  1. New neigbour moved in and asked about log prices we said trailer full 2cu metres £160. Reply was we used to pay £40 where we used to live can we borrow your trailer. I told them to hire one for £40 for the day ' were not paying that '
  2. The advantage to these systems is you can process all your timber through them. We have an old processor but the time it saves us I often think gets used maintaining and repairing it and half the timber is too big so we still need to get the chain saw out and ring it.
  3. Yeah I dont get involved with all the technical stuff . More a final quality control man
  4. The way we do it is process in the spring into vent 1.5 cu bags or into poly tunnel with concrete floor. Come delivery time scoop up with bob cat takes 4 minutes to load 2 cu metres means we can get 16cu out on a saturday with out breaking into a sweat.
  5. Pictures of logs and snow always give me a nice warm feeling. I think its the thought of the money.
  6. We have been selling ours for £1.50 + vat through the summer price needs to go up otherwise it wont be worth doing, the price of electric, bags and wood is going up all the time . I have a friend who is not vat registered who sells for £1.50 . Our bags sell to retail for between £3-£4
  7. I dont think the soft roaders will be robust enough for a work vehicle. I would imagine it will run out of traction off road with a chipper on the back. Due to the strange tyre sizes mud terrains often are not available. Alot of people burn clutches out on the crude double cabs so the diddy little clutch you get with a 2ltr will fry in a few seconds.
  8. Nature seems to do best by adding a bit of radiation and volcanic ash pollution dirt etc. A pallet and cover to keep of driving rain sorted. Considering the profit in logs I would say you have gone the distance already.
  9. Just gets better we have an indestructable 1998 thing. Can you still tow 2800 if you load the buck with a tonne.
  10. I have a Lancruiser faultless apart from the 17mpg av when towing and telephone no parts if you break it ( which we do ) defender may be cramped cold wet and slow but at least you can repair it with chewing gum and gaffer tape.
  11. How much do you have ? we are in Hampshire Happy to purchase a load. You could return with a load of kindling ?
  12. There was a problem a few months ago in that the sales literature for a hilux said 2800kg whearas the chassis plate said 2200kg. They may have sorted this out now which would be excellent news.
  13. I think you are all right I did not mean to critisis the sign writing. Makes no difference whats written on your van. An awkward customer is an awkward customer they will find any excuse to wiggle out of the bill. Just stand there politely with your invoice and explain you dont give credit and smile. Keep the high ground and walk away a winner.
  14. If you have had good service from your rodeo I would go for another. From what I have heard the others can be a disaster apart from the Hilux which tows very little.
  15. I seem to remember this was bacon and ash. We squash a normal fire lighter into the top.
  16. When you no longer check the relevant forum and just click on todays post everytime:biggrin:
  17. The problem with taking extreme measures is its likely to land you in court not them. Its a shame some customers dont realise the skills and risk and cost of investment involved with the work of removing large trees. Additionally they dont understand that arb arisings are not the same as nice straight 8" cordwood or that the majority of cost in logs is in the labour of processing.
  18. This just my view but what could have caused part of your problem is the log adverts on your truck. This may have alerted them to the firewood having some value and ten minutes later on the internet and its all worth tens of thousands of pounds. I have wondered recently what would happen to the electronics in a D4 if it got a blast of 240vac across the battery.
  19. £120 a metre it should be and would be nice. we are in a wealthy area £80 a cube was the norm last year cant see it breaking the £100 barrier. But who knows if cord is short and the winter is hard a kero stays high any thing is possible. People will always need to spend on the essentials shelter, heat, food, cider, fags, logs
  20. Ebay big can of worms sellers have had enough of being messed about on carriage and fleeced on ebay. Buyers sick of being fleeced and conned. The item may actually excist. If you purchase I would insist on collecting it and paying cash as its put on your truck. Dont be tempted to pay with paypal thinking its covered. It could be a clone of someones acct some of the scams generally have no reviews.
  21. Is this an ebay bargain going bad. I only ask out of interest as we stopped selling on ebay as I once had to take the day of work so a courier could collect someones £20 item. The courier never showed that day but the next when I was 100 miles away.
  22. cancel the collection and given a bit of notice i am sure someone will help out.
