    Crap day

Managed to dump the ute into a ditch the first day it snowed in Northamptonshire!! Only doing about twenty five mph and the chipper sort of pulled at the rear of the ute (sideways slipping on the ice) and the rest of the van obliged and we gently slid sideways into the ditch. Chipper hit one side of the van and then skidded round and hit the other side!! Damage under the rear of one of the lights pulled one tyre off the rim and damaged the box that has the battery in it on the chipper!! We had very little damage so i would say although you might think it was a bad day i got out unscathed and that was good enough for me. £20 to get out of ditch £14 to put tyre back on rim and put back on van and good friend fixed the box for free. Went home after that while i was still alive:lol:
  3. I am really glad someone started this as i was going to start a thread about this myself. I agree that everyone should have an education as has been said before up to the age of 18. Anything after that i see no reason why whomever wants any further schooling should have to pay for it. Firstly it would put people off that were there to just get drunk and have sex (which is good but not at everyone elses expense) and do a mickey mouse course and secondly make people serious about what they want to do. A good friend of mine went to uni had a gap year and basically messed around for a few years and now he cuts grass for the local council!! Value for money i ask?? I know plenty of others that have passed out with honours and do nothing remotely connected with their degree. And as for those students that trashed anything they should immediately lose their uni place and face a prison sentence. Absolute disgrace to the people (us) that are funding their places and futures. Those that attacked the royals should have just been shot dead!! Seems a bit strong but you do not do anything like that. As far as i'm concerned it amounts to treason when you attack our Royal family. Anyway rant over peace brothers and sisters
  4. I felt robbed when i opened this:lol:
  5. Ha ha ha i loved the dog food diet one it made me laugh so much i was crying!! Best joke i've read for ages.
  6. I love the saying 'rain before seven fine after eleven'. Not always right but a good % of the time it is right. Those old wives knew what they were on about didn't they:lol:
  7. I found it a bit of a problem yesterday as i never made the site!! Managed to put the van into a ditch with the chipper staying on the road luckily enough. Was only doing about twenty five miles an hour so not too much damage done!! I'd say frost is ok but after yesterday snow and ice is a not much fun:thumbdown:
  8. Paddy met a bird in a pub last night and ended up taking her back to his place. After a few more drinks they started kissing and having a bit of foreplay on the sofa. She looked at him and said "lets take this thing upstairs". Paddy said "ok you grab one end and i'll take the other"!!
  9. We also stopped at 11. Least i can do for those that have given the ultimate sacrifice so that i can have the freedom that i do.
  10. I had a problem like this and it was the anti stress device (mine is on a 98 Entec)!! Would have been expensive to replace but have got a mate that knows about circuit boards and computers and he fixed it for me:thumbup:
  11. You only charge VAT if your business is VAT registered .
  12. I have to agree with what Dean says that why should people that don't work or work minimal hours to get full claims be able to have 'luxuries'? But i would just like to say that this thread seems to pigeon hole people (those that claim and those that don't) which isn't a fair take on things. My wife gets up at 4.30 four mornings a week to get to work at five and then finish at 7.15 so i can go to work and she also works two mornings a week whilst my youngest child is still at nursery. I work a full time job and then when i come home i get in my own ute and go out and do private jobs. My wife works all weekend every other weekend (i.e. sat 6 am -6.30pm and sun 8 - 4.15) I work every saturday and yes you've guessed it we claim for working tax credits as our wages aren't all that!! So i feel that lumping us in with people that don't do anything is more than a little unfair. All i will say is that to those that don't claim anything that it is very hounourable but never say never as you don't know what the future may hold and what help you may need. Pride comes before a fall. I don't mind looking after these children i have and working hard to do so, the same children that will be supporting the economy whilst all us lot are getting our pensions!!
  13. Fair comment but who is going to pay the Governments bills when you're old and decrepid? Those children that you're paying to support. Kind of swings and roundabouts. You pay now and they pay for you in the future!
  14. Not a lot. Most of it was about diseases that most in the industry are aware of already. Although have to say they interviewed a guy from Westonbirt arboretum so there was a nice back drop!! Just telling the public about diseases and the reasons why they're thriving. Worth a look mind you.
  15. You will find a plate inside the van somewhere (drivers side i think) and what you are looking for is the train weight which is somewhere in the region of 5 and a half tonnes i think. The amount you can load onto the back shouldn't be affected. We also run a transit and we have a crew cab and find that once we have all our kit on board we can only carry 750kg which if you ever weigh it in at that you will see isn't very much. Can get more in my lunch box:lol:.
  16. Got to say i agree whole heartedly with Mr Blairs post. They're out there probably pricing work whilst you're at home with your family. I found that i needed more money so started doing bits and pieces evenings and weekends and you'd be surprised how much money you can make and how satisfying it is to firstly get, then carry out and complete your own work. It would also help you to understand what your boss goes through pricing work, and not always getting it, also as stevie said maintaining all the kit and then awaiting payment whilst you have had to pay the money out to whomever has helped you!! Also then having to chase money as some people really don't want to pay sometimes.
  17. Good god. Another person not too impressed with the place. I went there about 5 years ago and do you know my whole opinion of the place was horrible arrogant people that don't really give two hoots about anyone else!! Needless to say i'm not going again:lol:. I presume after re-reading your quote that the people were ignorant and rude, not the kids:lol:
  18. How do you get on with your little splitter timtree? I have one exactly the same but the stub axle broke out of the tank and i had oil gushing everywhere, which is not ideal as you know at this time of year but apart from that i'm loving mine!! Being rebuilt on a chassis now but the same splitter still.
  19. I'd be inclined to agree that they do need bleeding although mine is an early one so much so it's an Entec still. My brother recently ran it out of diesel and to get her up and running again properly, although it did start and run, i had to bleed air out of the injectors and once that was done we were off and running again!!
  20. Exactly that. My van and my garage were broken into a couple of years back and the guy down the road also had his done over. After the police had been at my place i mentioned the fact that this guy wouldn't leave his garage open as there was too much kit in there as he was a mechanic and also he had two motorbikes in the garage. They left my house at about six in the morning after telling me that the chap would have to phone them himself. I went and woke my neighbour and he called them at just after six and they went to see him at just after two in the afternoon!! Service or what:thumbdown:. Problem is probably too much paperwork. I got a call a few weeks later saying the crime was going to be classified as an unsolved now and unless they got prints at some other time there's nothing else they can do:thumbdown:.
  21. I'd be inclined to add at least one in-line filter as well as change the fuel filter. One other thing i would ask is have you tried bleeding the system from the injectors as it may have been run out of diesel:thumbdown:!! Sounds silly i know and really obvious but sometimes when someone gives you a machine with a full tank it's not always obvious.
  22. Suppose you've got to keep it now, the steaks are just too high as the midget said at the barbeque:lol:
  23. I'd just say that although you should be watching out for each other we were always taught at college that you and not anyone else is primarily responsible for your own H&S. If, as has been said before, you're not happy doing something you should decline and give your boss the reasons. What can they do? If they do let you go or insist that you should continue then they're obviously not worth working for!!
  24. Have found out today that the fuel pump is also not working properly so that's got to be replaced too. I have a new strapline for the good folk at Land Rover, rather than the best 4x4xfar how about the most expensive 4x4xfar:lol:.
  25. My local agricultural suppliers let me have roundup 360 for about £53. How much do you lot have to pay for the real deal then? I now use Roundup 450 as a systemic and Pistol as a residual.
