  1. I sell the hotmax ones because they are only a couple of miles away. I like them for fast instant heat. I would not put them on my own stove if I had fully seasoned beech next to them. They are ideal for people with 6 inch stoves. I use them in winter to start my stove in the winter for an hour then let it go out till evening. Some of our customers take 1cu metre of logs and 15 bags of hotmax.
  2. Normally the price of kero drops in the summer. Not this year so far.
  3. He should be able to carry 1000kg which is 3 cu metres of dry logs.
  4. I think part of the reason for the riots is under the labour government benefits were very generous. Under the tory rule not as much fun is it might even need to get a job unfortunately the state of the country there is not many about. Karma would be if someone broke into their house tonight and pinched their new telly while they were out kicking off.
  5. About 18 months ago I had a 20 year old Lad help me for a week. He asked if he could do an apprenticeship on Large diesel generators. We looked into it and found we could have swung it even though he was in his twenties. The wage was £160 a week with 1 day at college. By the time we sat down to talk about it his confrontational attitude and catch phrases were grateing on me. such as too be truthful ( I am lying ) 'too be fair' ( I want more ) 'for sure' ( I have not got a clue ) When we offered the position he laughed of his seat and said he wanted £300 a week after tax minimum. I was glad to be out of that one. My point is some and not all young people have a very high opinion of their self worth. When at school they are treated like gods now by teachers and put on pedestals. When they leave and enter the real world they can become frustrated. Unfortunately the world does not owe anyone a living. Riots tend to occur when benefits are cut and people are struggling.
  6. I dont think they make one. But a fabricated one may make things better.
  7. 240v ac with very low watts. Or if you get one that has lots of watts it will kill your alternator and battery.
  8. Yes vented mesh top half never got round to putting it on the lower half. I am sure a clear roof would be better but not so sympathetic to the neighbours. Its amazing how quick wood seasons in a tunnel.
  9. Supply flourecent vests to be worn at all times about £3 ea. They can wear what they like underneath. They are actually quite useful especially if you have bobcats etc on site you can see people out the corner of your eye and can track their movements about site.
  10. We have a kindlett which is now two years old. We tend only to put joinery waste through because we have a good supply and the end result is better. Also we rarely stop for knots with par timber. I have seen the posch machine working and would buy the fuelwood again. Ours may not be the best machine for round wood but a gravity fed tray would help.
  11. it was 3 years ago
  12. We dont need to cut and split a year in advance now because all our customers will have read this thread and know they need to order a year in advance
  13. As of a couple of years ago all poly tunnels used for business need permission.
  14. Your john deere puts our 2140 totally to shame. Ours had done 12,000 hrs when the clock stopped years ago and is really battered.
  15. The fast tracks have a label no oil brakes above 20 mph above the connection on the back.
  16. I could but I am more interested in mods and improvements he has made that could be used on ours.
  17. Do you have any pics. Sounds like a good piece of kit.
  18. I have this crane trailer tend to use it for picking up my own cord wood or occassionally assist tree surgeons by removing timber. Has a 5 tonne crane which lifts about 2 tonne on full stretch. The Mog belongs to a friend but I normally hire a tractor for a week.
  19. Scratched around the first two winters looking for customers. After that more a problem of getting enough done to cope with demand. We tend to keep our heads down in winter first wiff of awkward customer run a mile.
  20. Proof is in the pudding if you use a chainsaw daily for 10-20 years without cutting any body parts off do you need basic training. If u go on a refresher for any trade 10% is useful 90% is fluff and padding. Do experienced middle age men need the same training as a school leaver.
  21. Do you have to pay extra for carriage
  22. I think you should go on a course to become a trainer. But then their probably isnt one. If you call yourself a trainer ( perhaps you are then like a god of the arb world) you then dont need to go on refresher courses. I have seen posts on here from students just out of college becoming trainers:confused1:
  23. If I get called again I am going to go in frantically scratching my privates and explain I have been to a pop festival over the weekend and may need urgent medical attention.
  24. you can be excused for 2 years after that it could be you
  25. Ifor williams only make the larger trailers with proper springs as far as I know not those rubber things which go hard with age. The bulk head does not look like ifor. I would say bateson or indespension. being a sad trailer spotter.
