  1. Depends on your budget Brett. Ford Ranger or VW Amarok usually come out tops in comparisons in the press. Search D-Max on here as a few have had problems with new ones. My 07 Ranger has been great. Do you need a double cab?? Don't rule out a super cab if you dont need to carry rear seat passengers.
  2. And watch how they want it delivered as well. The advisors seems to forget the space needed to get a wagon and skip in.
  3. Income protection is something a lot of people over look, and yet they cover their property, contents, car, holiday, etc etc but not the one thing that provides them with the money that allows them to buy these items - themselves. As for policies not paying out, be honest when you contact a company and fill out any proposal or application forms. Tell them what they want to know, mention anything you think may be relevant. A lot of people say they would not have the same expenses if they were off long term. They're right - expenses tend to increase if you are off long term as you are in the house more so utility bills tend to increase. And don't forget travel to doctors/hospital appointments and car park fees. And if you had savings, would you want to use them for this purpose and how long would they last?? Everybody's circumstances and priorities are different and I think income protection is something we all need to consider.
  4. According to google, 40 gallons equates to 181 litres. I just bought 20 litres of oil from Gustharts for £35 plus vat. (It's marked as Stein brand). So 9 containers would cost you £315 plus vat = £378.
  5. I know a lot of people like the Fiskars - seems cheap at MTS Fiskars XXL-X27 Splitting Axe with Fibreglass Handle 2.6kg (5.7lb)

  7. Thought had posted this this morning but seems to have disappeared! Came across this site in relation to work I do for commercial fishermen about knots. Animated Knots by Grog | How to Tie Knots | Fishing, Boating, Climbing, Scouting, Search and Rescue, Household, Decorative, Rope Care,
  8. Saw you around last week when I was delivering logs. Tip site available at Consett if you ever need it.
  9. Could try Scottish Woodlands - give Michael Hall a ring 07768612587 and tell him Derek from County Woodfuel Supplies give you the number.
  10. Another case of rip off Britain John. I delivered logs to a customer who had project managed the refurbishment of a number of properties and bought 7 wood burners from a supplier. He negotiated a deal where he saved just over 50% per stove. Therefore the seller was selling them at less than 50% normal retail price and was still happy he was making a profit!
  11. I have been a life long LR fan, owned 2 series motors, 4 90s and a Freelander and loved all of them to bits BUT LR never moved with the times. I have seen Defenders with rusty cross members less than a year old - and they charge how much for that!! If Audi can galvanise chassis I don't see why LR cannot. Engines have always been a bit under powered and on the small size. And lets face it, LR have not been interested in offering a work vehicle for some time; once RR,RR Sport and Freelander took off that was the death knoll for the Defender. I agree with previous comments that when D3 came out, it should have had a lengthened chassis to make a double cab or single cab pick up. That would have been suitable competition for the Japanese. They weren't even bothered about loosing the MoD contract because they had already sold them millions of pounds worth of spares. So yes, it is sad production has stopped but lets wake up and smell the coffee - it wasnt a mythical being, it had its faults and poor build quality, small engines, greatly overpriced were but a few. And yes, if i won the lottery i would have a collection of them in my shed!!
  12. Don't know what it is called but they are based at the Louisa Centre in Stanley.

    Stonefield

Didn't somebody want one of these a while ago??? Stonefield P3000 4x4 Project Recovery Truck in need of some restoration. | eBay
  14. He was probably up there on Saturday as there was a lad moving the sheep off the land before we started.
  15. It was Davy Shield Mark. Beautiful terrain but very wet underfoot and probably very bleak at times!!
  16. I had to buy some .303 and it was £15 for 20 rounds! I think the surplus 7.62 for the Moisin Nagant was cheaper and my mate loads his own .38 and .357. Whilst part of me would like to get FAC and get an underlever and something like a Lee Enfield I can see how it could get expensive!!!! But it is great fun! Unfortunately, the video I tried to attach would not load.
  17. I've owned and used shotguns for nearly 30 years but had my first taste of full bore rifle shooting on Saturday. A friend of mine decided to get his FAC and if he does something, he does it 200% so within a year he has bought a Henry Big Boy 38/357, Anshultz .22, Steyr AUG .223mm and a Moisin Nagant!!! He took me as a guest yesterday to his club day at Otterburn ranges and I had a fantastic time!! Woohoo, we went through some rounds. I was really pleased I was hitting targets at 300 and 400 yards with iron sites on the Moisin and a Lee Enfield .303. The Moisin was a fire breathing beast!!! The Henry, absolutely beautiful and lovely to shoot. Day ended with the army dropping parachute flares over the range we were shooting on!!
  18. I have relatives on Vancouver Island and have been a couple of times. Vancouver is a lovely city, clean and easy to get about. We have travelled to Whistler and Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley and it is a beautiful place. Plus its Canadian so every where is really clean and tidy and the people are really friendly!!
  19. Up to 300 TDi the bonnets were stronger and were braced differently on the underneath so could take the weight. It is my understanding TD5 onwards the bonnets are of a lighter construction and can fracture under the weight. I used to have one on my normally aspirated 90 and only put the spare on the bonnet as a last resort - does obscure vision and makes it extremely heavy to lift and dangerous if bonnet were to fall on you when you are under it!! Can you not put a small roof rack on the truck cab and use it for the spare and other equipment?
  20. Winning bidder is a very generous Daythe trees at £30 - thank you very much. You need to pay the money as a donation directly through the Children's Trust website and PM Steve Bulman your name and address so he can have the item sent direct to you. Many thanks once again.
  21. Anymore more offers guys???? I will give it until 9.30pm tonight.
  22. Congratulations to Steve for another great result for the Children's Trust. I had the good fortune to win a prize, a Sawpod. However, as I won one in the raffle a few years ago and operate a firewood business so have no use for one, I would like to auction this with the proceeds going to the Childrens Trust. So, who will start me off???
  23. Thanks Steve and all the crew who assist with the raffle every year. Steve, I have won a Sawpod - strangely enough I won one a few years back as well and as I run a firewood business I never use one so could I ask that you draw another ticket in the hope that someone who would find it beneficial might win it?
  24. Hi Jon, if you had the 6x4 you could put the caravan on the back!
