  1. I have a forwarding trailer and am keen to improve its security measures. I had a conversation with my present insurers (have liability cover with them) and they stated underwriters would insist its locked away each night in a secure shed with monitored alarm system. Or it could be " immobilised by the application and setting of a recognised physical security restraining leglock". The only leg lock I've found is for very small car trailers, not a ten ton forestry trailer. Does anyone use one on a forwarding trailer? I have found these which would lock the towing eye. Trailer Locks for construction and agricultural machinery What do you use for large trailers??
  2. The one Steve had Jon was the one we had first!!
  3. HITACHI ZX70 Amphibious EXCAVTOR, DIGGER, LONG REACH, DUMPER, | eBay And the same guy has this for sale as well!!
  4. MOROOKA MST650VDL FORWARDER, HI-AB 3000 EXTENDING CRANE, DUMPER, TRACKED | eBay Thought of you soon as I saw this Steve!! Looks like they've moved the cab forward for a longer load bed. The crane with seat would be interesting in the trees!!
  5. Isn't there one in latest Forestry Journal or Essential ARB?? Think they have removed the rear body and had flat bed put on. Apparently the cab is good size for all the crew and gear.
  6. Hi Jon. My uncle had a friend who had always had Range Rovers, replaced them every two years with a new one. A year or so ago, his latest was in for a service at LR and the only courtesy car they had available was a VW Toureg so he took that. The garage rang and said a number of faults needed sorting which were not covered by warranty. His reply - keep the damn thing, I'm sick off them!! I'm buying this VW, it's great!!!
  7. Mate of mine was told by his friend who runs a non franchised Land Rover garage, average repair bill is £1000 as the body has to come off for items like alternator to be replaced!!
  8. http://www.exmod.co.uk/wheels.html Interesting - Perenties for sale in UK
  9. Just as an aside and apologies to op, why would you ring bark and leave the trees standing 20 years??
  10. I have had £4k in Premium Bonds for a while and get about 4 or 5 cheques for £25 each year. Not a great return but I see it as an alternative to the lottery (cannot remember last time I won a tenner) with the benefit that you still have your capital. Or if you have a mortgage it may be beneficial switching to an offset mortgage - you wouldn't receive interest but instead you save interest on your mortgage.
  11. AS it looks like a squashed Evoque, probably the new Defender!!
  12. When ever I read posts like this I think of a web site I saw where they claimed they could process 15 cubic metres per hour - 105 cubic metres in a 7 hour day. If they are that good, why bother spending thousands on a machine - just hire them in for a few days!! They would certainly get my stock done for the year in a few days!! Don't be encouraged by people saying you can pick up a cheap tractor to run it either. After much searching and looking at restoration jobs for £1500 plus just to get them running I eventually found a rough but running International for £1350. There are not as many about as people think, or if there are they are at the other end of the country! I have a Palax KS35 Ergo and on the whole have been happy with it although not as quick as they are made out to be. A few people I spoke to were claiming production figures way over what I was achieving but when queried they revealed they had removed most of the safety guards and sensors!!! Not recommended. If you get a lot of sub 14 inch diameter timber straight as a die a processor would be of benefit. If mainly bigger stuff, might be better off with chainsaw and a substantial log splitter. For your budget I would say you are looking at second hand equipment in which case I would be tempted to buy from a dealer. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  13. You could try ringing Peter Stenner of Woodfuel Barn Steph. I know he used some covers last year he got from the states I think.
