  1. I have just finished trimming my black thorn, hawthorn hedge so dont need gloves now but am going to buy some on your rec ready for next year. I spent an hour scraping a scalpal over my forearm you know that tick tick sound you know its in there but cant get it out. Turns out it was at 90 deg and 10mm long ouch.
  2. Hilux and new d max would be top of the list with every thing else trailing below. I would not even put the L200 on the list.
  3. I like the 526 as its not too big for our yard. The idea of loading 6 tonne of butts on a site 15 miles away appeals. Thanks for your advice I did not realise the ag specs came with brake line.
  4. Sounds more like a machine to move trailers between fields rather than distance. I think if I was going this route would be 2008 onwards and a big machine but I still dont think they come with break line.
  5. there is no rush just weighing up the options I have a 525 1986 with big front wheels. Seems cruel to put a trailer on but later machines may be more capable. I drove a 4 wheel steer jcb 526 the other day and was impressed especially for a sub £10,000 machine. purposefull not to big and not too many electronics to go wrong.
  6. Just wondered if anyone tows an ag trailer with handler. I am thinking I no longer have any tractors and dont miss them but must have a decent tele so why not collect a bit of my wood with it up to say 10 miles. Is it a bit hard on the transmission. I was looking for a compact 2.5 tonne machine but the bigger stuff looks better for the money. What put me off using ours on the road was the insurance 7 years ago was £1000 for road use and £1400 when lifting.
  7. That would be ideal for us but have no way of lifting on to our trailer. Looking for poplar up to 2ft diameter 8 ft lengths ideal up to 16ft.
  8. Poplar, birch, lime, Chestnut, beech
  9. Did one of ours last year dont remember taking the cross memeber off. But it is a bit lifted to say the least which is probably why it ate the prop in the first place.
  10. Open fire 80% of heat up the chimney 20% in the room. Log burner the other way round. If you want the heat its a no brainer.
  11. I thought maybe you have lots of lady friends then I scanned through this post and picked up on mistletoe, sex, resulting and female maybe my one tracked mind
  12. Better than getting your kit repossessed
  13. Looking for up to 300 in the south of england in good used condition to turn upside down and use as track.
  14. Its been a mild winter I would think there is a few people around with excess stock. Next year there will be less sellers and we will have a harsh winter. You cant win can you. Risk not thy whole wedge.
  15. So if I was looking for logs for next winter at £40-£70 for 1.6 metres or would I spend £200 on a load of beech and ash. All wood burns well when dry beech is not 3 times better.
  16. mostly but some splitting if its over 6" sticks as well
  17. If you get any in future post up as I am trying to get a used Lucas mill. My woodmizer only goes up to 2ft. Would like to plank and turn in to kindling.
  18. I was looking at steel roof sheets on ebay £1.75 per foot running 3ft cover done for 30 years.
  19. Yes still no logs no plans to go back in to logs but we do sometimes need to process into 6" for the kindlet.
  20. Looks like a well laid out quality bit of kit for the money but not seen one yet firewood processor TMS45 for PTO " Made in Germany" log Splitter Fendeuse | eBay
  21. Useful infomation sounds like getting on the test is more testing than the test
  22. I like the wing it idea then you dont make mistakes just adjustments.
  23. I did the cscs card years ago you could pass it even if you did not understand a word of english. I put several of my men through so we could install a generator on an irish site. The job was delayed 3 months by that time they had brought out a new test and ours was invalid a blind one armed monkey could pass it. completely point less waste of time and money.
  24. I was in abergavveny two weeks ago looking at a jcb 525 when the winds kicked off I was surprised they let us over the bridge. If I am in the area again I will give you a shout. Our kindlet has been superb and never let us down but sometimes a different machine does different timber better. I like the way our kindlett handles joinery off cuts and if it jams you can get into it without trashing lots of material. I thought about a 3 phase machine but with the right timber we struggle to keep up with our single phase machine. We have had 70 bags an hour at times with two people. With the wrong timber can get it down 25 bags an hour.
