  1. Pleased to hear it. I went to an auction last week through bidspotter and on the bidding day a lot of the items I was after went for more than retail!
  2. Might be of interest to someone English Hardwoods & Other Timber, Woodturning Blanks, Woodworking Machinery & Other Equipment from W&H Peacock Auctioneers & Valuers
  3. No not yet as most of the auctions are some distance from me. I think you have to register with BidSpotter and then with the individual auction company. Fees can wrack up - vat 20% plus buyers premium of up to 15% plus vat 20% on buyers premium!! But there is a heck of a lot of good stuff out there and its addictive looking!!!
  4. 7 Assorted Cars plus the total assets from a Trailer Manufacturer including 10 Mini Digger Trailers, General Plant Trailers and Trailer Parts from Robson Kay Associates Ltd
  5. I would just contact any of the dealers selling new processors as they all take older ones as trade ins.
  6. Very interesting figures WoodWasp. A friend has a grant approved for a Hypro 300 and has to decide asap whether to go for it. We are working on one estate at present where it could be used and have had enquiries from a few others, all local. Can I ask how you came to those figures please?
  7. Having worked for a high street bank for 23 years up until 6 years ago, if the bank finds out you are running a business through a personal account they could ask you to stop and if they wanted to, if you persisted, they could close your personal account as running a business through a personal account is in breech of the terms and conditions for a personal account.
  8. Think the cable didn't go on the drum properly and got snagged.
  9. I know!! I think she was feeling a little stressed as the winch was playing up just as we arrived.

    new lorry.

Fin, my mate has a 6 wheel DAF that he will be putting up for sale soon. It is a hook loader and he has various skips that are available seperately.
  11. At a forestry demo last week, a FC officer asked the girl doing the winching demo if they had ever used kinetic energy rope to which she replied no. I tried explaining to him that you would never use KERR in a winch as it is designed to use the elasticity in the rope to extract stricken vehicles and was actually designed for the military to extract stuck armoured vehicles. He was very indignant and said he had actually seen it used on Land Rovers and was great as it didn't whip around if it snapped. I tried explaining he meant Dynema plasma rope as KERR would do exactly that but no, he was adamant it was KERR!! The though of actually having a KERR winch rope attached to a tree, dragging it up slope and then the tree snagging on a stump is rather frightening as the rope would just keep stretching until it had enough energy to overcome the obstacle and the tree would be hurled through the air at great speed!!!! Doesn't bear thinking about!!!! But he was FC so obviously knows best!!
  12. The guy with the Vimek charged £350 per day as well. Reckoned if it was straight softwood he could move 70 ton a day (that would be about 35 loads!) or about 50 ton for hardwoods.
  13. You should be well chuffed with that Steve. I dream of being able to make stuff like that on a wet day in the shed! :beerchug:
  14. Yes, the working demo was less than enthralling - watching a £60k Vimek load and then unload a ton and a half of timber; a £250k harvester fell a few trees; a Valtra/Hypro combo probably best part of £120k process a few trees; and a Valtra with Igglund pull a tree. It was a poor demo of the Hypro in particular and the lad who owned it had travelled up from Essex! I'm not sure how the even was advertised Gray but we were informed about it as we had expressed an interest in the grants available.
  15. Not sure Kevin. It had lights and indicator units on it and was badged as a Caron.
  16. Well done Aspenarb, actions like this demonstrate there are still good guys out there.
  17. Attended a demonstration of small scale forestry equipment on Thursday on the Barningham Estate near Richmond. The event was run by the Forestry Commission and had a number of dealers exhibiting as well as working demos. Whilst a lot of the machines are quite impressive, the cost is eye watering. The Vimek was £60k - for a machine that has a 22hp Kubota engine and will carry at best 3 ton. I know the answer is they don't sell as many as Ford sell Fiestas and they have to get their R&D costs back but prices are staggering.
  18. I think you will find price varies from region to region. I bought stock in October, largely birch and ash and paid £50 per ton delivered plus vat. As with anything though, ask what you want and then you can always come down in price/negotiate.
  19. A guy I know who is a builder (and also a bouncer so you can guess what he looks like!!) lives close to Newcastle city centre and returned home one Saturday afternoon to find a BMW on his drive. He parked across the bottom of the drive and went in to ask his wife who the car belonged to. She thought it was one of his mates. A few hours later there was a knock at the door and a guy standing there asking if he knew who the car belonged to that was across the bottom of the drive. Geordie replied he didn't and thought it could be someone who had gone to the match in town. "That's where I've been" said the stranger "but I can't get my car off your drive now!". Apparently he came back every day for a week to try and get his car back before Geordie explained it was his car blocking him in and if he ever parked on his drive again he would punch his bleeding lights out!!
  20. Really enjoyable programme. I don't think the ex barrister will be delivering his meat in the back of the trooper for much longer though if any health and safety or food standards people were watching it!!
  21. Costco have a big black plastic box with a yellow lid Steve, called the professional storage box I think. Cannot remember price but was cheap.
  22. And yet Mark, they would still the same as you here elsewhere, "There's no money in motors, we hardly make anything as it!" Sick of hearing this. Bought a new saw few weeks back and one supply when I asked if he could do it cheaper started moaning, "There's next to nothing in it and then by the time it's been pdi, full tank of oil and fuel and then the girls have done the paperwork, there's nothing left!" So it's not just yourself that's been talking bollocks since 19xx Mark!!!
  23. Had my Beretta 303 for about 25 years at least, would never part with it despite being offered good money in the past. Only ever had 3 jams in all that time so I like to wind people up on facebook pages who are always asking why they're Escorts jam - simple answer, because it's an Escort!! I shot once with a lad who had one and it jammed more times shooting 10 clays them my 303 has in its lifetime! Just started rifle shooting as well, mainly .22 on an indoor range but going to outdoor range on Saturday for full bore fun so looking forward to that!
