  1. If there is nothing left in the whole I have little 10 tonne rams I think they are made by enerpac about 2.5 inches high extending to about 4". I use a hydraulic hand pump. when the ram grips the hole put a lifting strop round it. you can either use a scaffold pipe for leverage or forklift/ digger . If the footings are weak they sometimes break in half but that just helps if you dig out.
  2. I got dipped last year in a new discovery getting off the ferry from southern Ireland. I was running on fumes they poked around so much I thought they were going to hook out the sender unit. They gave up in the end and let me go. One thing worth a mention is when they deliver white and red in the same tanker they purge the line before delivery which mixes a bit of red with a bit of white. For this reason customs allow something like 5% red before they even think about a prosecution.
  3. Are you a single parent if so may be the grand parents could help. The other option is drop them off but get a child minder to collect and look after till 5pm. If you have a wife get her a small car its cheaper than taking time off work.
  4. A side line to something else that earns proper money.
  5. Dept work and pensions I think. Just in case you forgot not to sign on
  6. Gather info like how long your existing shed has been there and any proof if possible. Take photos of everything before you start especially if you knock it down. I have built sheds on a budget but in hindsight wish I had coughed the money for a proper job.
  7. Geoff I sat on a gonad this morning getting in a hilux its swollen like a very large wellsommer egg I get me camera On a serious note I hope that heals well for you Jams. A timely warning for everyone hedges always look safer than they are.
  8. Its hard balancing life and work. I have been in a position with lots of big jobs and knackered kit. I have also had big toys and no work. Best to be somewhere in the middle. The new truck looks tidy and can be left on the drive if you fancy skiving off for a few days in the summer. Good luck with the future I am sure things will come right with your positive attitude. I like nice toys and big houses and not the least bit interested in the negative opinion of others I earnt it I enjoy it.
  9. You may of answered your own question. I would look for a hilux double cab possibly a mk5 . Just my opinion but the rest cant touch them
  10. A new sling is £3.25 so I would imagine it could be cheaper especially if any fail as you will be buying new anyway.
  11. I think some of the manitou telehandlers have reversing fans. The other problem I have found is if people pressure wash from the wrong side it pushes the dirt further in to the matrix push it back out the way it came in and not to much pressure.
  12. How much roughly do you charge to check an endless 1 tonne 1 metre sling for lifting
  13. Last year our local commercial tip was taking wood waste for £10 a tonne this year £180. Last year we could not get joinery off cuts to make kindling. This year yard is full. I think wood chip was the new gold while the grants were around but now the bubble has burst. Can you not compost it and sell it to the public.
  14. That £500 inc all the posts as well and its all galvanised. I looked for a used set for about 6 months and gave up and just bought a new trailer.
  15. If it has a simple fuel solinoid it could be that. When the bobcat one failed it was on full chat and nearly threw me out the cab.
  16. Anything from an auction needs a good drop of looking at. If I selected 10 sets carefully at auction I would expect at least 2 to be stuffed and put them back through. I noticed cheffins are doing an auction for Winchester marine who have a depot in Lancs. Not sure if any of it is worth buying but grill them for info and make sure the stuff has been checked and run. I suspect the reserves could be a bit high but you never know. Avoid anything that is mod spec as the panels are a complete nightmare unless you budget to strip out and start from scratch.
  17. Could be electrical. Could be out of fuel. Could have fuel line rubbed through on chassis. Faulty immobilizer / key . Not sure if its as simple as solinoid at that age could be more complex.
  18. No I think it was a rolls c6 you are in with more of a chance with the rolls. The Dormans are not very sought after and difficult to move on even abroad.
  19. When my honda petrol claps out I was going to fit a used 2 cyl watercooled Yanmar or similar running around 2000 rpm. Plenty of torque and economical. Its a shame the chinese stuff goes off like this a bit more quality control and they could make a decent machine.

    Lidl

If you like lidl you will love Aldi even more
  21. When I first see an avant I thought it looked ok but expensive. Then I was on a job near winchester and see it bring great big butts of pop across a very boggy field then up a muddy 1 in 3 slope with out any problems or slipping, the butts must have been a good 700kg each. May be worth seeing if you had the biggest one they do last time and were the tyres top notch.
  22. I guess the celotex is the answer so it does not become a heat sink. Possibly the way to go for that application. My workshop tends to be unused for weeks with the odd running in and out. To try and heat that sort of mass would take time.
  23. I have never been warm stood on a concrete floor unless it was heated. I would be looking into a false insulated floor above the concrete but I am no expert I imagine you have done your research.
  24. I dont know much about the posch. But we have run a kindlet since 2009 and put about 70,000 bags through it. Nothing has worn out or broken and feels like the sort of the machine that gets handed down to the grand children rather than a cheap processor which is a 10 year consumable. The thing that sold the kindlet to me was the open grilled lid you can see trouble brewing and get in there quick and flick it out before it creates handfulls of mess. This means you have half a chance with slightly knotty wood. We tend to flick out any thing with a knot over 1/2" as it looks cack in the net. Our market in this part of the world is neater the better no market for random stuffed scruffy bags in the London commuter belt you know
  25. Yes I have snap on tools and I charge shed loads. My favorite makes snap on, Bahco, knipex, vice grip you can keep the rest.
