  1. I'm pleased you didn't chip it as it will be usuable to someone.
  2. Wall paper scraper usually does a good job, nice and flat and a lot wider than a screwdriver so should be more effective.
  3. I love the idea of doing air dried ham, etc but think it is best cut really thin, like on a meat slicer. When I've bought lumps of parma ham I can never get it thin thin and I dont think its the same when its thicker. I keep looking at meat slicers in auctions but haven't got space for one!
  4. Very nice Mick, love super cabs.
  5. Well to get back on track, I was at the Land Rover show at Billing a good number of years ago and on the Saturday it had been a glorious hot, sunny day. About 5 o'clock there was a big wooosh from the trade stands area and when we looked there were flames well above the big trees that bordered the trade area, and these were a good 50 foot tall. Apparently, one of the traders had opened the jerry can beside a generator that had been running all day. The can had been in the sun and when he opened it, the petrol gushed out on to the hot generator sending flames skyward and seriously injuring the operator. Unfortunately, he later died of his wounds.
  6. Yes, tractor club is way to go. My friend bought a TW20 a few years ago that had been imported from Holland and used on a farm for a particular job and never registered. Ford Owners Club sorted it all out very efficiently. Funnily enough, Classic Tractor magazine has just listed sales figures for 2015 plus "new" used registrations,ie. tractors registered for the first time. 145 Fords were reg for first time in 2015 as well as 44 David Browns!
  7. If you are asking about the Hypro 300 they are £25k
  8. Hypro has a small computer which you calibrate to length you wish to cut. However, a few things we have discovered is you have to stop it manually at the desired length as it appears on the display. Also if the the wheels are gripping the tree as it goes through and for any reason the tree sticks, the bottom wheel inset in the bed of the machine can keep on turning and this is the measuring wheel so it can clock up distance even though the tree itself is not moving. Teething problems I think they're called!!
  9. The 300 is £25k, the 450 which has a crane is closer to £50k and I'm not sure on the 700.
  10. Abenteuer & Allrad 2016 The World?s biggest Off-Road Show | Expedition Portal
  11. It was way up in the air when I first saw it but unfortunately by the time I got closer, it was back down!
  12. A good show in very nice surroundings.
  13. Attended the Tractor Fest show at Newby Hall near Ripon today and the Unimog club were in attendance.

  15. Bigger ones are 12 to 16 inches in diameter, all softwood pine. I know what you're saying Woodworks - my ten ton Vreten loaded to the gunnels with hardwood in 2 bays of 3m lengths only has 7 ton of timber on it. We are guessing 4 to 5 ton as we had timber stacked roadside in two and a bit piles which we estimated would be 25 ton. When the wagon came and loaded up 25 ton, there was still a complete stack he hadn't touched!
  16. Should have said, they are fresh felled and 3m in length. I hope you are miles out Woodworks - we reckoned some of the larger pieces were nearly half a ton so I would have thought 4 to 5 ton on there.
  17. So for everybody who thinks you can get 3 ton on an atv forwarding trailer, how much do you reckon is on here???
  18. My friend has recently bought this Hurlimann XT908. He has always been a Ford man but prices for 7810s and 7840s just seem to be going up and up. He bought it with the loader on and then a few days later saw the weight block on ebay. As it was only 30 miles away he bought it only to discover when he picked it up, that it had been sitting on the front of his tractor until four weeks ago when the guy selling it took it off to sell it with the loader on. (Loader is probably for sale if anyone is interested.) It seems a nice tractor, 6600 hours on it, needs a few jobs doing like a new wing, new front tyres but it has been pulling the loaded log trailer okay and now has the Hypro mounted on the back.
  19. You couldn't get more roadside than that Ross!!!
  20. Like that a lot!! The Aussie army have some funky G_Wagens.
  21. Thank you peeps, appreciate the ID.
  22. Got a client who has a border full of this weed. It resembles been sprouts. Does anybody know what it is and best way to get rid if it??
  23. If it's anything like the auctions I watch on Bidspotter, they will go for next to retail price!!
  24. Anybody come across MS250 and MS381 chainsaws? Cannot see them in the 2016 catalogue so are they old models?
  25. I did this about 18 months ago Tom. I had amassed about 25 ton of timber all 14 inch diameter and above (my Palax takes max 14) and hired in my closest competitor to split it for me. Only down side was he has a Binderberger with a large grid so most of the logs ended up too wide for my customers so I ended up resplitting them on my machine. But it did turn a pile of timber in to usable logs and that = cash!!
