  1. Just after some advice on what to go for. looking to get a pto winch for the back of the tractor for the odd big fells or leaners etc. Dont want something too fancy or costly as wont get used a lot but good to have in the inventory. we have a 100hp 4 wd tractor weighs maybe 5-5.5t any advice please as to what size / power to go for. many thanks chris
  2. I wouldnt be a tight arse.... Im not mard and change stuff all the time but moneys been had from that I'd say. Get a new one bought its against tax... Cant put a price on your safety
  3. How about weld 3 spots of weld on the underside of the washer that comes into contact with the chute..... these blobs will help keep pressure / hold down the chute?
  4. Some chippers have used holes and pins in the past to keep locked in one position. How old is the chipper? Mines 2 yrs old and I like you remove the chute daily but never have this problem
  5. Well done on finding a well kept and decent looking tractor local! Hope it all goes well for you.
  6. Went out and bought the kellfri log grab. Will be using it in anger week before xmas see how I get on but looks a sturdy thing!
  7. This is what I use as a re chargeable... also has 2 decent magnets on the back. used iit on back of truck for unloading logs and reversing when necessary https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RING-AUTOMOTIVE-Professional-Hands-Free-28-x-LED-Rechargeable-Inspection-Lamp/232527170070?epid=2076484654&hash=item3623b30a16:g:WlQAAOSwLJ9Z5kzs
  8. Not this one but same thing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20W-Portable-Ultra-Thin-LED-Hi-Power-Work-Light-Lamp-Rechargeable-Flood-Light/173552912285?hash=item28688f479d:g:D50AAOSwgKRbq~9r:rk:7:pf:0
  9. Have done this yes..... Also you can get some decent work lamps that are re chargeable and led on small stand that can sit in trailer I had to use amber warning lights on my old transit as reverse lights didnt work lol
  10. 2 Big ones up there, Ones huge! Amazing tree's
  11. The first Sequoia introduced in 1853 be the one at Cluney Gardens, Aberfeldy?
  12. ? just worn my 2.1 out.... bought another! Didnt really look at the 3 just heard bulky etc
  13. Looks good to me! Did you get off man from Durham?
  14. Which make or item do you use? Any pics? Many thanks
  15. Anyone use one or something similar? Cheers
  16. Didnt have to remove mine.... Just remove the end cap on the roller box.... then green bush is revealed then you can see the shear bolts
  17. Right, sounds better! what year is yours? Mines just about 2 yr old so back end 2016 with the silly bullet heads. Probs better to just change to an allen key head that the head fits into the green bush. (For me) Cheers funnily enough it was my lower roller too
  18. Them shear bolts are a pain in the arse! Mine came loose not so long since and caused roller to move a good 10-15mm in and out! Rang tw dealer up to explain movement in the roller to be told hmmmmm not sure that will be covered under warranty ( their favourite saying) so thought sod that I'll look myself. Anyhow the shear bolts had come undone and really loose. Stupid design as the heads are like a rounded bullet shape and nothing to grab. Screwed back tight in best we could and cracked on. If happens again which I have no doubt it will. I will cut a flat groove in the "bullet head" as i call it so I can use a flat head screw driver to really tighten the buggers up!
  19. Does anyone use anything like this on site with a front loader for both logs and brash? http://www.ryetec.net/product.php?id_product=75 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kellfri-Log-bucket-grapple-grab-for-loader-shovel-telehandler-tractor-950-Vat/122246238886?hash=item1c767192a6:g:yuoAAOSwY3tbOUuv:rk:4:pf:0 How do you get on with them? are they ok for both? Cheers
  20. whas Doesnt seem too bad for a small crane etc
  21. I could take as much as poss with a timber trailer then the rest of the crap / off cuts can go in the tipping trailer. Nowadays I keep some for processor, and rest goes for biomass. Was wondering if I could earn some money from bringing back in 2.5m lengths and sell out a wagon load once i've accrued it
  22. Yes... I'd rather be safe and know my load etc.... Also it needs to look right and be road worthy. Any big lumps could be bossed on with the front loader anyhow? I think the 8t trailer would more suit me.... I do consider getting a bigger hp tractor at times but then how far do you go? I think smaller is better at times. My farmer mate keeps getting bigger and bigger heavier tractors. Sometimes they struggle to get in places. Rather have a nimble outfit than a canal barge
  23. Are they 4m lengths then? Would you ever put 2 bays of 2.5 on it? or is that over kill. I have also learnt through experience, its better to do multiple trips at a smaller amount than busting balls and trying to do less trips with more on!
  24. Cheers for that. This is to go behind a 399 with pavt wheels and a loader on tractor so tractor has a good base weight. DOnt want to be pulling its arse out either lol
  25. Its mainly arb and agg work Matty, Would like something with as decent a lift as possible.... prefer the size of an 8t trailer to be fair as saw Gray Gits old 11t botex and it seemd huge.... maybe thats just me? Maybe the 4-5' dia stems i'd just have to do in 2-3' rings to load? would usually cut as big as i can lift with the loader for them. Also would want as much lift / reach / power as possible for removing standing stems (to a point) Jasp had a nice farmi trailer on but thats gone.... All the others are botex 560 and above but start 12500 plus vat and above.... then the odd occasional older one comes in at 10 plus vat... Theres a nice botex 8t with 360 on ebay but sceptical about that as its been on before.... maybe it didnt sell? maybe its a scam! Either way would need it to be man enough
