a 5th wheel in the bed to tow his cattle trailer. Again it looked really good.
  3. Got two day tickets for £52 pre booked actually, about two weeks ago so the savings must have been better then. Just hope it does not rain too much this week as that is why they cancelled it years ago and vowed they would never return.
  4. Tut tut Steve, suicide doors!!! An Isuzu sales person told me they now have to call them facility doors!
  5. Depending on your budget I don't think you will find a HiLux and the extra space in a Mitsubishi looks really small. If you are going to be putting gear in the cab every day you really want the convenience of opening doors like this so do not discount the older Rangers.

    Auction

Went to an auction today of a plant company that was closing down. It had had some billing on the auctioneers web site for months, "vast selection of tools and spares." Well, after such a build up - it was disappointing to say the least. Who wants to buy used air filters? If I described a lot of the items as scrap, I wouldn't be exaggerating - a scrapman loaded most of it on to his truck at the end of the sale so the price for scrap must be high if he can afford to buy it. There was a TD5 90 truck cab pick up, 130k miles, average condition with 12m mot - sold for £4900 plus vat which I would have said was high. A canny selection of vintage tractors ranging from little grey Fergies (about 7!) to Majors, Ford 4000s, Massey 35,135 and a nice International B250: prices ranged from £700 to £3800. There was a Valtra 8100 we were interested in, a little rough around the edges, clock was showing just under 13,000 hours but when you turned the key on the electrics were all over the place: £8,000. Other one we were keen on was a Ford 7810 4 wheel drive but the cab was rotten and engine had a nasty knock:£5500. So all I bought was a cup of tea and piece of cake and then a sausage sandwich and a cuppa - much to the wifes relief! But it was an enjoyable day out in good company in beautiful countryside!
  7. Jon, a guy in Australia remodelled his Discovery after he had an accident and made it in to a ute - the result was very impressive and I certainly think Land Rover missed a trick!
  8. Don't think it's finished Jon, he keeps breaking too many other vehicles!!
  9. That's nice!! Is it a Bedford??
  10. I would certainly recommend an extra cab. I do gardening work and deliver logs so find the extra cab space for keeping gear clean and seperate really useful but get one with the opening rear door - Ford Ranger, Nissan Navarra or the new Isuzu. The rear buck of a double cab is surprisingly small.
  11. Thought that would've been a reason to buy it!!!!
  12. Useful looking truck on ebay Tavern APV2 rebuilt Chevrolet 3500HD Pickup truck GMC diesel RHD 4x4 | eBay
  13. I think grants are available for this. There may be a local organisation, mine is Northwoods, who would prepare a management plan and apply for the licences and in return they receive the grant available for doing the work. There is a Yorwoods and Cumbrian Woodlands so I would imagine there may be a similar organisation covering your area.
  14. Jungle formula in a spray can - usually get two and a sting lotion from Costco. Haven't used Avon Skin So Soft but apparently Royal Marines used to be one of their biggest customers so it must work!
  15. A good selection of German equipment there too. Although the half tracks are actually copies that were built in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s (apparently they took all the good bits of the German version .... and left them out!!) and the small armoured cars are copies built on Land Rover chassis!!
  16. Thanks Ted, hope you're well.
  17. Hi Jon, it's 1974 475 with the Perkins engine. The Ford is a 4610 (with God awful column gear change!!).
  18. Travelled down to this show today, well worth it. Some great vehicles and encampments plus a Spitfire flypast!
  19. I posted this yesterday but it seems to have disappeared! My little International ran the firewood processor two days this week and then Friday ran bales back to my friends farm.
  20. Lidl had them on offer yesterday Mark!!
  21. Whilst I like the look of them and have no doubt they are very capable I bet they are very expensive and I couldn't see two ton of timber on the back of one.
  22. Ha ha, I take it you mean Bren Carrier! I did wonder if my mate put the rail on so we could mount a .50cal Browning but him being an archer it was lost on him!!
  23. " Thats the theory anyway so it should end up a decent little ten ton 4x4 Bowser, tipper and timber truck run about." How do you turn a 4 ton Bedford in to a ten ton truck??
  24. You need something like this - carries a couple of ton no bother, copes with hills and wet ground easily and hardly leaves a mark on dry ground!
  25. That's one neat truck RCO, keep the pictures coming!!
