  1. Hello All, Here at Austin Purdeys Tree Care we are currently looking for a full time, self-employed climber to start with us as soon as possible. We are a small family run business who work solely with high-end domestic clients and we run a tight 3 man crew, with 1x work experience college student once per week. We are based in Shawell, a small village that boarders Rugby town & Lutterworth Town. The climber will ideally have the following: *Good understanding of tree identification. *The ability to carry out big work as well as small jobs (Large take downs alongside small pruning & shaping / Hedge trimming) *The want to work in a domestic environment. *Some form of transport in order to reach us as there is no bus service to the village. *7.5 Tonne license is very handy as our vehicle is a 7.5 tonne lorry. The work that we do here at Austin Purdeys is highly varied so we need somebody who is happy working on different trees each day. The right person will be asked to start immediately (as soon as tomorrow) so please only contact if you are available. Salary will be very competitive with other self-employed climbers in the area and you will also be paid weekly, however the exact details will be discussed upon meeting the individual. Thank you for reading my advert and I look forward to hearing from you soon. E-mail: [email protected] Phone: 01788 860090
  2. We rent a farm yard and have made a makeshift woodchip car park for the staff to park their cars on. However over the last week it has rained considerably and where the puddles gather near to the woodchip you can different coloured water coming from where the woodchip is dark & light browns etc... My question is what is this and is it dangerous to the environment that surrounds it? My landlord farmer seems to think it will kill a row of established 40ft conifers if it gets near them. I think it is possibly something to do with the natural properties of the wood and sucroses or something to do with the lignin.? Any advice would be appreciated as i'd like to go back to him with a rock solid factual answer....

  5. My darling staff having chipped onto my stump grinder. Hence why they don't work for me anymore.
  6. I've gone down the road of "what can I do to maximise business with the tools and facilities I've got" with the intention to re-invest to then grow or add another feature. Christmas tree illuminations for village or parish councils is popular yet seasonal and pet rescue is also a feature as well as registering with the local 4x4 emergency rescue team as arborists seems to have all the winching wires and 4x4s. My best idea was putting 4x4 tyres on a transit. Raises them by 2" and with the twin wheels at the rear you never get stuck I can climb half way up a wood chip mound lol. £500 for all 6 made by Kuhmo in their Mud-Terrain pattern. The reason for this was getting a transit stuck on a verge in a town miles away and getting that 4.30 phone call from your team leader saying he's stuck can I go help them... Oh and then it's rush hour... Got to bulletproof everything that can go wrong.
  7. I was thinking of starting to store and sell it myself but it is an investment and not a quick turn around and with little businesses I've found cash flow to be the lifeblood of the company.
  8. That's some great advice... I sell it by the trailer load in non-processor sizes (domestic trees) my trailer is a twin axle ifor Williams and has a caged area of 5 cubic meters so it will have air gaps but we hand load and stack so it's as tight as it can get. What would that be worth to the trade then and if it was softwood how would that convert in cost?
  9. Yes I was selling everything I chopped down. I've got 3 large ash trees coming down next week in Daventry so I'm glad you've helped me. Always have had plenty of timber my problem was never knowing its value and to who. Another question is if your selling to a small time one man band businesses does this £40 a cubic meter still stand or is that too dear?
  10. Is this all as fresh green cord? If so I've been selling timber far to cheaply I've been doing £20 cubic meter un seasoned and in lengths..
  11. Experienced groundsman wanted must have CS38 and relevant other tickets for chainsaw and chipper use etc... Immediate start available. £375 a week. Rugby/Daventry Area.
  12. What seems to be a fair or standard industry price for unsplit/unseasoned timber by the meter? Effectively straight off the tree into a trailer and then sold to someone who processes, stores and sells seasoned logs... Just curious as the price of seasoned wood by the cube seems to be going up but the initial purchase cost seems to have stayed the same. Any sound advice would be appreciated......
  13. Hi chaps. Just a quickie. Where is best to get hold of arctic loads of already processed timber delivered to Warwickshire/Northamptonshire boarder? Any help would be massively appreciated.
