  1. Yes I spent most of yesterday rebuilding the electric/auto hand brake on our 60 plate disco what a complete disaster come back lever and cable all is forgiven.
  2. The main things you need for running a business is common sense and luck. But saying that some of my logical common sense decisions have been a disaster and some of my off the wall risk whole wad impulsive buys have come good. I like the idea of advertising the service if you get a few bites and the mower has sold you could still hire one to complete the work.
  3. Does it actually over heat or is it just a faulty temp sender. Could be chalk build up inside rad or dirt on outside of fins If it has been over heating head gasket could be gone as well now when its cold first thing remove rad cap and start engine and see if bubbles are coming up replace cap and see if it builds pressure within seconds before engine warms up. When it over heats is top and bottom hose hot and same temp roughly.
  4. That machine is a work of art I believe the best coffee is made with a burr grinder and fresh beans. I bought a gaggia burr grinder but its crap so use the taylors stuff. I been on here years is this not the generator forum then
  5. Espresso expresso who cares as long as its made right, don't drink too much, it makes you edgy irritable and short tempered
  6. I think of espresso as coffee that is passed through one of those group heads under pressure. Expresso to me is a small cup of strong black coffee with good creme on top.
  7. Best expresso coffee I found is Taylors expresso from asda or Sainsburys often on a deal for two. Have a gaggia at home
  8. I had a nero a couple of weeks ago well worth avoiding. I think it depends on the shop always get a good latte on oxford street in London.
  9. Costa can make a good coffee just depends on the staff. Since the initial boom alot of these places have gone down hill and lets face it if you are doing a 10 hr shift at minimum wage would you really care if you are making perfect coffee.
  10. I have about 8 pop butts to choose from. Most just over 22" wide as they wont fit through my wood miser. Must be 6-8ft long. Very few knots and straight most must be just above the root and taper out to 30" in some cases.
  11. I think the 2.0 litre diesel bmw engine is made in south wales but that engine is a sore point at the moment.
  12. Its rare to hear of piston or crank problems these days. Your more likely to kill an engine from ignoring a rising temp gauge or running low on oil. At 250k things like water pump and timing chains start to fail but not on merc in particular they have a good reputation and probably one of the best out there.
  13. A good point that never occured to me engine may also be glazed and coked up. Although I think high hours should be easy to spot from the rattles and condition of the kit. I have yet to confirm what these vans will tow. There is 6 tonne iveco on arb trader and that is listed as towing 2.2 tonnes. I dont really need large van with heavy payload but like the idea of twin wheel and towing 3500kg. twin wheel swb low roof 900kg payload would be fine 30 mpg would be good 20mpg forget it.
  14. I can see the need for timber products and boards. I was thinking kindling and logs would be my need.
  15. Hi Rob I will give it some thought the one on ebay he thinks he has sold it for £8000 inc vat if it falls through he will let me know. I probably only need something rough and ready unless I am going to do proper milling.
  16. Its a 2005 yr lt15 I think. Rare to find one this size with electric up down. Looking for £3500 . Has four bed sections and about 20 blades. I run it on a 60kva but I am sure a 20 kva would cope.
  17. That sounds like a good metre but I just need 2 readings Piss wet ready to go
  18. They do say your first loss is your best loss. When you start winging it somethings just get worse. Did you not have AA cover.
  19. Good find I have been looking for months on ebay cant even find completed listings. I thought 12k was too much for a new one. I was offered an old lucas mill with small blade for less than 2k should have bought it . I dont need a big blade only need to knock the wood down to 3x2 and dont need it to be accurate. Thanks for posting it up
  20. I am looking to buy. I would like to sell or swap my 3 phase woodmizer for a lucas mill but happy to just buy outright with no px. I think this would suit our kindling use better.
  21. Buy an old incinerator and cut a door in the end. Anything you make needs to be 6mm steel or more otherwise it will just buckle with the heat.
  22. Knowing my luck ea bundle would have weighed 305kg
  23. Still looking good always have 750kg on more if going big servicing. Been looking at these 58 IVECO TWIN REAR WHEEL PTO COMPRESSOR GENERATOR SERVICE FITTERS GROUNDWORK VAN | eBay Could even take my expresso machine
  24. I tried a vw but found everything in the wrong place. I put it down to me being 6ft 3 the vw bodies I think are more rust resistant but they seem to have a few problems with gearboxs according to my brother he has had 3 on his 57 plate.
  25. I wonder whether the cost of timber is making them cut more from a log or possibly not turning when milling so you end up cutting quickly but badly if that makes sense.
