  1. Ross ..... are trying to upset me??? Just got two loads in from Scotts. Ordered sub 14 inch timber, not the 34 inch ash piece that I got!!! Bring it home with you mate and I'll have it:thumbup:
  2. One of my favourite shows when I was a lad. Thought the fact the Firebird had no door frame around the window was so cool!! Not just a good actor, he also seemed to be just a decent, down to earth kinda guy.
  3. Too true eddie. The guy we bought ours off said there are cheaper Chinese ones available but they do not have any steel strengtheners inside them so they only last 2 minutes. He put a decent set of Marooka tracks on ours before we picked it up.
  4. Yes John, it is doing minimal damage to the rides and as you say it flattens some bits out. It is a Marooka dumper with a Komatsu engine. If your interested I can get the details of the guy we bought it from. He had them in all different sizes from one ton to about 16 ton and was better priced than Cautrac. It hasn't been over any stumps yet as we've kept it to the rides for extraction of the timber we are winching down.
  5. new nissan navarra - Bing Videos Looks like an ad for the new one (Ta da!!! That was my 1000th post since joining!!!)
  6. Mid section looks like standard Navarra. Its just had bloated wings fitted front and back
  7. Could be jumping from the frying pan in to the fire!! It's a Land Rover - it will be great off road and at towing but why do you think there are so many parts manufacturers and distributors. Have a look on one of the Land Rover forums for the three amigos - three warning lights on dash that are regular problems. I know ABS is one, cannot remember the other two. Check chassis condition as well for rust. I know on TD5 90 they say to disconnect wiring loom where it connects to ECU and check for oil coming down the wires - could be same on Discovery. at the end of the day there are loads out there so take your time.
  8. Thank you for all the comments guys. Stephen, the one you bought was originally owned by my friend who sold it to the guy you bought it from. We missed it every day since!! My friend likes thinking outside the box! The dumper was purchased from a guy near Bingley who imports them direct from Japan. Unlike the one you ended up with Steve, the seat on this one does not turn around. In fact I think of the dozen we viewed there was only one or two that did but they were on much bigger machines. Hence the controls being where they are. The pictures were of its "sea trials" to see what works and what could be better. The grab is very small and cannot pick much up and does not have much power but will have to do for now. Logrover - we don't use it for tree surgery. We are felling on an estate where they have employed more commercial contractors in the past with wheeled forwarders. A number of years on and some of the rides are still fairly impassable due to the ruts they left. Yes, it is quite dry in the pictures but the ground conditions vary along the ride and even on the wet and muddy bits you can hardly tell the machine has passed that way 8 times already! LPG Eddie - interested in your comments re undercarriage. What should we look out for?? Its handy having the dumper as when we get to the spot where the TW20 and trailer can get in we just tip the load off the back. Lands in a neat enough pile to be picked up with the Vreten crane. Mark - Ian doesn't like to broadcast what he's got! Even had a crazy idea of producing them as more capable than an Alstor or Forcat and will carry more, just not as easy to transport around. More pics to come.
  9. Well, after a few months in the workshop ..... here it is!!! Our purpose built forwarder - a Marooka MST 700 with 2 foot wide tracks and a Patou crane. Over the last few years my friend and I would be chasing timber only to be told, "It's yours when we can get it out, the grounds too wet." And then we were offered some felling work locally where all the extraction routes were wet. So super dumper number two was born.
  10. £11.99 plus postage Jon so about £17 I think. Well worth it mate. Could probably put cizzer in it too!!
  11. Coleman 3.7L Jug - Tents by Accessories Bought one of these a few weeks back as started some felling work so important to keep hydrated. You can either put ice inside or an ice brick that you put in the freezer overnight. You have to screw the lid on really tight so it does not leak. Does an excellent job of keeping the water cold and it is very welcome among our crew. Certainly a best buy!!! Have also tried putting a bottle of water in the freezer overnight but then you are just waiting for it to melt.
  12. Unimog | eBay Might be of use to someone
  13. I think this looks absolutely superb!! Danish Fuel Jerry Cans
  14. I have used Redex in the past and found no improvement in mpg. Came across an advert in a magazine for Clean Drive and thought I would give it a go. You wait until you have a quarter tank left, drive for 6 miles to warm things up, put the whole contents of the tin in,drive for another ten miles then fill up. It claims to clean the engine, the diesel particulate filter, sensors and improve mpg. Previously I used to average 330 miles to the tank in my 2007 Ford Ranger diesel. Following adding a tin of clean drive, I am now averaging 375 miles. The treatment lasts three months so I reckon in that time I will be £70 better off. https://www.clean-drive.co.uk/
  15. Was at the Scottish Game Fair yesterday and passed the tanker coming in to empty the toilets. Their web address is www. wemovesh.it!!
  16. Ah, now you're just showing off!!:001_smile:
  17. Another first for me today - leading in fresh baled hay. Me on the 4610 and my mates son on the Major.
  18. Try Commercial Vehicle Direct Contact Us CVD Insurance I've just switched from Direct Line and saved £200!!
  19. Spotted by niece in Preston station this evening.
  20. A mortgage broker gets paid by the mortgage provider for putting the business their way, they don't charge who they get the mortgage from. If the mortgage broker charges you for their services they are on a win win as they will get a large payment from the mortgage provider as well. This is why I think the term "independent" mortgage advisor should be taken with a pinch of salt as they will always tend to go with the company they get the best kick back from. So yes, it would be interesting to go through more than one advisor and compare who they suggest for the mortgage as if they are both looking after your best interests and finding the best deal for you, they should recommend the same company.
  21. Speak to Kenny at FMS in Wark, Northumberland - bought a Vreten with crane off him 18 months ago. I'm sure he would do just the trailer and they have round bolsters. We were in a similar position - could not find second hand one and if you did it was absolutely scrap!
  22. Hi Jon, its an International 475 so yes it has the Perkins engine
  23. As an ex mortgage advisor with a high street bank, Steve has hit most of the problems we had with self employed people on the head. You cannot have it both ways. I used to deal with a lot of taxi drivers and takeaway/restaurant owners who obviously take a lot of their sales in cash. Do they bank it all?? No way. The bare minimum to pay as little tax as possible. They then wonder when their accounts show £7k net profit pa why you will only give them a £28k mortgage. I remember asking a customer for his accounts and he replied "Which set do you want?" They had actual accounts based on their actual turnover and then a different set for the tax man. I'm not saying tree surgeons fall in to the above examples (never saw a tree surgeon in 7 years of doing mortgages actually) but if you are doing everything to keep the tax down it will effect your mortgage chances as your net profit will be low.
