  1. Have a look at the Vreten. I have the 10 ton version which you can retract/extend. The crane is very good, probably too big for the trailer. All up cost was £17500 plus vat. The Kesla was the same price but the dealer was much further away. Don't forget the grants are out now so if you can hang fire (as the decisions are not made until June) it may be worth applying for a grant.
  2. So after 145 views, somebody tells me to put it on the Woodcraft Forum - which is where it is posted! Can no one even tell me what the growth is? Why its there? Is it unusual?
  3. I have this piece of Silver Birch, approx 3m in length and it has this big growth round the middle. Would be worth anything to woody people???
  4. Don't have Sky Jon but bought the DVDs. Todd Hoffman has not got a scooby doo, his dad has the most irritating voice, I'm surprised they get away with the massive environmental damage they cause and I think what would have been a good series would have been when Parkers grandad was pulling big nuggets out of Big Nugget mine. He's a real character and a nice guy.

  6. I've had my 07 Ranger for four years and love it to bits, does everything I need it to do. Comfortable, reliable, economical, quick, good steering lock. I can't understand why more people don't use them as I cannot remember the last time I saw a passenger in the back of a double cab! Bigger load bed in the super cab is more useful. If you want opening suicide (or facility doors as someone told me they are now called!!) you will have to buy a Ford Ranger or Nissan Navarra. Isuzu also do it if you are looking at new vehicles. The Toyota and Mitsubishi do not have opening rear doors.
  7. Nice truck and Victoria is one of my favourite places you lucky man!!
  8. As above plus rust in footwells, door frames, bulkhead (top and sides), rear crossmember, timing belt would be a must to change upon purchase for peace of mind. No room in cab for storing anything (including right arm when driving!). Other than that just be mindful of what you would usually look at when buying what has probably been used hard as a commercial vehicle. At the end of the day there are many out there so take your time to find a good one and remember if it is too good to be true, it definately will be!!
  9. Jon, I got mine from Forest and Arb some time ago as they offered best price Gransfors Splitting Maul Due in in April if you can wait!
  10. You would also need a fair amount of storage space to stack the 25 ton of roundwood and then the processed product. And have you get handling equipment to safely get 3m logs off the stack?
  11. Could you not just use a buffer and G3??
  12. Thanks chaps. Chopperbob I think that sounds the same as mine as undoing the two pipes will release the pressure and enable you to prime without too much effort.
  13. Any advice on how to change the fuel filter on a 2007 Ranger??? Last guy to do it ended up damaging the diaphragm inside the housing. Someone else mentioned taking the fuel lines off the top. I have downloaded to workshop manual but it does not mention fuel filter at all!!
  14. It is my understanding the Ranger was a Mazda built in Thailand that then was rebadged when it came to the UK. The current version is the only one that has been designed and built by Ford. On my 2007 version, as soon as you engage 4 high the RFW engages, and then stays engaged as you move to 4 Low. Moving back to 2 High the RFW remains engaged until you manually switch it off. It's never been a problem.
  15. Think you would struggle getting 7 people in there - its just a double cab pick up with a canopy on the back.
  16. Bolam strikes again!!!

  18. Is that not a thing of real beauty!!!
  19. My mate just got a hard top from 4x4 Accessories and Tyres Ltd for his new HiLux and I think it was about 1200
  20. The trouble is: the perfect vehicle does not exist - they all have foibles, you will mostly hear bad stories rather than good ones because unhappy people tend to be louder. The day of the solid, reliable, tough as old boots, ugly square 4x4 are gone; as can be seen engine sizes are getting smaller. I love my 2007 Ranger Super Cab but think it would be the bees knees with permanent four wheel drive; diff locks, coil suspension; and a 4 litre diesel - but I realise that ain't going to happen and so live with and treat it accordingly. I think Land Rover missed the boat when Discovery 2 came out - the commercial was a great success but they should have gone one further and made a pick up version, with an option for 130 wheelbase too, and a super cab so you can actually carry some kit in it. Somebody mentioned an Ibex earlier - always liked them for being different and unusual but you end buying an already expensive Land Rover, giving it to some one else who will then charge you even more money to make it even smaller inside! This was one of my favourites of recent years - my uncles friends truck in Vancouver Island: a GMC 6.6 litre diesel, can tow 20,000lbs, has air brakes and was like a gentlemans club inside! The Discovery Ute was built many years ago by a guy in Australia and looked really good. Land Rover should have taken note. At the end of the day though, all manufacturers are looking to sell volume - they are not interested in the 1% who want a tough as old boots, tow a house down, carry an elephant 4x4; they want to sell "trucks" that are car like to people who are used to driving cars.
  21. Thats the trouble Jon, he is larger than the show and he knows it so thinks he can do anything. Should've got the push years ago. It stopped being a proper car show and is just a platform for three posh kids to fool around on. Bring back Noel Edmonds!!
  22. Very quick and very good answer Steve!
  23. Now now Jon, you posted this not too long ago and I told you to buy the 4X4 Magazine as they had just done their pickup of the year test. Ranger came out tops yet again and it is easier to get a hold of one now.
