  1. Apparently coming out in the new year, similar to last time - a farming and forestry improvement scheme. 40% grant available for dedicated forestry equipment(but obviously you have to have 100% and prove this as you have to buy the item first then claim your grant money back!!). Not sure you would get grant for compact tractor as could be used for other purposes. Apparently they will look favourably at applications that create jobs, are innovative and promote collaboration with other companies. Probably best you email your forestry commission rep to register your interest and they then apparently help with application process.
  2. Had my eye on this one for a while - waterproof, windproof, breathable and light weight for £75, not sure how hard wearing it would be though. Mallard Waterproof Jacket | Anorak & Coats | Ridgeline |ArdMoor
  3. Interesting web site, not sure if its been on here before Couch Off-Road Engineering: UNIMOG Sales, Customization, Service & Repair

This looks rather smart and useful! VW Tristar pick up concept hints at new T6 Transporter | Auto Express
  5. Your product sounds fine for power station but not the type of boilers that take G30 or G50 chip. A lot of the contracts state it must be produced from virgin timber and not have any green in, ie leaves so chipping brash would be out.
  6. Extreme talent to carve that in one go. There was a a piece of wooden chain as well comprising half a dozen links someone had said that was carved from one piece of timber as well! Ah, i see about the chains now.
  7. After having watched the carving at the APF show on Friday, I have a few questions. I noticed quite a few of the carvers were working with the chains on their saws really loose, like hanging down with plenty daylight between chain and bar. Is this normal when carving? Somebody had a round wooden ball inside a box (should have taken a photo!) - would that have been carved in one or the ball done then popped in the structure?? Amazed at peoples talents when presented with a solid lump of wood and thing of beauty emerges. Really liked the big pine cone - simple but elegent.
  8. They should have a stamp on somewhere and it usually has HT for heat treated rather than chemical so HT should be okay to burn.
  9. As I've said before in response to similar questions, there is a company advertising on their website they can produce 15 cube an hour! From what looks like a small processor. Hire them in for a few days and get all your processing done. Massive saving on cost of machine and tractor and your time.
  10. That blue HiLux has been on ebay for over a year and he said then it had sold a few weeks ago and got a bit shirty when questioned as to why he still advertised it!!
  11. Farmer friend was showing me a chainsaw he had just bought off ebay - brand new Husqvarna lookly likey but what was clever was the plug spanner was stored in the underside of the handle and you just popped the screwdriver end out, rotated it downwards and then slide out side wards. very clever and at least you would always have your spanner with you. Stihl and Husqvarna need to catch up with that one!!!
  12. Always remember seeing a Camel Trophy 110 advertised with only 7,000 miles on ..... but oh what miles they were!!! it read!!
  13. Ah, not too far away but as I said he did not buy, still hires in at the moment and both companies use Heizorhacks. I believe one of them was brand new but chip quality was poor and with a lot of dust and oversize.
  14. Depends where you are!!! But he didnot buy one due to lack of funds! http://www.freedomgreenenergy.co.uk/starchl-wood-chippers.aspx I think this is them.
  15. As part of my multi varied career, I work for a company providing training for commercial fishermen. I would strongly recommend life jackets no matter if you are going fresh water or salt water and doing a sea survival course. I always remember observing a course and the instructor relating a story from his days as a fisherman. He was sailing by himself and went overboard. He states he is only here today down to one simple fact - he always used to put a rope over the side and when he went in he was only able to get in by hauling himself up this rope. As a non fishing person I am amazed at the number of commercial fishermen I deal with who do not wear a life jacket. Their main reason - their dad didn't, their grandad didn't and they do not want to be the first to do so! Simples, you get on a boat - put a life jacket on - it will save your life.
  16. Best quality G30 and G50 chip my friend has seen came out of a Starchl chipper. We went to Ireland to look at some 2 years ago as there were none in England. We saw a truck mounted version and a tractor towed, pto version both produced much better quality than the Heizohacks or Jens he has hired in.
  17. I do exactly the same with exactly the same vehicle (and before you say it Mark, no we don't share it). I like the canopy on as it keeps the stock dry, I can leave it parked overnight outside the house with a full load on knowing it is secure'ish and dry, and I used the pick up for other uses so the canopy is useful. I used to put a tarpaulin down in the rear before loading and then when had small amount left in I could just pull them out but that did not last long. The loadhandlers sit on the tailgate so would interfere with top tailgate so they would not work. Short of a walking floor or having rear converted to tipper using existing rear body I think we are stuck hand balling them out.
  18. Would you cut their trees for free for a year??
  19. Saw a XTEC a while ago Jon and the reg was X90 TEC - I thought that's probably lost on 99.9% of the people who notice it!!!
  20. It soon adds up - those wheels are expensive, would say could be £3000 for the wheels and tyres, drawers in the back probably £500, the Camelback canopy probably £1500, winch and bumper £800 -1000, Mantec wheel carrier £250, under body protection £500, light bars would be pricey.
  21. Is that not a question you should answer before you make them?? If you've made them you know what they've cost you and you should know what profit you need.
