  2. Simca Marmon 4x4 utility truck - non running | eBay You could start again!!
  3. I have had a Stubai one for over three years (looks like the Oregon above) and think its one of the best things I've bought. Amazed at what it will move.
  4. http://www.forestryjournal.co.uk/newsitefiles/2011/0811/TCsAug11.pdf You may find the above useful as it covers all those available. we settled on a Vreten and have been very pleased with it, excellent crane.
  5. My mates wife has a Rover 214 with 230,000 miles on. Its on its original clutch! Just bought a three year old Fiesta to replace it as wiring is playing up.
  6. Whilst the video is very impressive, the product does not look so good. A lot of the "logs" look very thin, surprising for America as they usually like big ole chunky things!
  7. Just as a follow on to this, I was talking to a mechanic on Monday and mentioned the diaphragm had split. "The old Mondeo problem," he replied! If the primer is on top of the fuel filter housing as it is on the Ranger and Mondeo he recommends you take off one of the fuel pipes when priming otherwise so much effort is required to pump the primer that the diaphragm splits inside!
  8. Unless you manage to get a demo model, the waiting list for Rangers is over a year apparently.
  9. I would have a look at the Bilke as well, larger diameter and cheaper I think.
  10. Jacksons at Morpeth have four nice ones sitting outside
  11. There's one of these for sale in the tender - might be useful with the floods occuring these days! Clayton Engineering - Talus MB-764
  12. When I see a chiper on the front I always wonder do the insurance company know what it looks like and how far they stick out???? If they don't like bull bars they would have a fit if they saw a chipper!!!!
  13. Had the truck taken to Jennings Ford dealership this morning and they rang this afternoon to say the fuel filter housing itself is faulty. There is a diaphragm inside it and they reckon that it is damaged and sucking in air. They apparently have bypassed it and taken it out for a test and it ran fine. Undid the bypass, went out and engine shut down after a short distance. £225 plus vat, got him down to £202 plus vat - that includes parts and labour. Should be ready tomorrow as they had to order the part in. Fingers crossed.
  14.

  15. Really???? Only changed fuel filter in late September with a genuine Ford item.
  16. People must be buying cord a lot cheaper than we are in the north east! I bought stock in at £49 a ton delivered (plus vat - I'll discount this as I'm vat registered {volunteered, not through turnover!!!} ) and always work on 1.5 cube to a ton. Therefore, 49 divided by 1.5 equals £32.67 per cube. I sell a load for £80.95 (plus vat = £85) so the timber cost is 40%. I am having serious doubts about continuing this year for two reasons - lack of hardwood available and the price it is - managed to get one load in but it is £55 per ton roadside plus vat plus haulage and this is the way it appears to be going.
  17. There was a programme on last week about Artic convoy PQ17 which lost 24 out of its 35 merchant vessels. I mentioned it to someone I know and his father in law was on that convoy and his ship was sunk. He and the captain were the last ones off and when they were hauling themselves in to the life boat, one of the stokers (dressed only in shorts, vest and neckerchief!!) took his neckerchief off and said, "Hang on captain, seats a bit wet, let me dry it for you!!" Humour in the face of adversity. Unfortunately, I think Jeremy Clarkson was the wrong person to present the documentary. I too am very interested in WW2, especially personal experiences and would recommend the Steven Ambrose books and "Flags of Our Fathers".
  18. Went out to see a job this morning in my 2007 Ford Ranger and on way back, the motor coughed, revs dropped off then everything cut out. Luckily it was a quiet road. Pulled up, checked hand book as engine warning light was on and it said would drive with reduced power. Limped home during which time it cut out twice. Rang my recovery service and error code P0093 Fuel Leak, Large Fuel Leak came up on diagnostic machine. Cannot see fuel anywhere. Anybody had this problem and what was the cure??
  19. Oh, info table didn't work out as planned but you should get the picture!!
  20. It would be worth having a look at January edition of "4x4" magazine as it features their pick up of the year test. They covered the Isuzu D-Max, VW Amarok, Toyota Hi-Lux, Mitsubishi L200, Nissan Navarra, Great Wall Steed and SsangYong Korando Sports. Notice anything missing????? The Ford Ranger won their 2013 test but has been left out this year as they reckon if you placed an order for one now, you would be lucky to receive it within 52 weeks!! Here's some key figures at a glance: Make Towing Engine Torque Economy Basic Price (ex VAT) Isuzu 3500 400Nm 33.6 £22974 VW 3200 420Nm 35.3 £24225 HiLux 2800 343Nm 36.7 £21169 L200 2700 350Nm 32.1 £23249 Navara 2600 450Nm 33.6 £22221 Great Wall 2500 305Nm 34 £13998 I would certainly try and get to drive a Ranger though, ex demos seem to be available.
  21. Glad she's okay; looks like Jeep 1 Skoda 0! Recent letter in paper hi-lighted the insurance racket. Lady had a call from insurance company regarding an accident she had had earlier in the year and she was told she may as well claim as the other party had. She was rather puzzled how the other party had claimed as it was a badger and it was dead!!!
  22. I would seriously doubt the figure of £160; going rate for dry, G30 spec woodchip is about £35 a cubic metre.
