  1. I never looked at it that way and you are right. The last few weeks we had our 53 plate compliant disco van it was on its way out and smoking around oxford street.
  2. The Lez was a big problem when it started because you needed a van around 4-5 years old. Now you can get something back as far as 2002 which is 12 years old. The rules for HGV are far worst it has forced some companies around here to change their trucks every year or pay £500 a day.
  3. I used to sell firewood and thought my 390 ok till I tried something bigger. A 880 will be an overkill 660 a bit heavy after a few hours anything less ideal.
  4. I think most of them are badge engineered. I would imagine the more expensive ones have a better mech for holding chain ( not plastic ) I bought 2 lidls ones 5 years ago and still using the first but it was nearly as cheap to buy a spare grinder than buy a disk.
  5. I cant these days describe how to test it but try a new cap yours may of failed during use.
  6. What about corrugated galvanished pig shelters. Make pile chuck em over 10 in a line with fan or wind blowing through.
  7. £90 a metre everyone around me selling at £60 a cube. sold none this year and delighted as I did not buy any cord in all I have is about 40 tonne or arb arisings and it can sit there till next year now.
  8. Normally its the £15 capacitor that goes first. There is a way of testing it but I am not going to say as you will defo hurt yourself. Your multimeter may be able to test if it does not give the figure its stuffed.
  9. If people bought there logs a year in advance they would not have a problem. There is a place for squashed sawdust but I cant see it replacing proper logs.
  10. If its the same 1300 series I am thinking we have worked on them since the early nineties. Think it was an American Nav star engine to start with. Seen plenty with timing gear problems cracked water pumps and turbos hanging off. I dont recognise the 6bta could be more of a truck engine. worked on lots of nta and KTTA 50 . Generally the Cummins is a better product but they have made the odd turd as well especially the L series and the latest small engines.
  11. We have cut them with a wood mizer to make kindling. They need to be about 6-8 ft long and max 22" across. We dont offer much as haulage normally kills it. Rings are no good. Where is the job roughly. This sort of thing is ideal straight without too many knots.
  12. It does work well. Our effort was only 40mm box and had 6in ind swivel castors on so you could push it about by hand on flat grass. When the sun moved round you could move it. was just big enough for 4x4 . I bent one of the legs because it was caught in the hedge nothing a few bits of angle iron and a mig wont sort out.
  13. The drawings are on a fag packet somewhere. something like high enough so you dont bang your head wide enough to get out a truck long enough to keep the frost off the screen bit of welding in the corners. Mk 1 has been great keeps the rain and sun off when using hyd log splitter and with out getting in the way. Unfortunately the wind was just too strong this year.
  14. I made mk 1 about 10 years ago out of 40mm box. A bit light but fine until last night. Trying to avoid the pockets on the bottom so I can push trailers in and out. I doubt mk 2 will blow away likely to be getting on for 300kg.
  15. Since my old one blew away last night. Anyone got any pics. I am thinking 75mm 3mm box sections. about 8ft wide 14ft deep about 9ft high with tin roof. I will put forklift pockets in the roof so I can move it with my 2.5 tonne telehandler. I am thinking several little units so I can get to the hedge behind and if I dont like where they are they can be moved. my place is a bit like a kids farm play set with concrete sleepers for hard standing if I change the business 2 days later its all rearranged.
  16. I thought they came with metal brackets for getting to the top. Thats me out mine are not accurately selected and customized.
  17. I think the weather is mild I have burnt 75% less oil than last year and probably half the logs. With so many people doing logs there is plenty of choice and the public want cheap. Until the cheap runs out its hard for you. I feel sorry for all you log guys its hard work and tight on margin at the best of times. Look positive and hang on in there we could still get some very cold weather. Summer seems to be june - October
  18. If I had a citroen it would be converted to screw driver all round.
  19. Just been out to generator in town centre sorted now off to bed. Still no power here.
  20. Thick rubber sheet is a good idea. If you fit isolation mounts it can be a bit of an experiment too soft and they can make things worse.
  21. Tried toughing out before starting the generator we lasted 25 minutes. I feel for people tonight especially with young children or the old and vulnerable. at least with power on you can drown out the wind noise. Never seen it so rough as this.
  22. The hondas are ok on wacker plates. Let us know how you get on with the copy.
  23. Thanks Jon:thumbup1: We are currently just managing to fill orders. We are kiln drying to 14% moisture to keep the quality. If anyone wants large quantities made through the summer let me know. We can only store about 2000 bags in the dry but turn out 20,000 bags a year so need to keep them moving.
  24. I doubt the fuel level is relevant but I know if the fuel level gets very low on our disco 4 it goes onto reduced performance. Could it be there is a faulty low fuel level sensor in the fuel tank.
  25. I use hotmax at home. verdo and hotmax both within a couple of miles of my home. The verdos I found twice the price and last longer but I could sit on the stove absolutely no heat.
