  1. A few months ago I would have been in the car and down to see you. I have gone a different route which hopefully should kick in this week. If it goes pear shaped I would be interested in a price delivered to andover on a wagon and drag ( cant get an arctic in ) We are interested in making it into Kindling. Have the trees been grown in a forest or in a line.
  2. Nice straight timber around 8-12" with no knots about 3 metres long. Not the crowns with 20 sticks poking out that tree surgeons call arb arisings

    what 4x4

The reason Landrover tends to be better off road is long suspension travel they can reach down on un even ground. Also They tend to get fitted with mud terrain tyres which I dont fit to a nice jap 4x4 as it would ruin the nice road manners. Not a problem on a defender it has not got any. I run discovery, hilux and Amazon 3 different vehicles 3 different jobs.
  4. You got sarcastic remarks because you came on a forum full of log merchants and accused them of being dishonest but its ok the wink on the end suggests your cleverer than that. Post 5 " Funny how suppliers never say "well it's a 0.7 cubic metre bag but it won't contain 0.7 cubic metres of logs." Maybe that would affect sales. But what would I know "
  5. 130 posts about a possible £10 worth of missing timber thats got to be a record. I bet we have investigated and interigated more than the police do after an armed robbery. So to sum up your better off buying off ebay from a picture of a big bag in cumbria and collecting it after paying with paypal ( assuming thats not the only big bag he owns )
  6. And the bloke on ebay still has not said whats in the bag
  7. Buy from people who specify the volume. Find someone local you can trust and stick with them. You get what you pay for. You are unlikely to find any bargains on ebay now with there high selling fees. Everything I have looked at on ebay this week costs a third more than from a normal person.
  8. But you cant quote a customer for a stacked cubic metre because if you stack it twice you will get a different result. Just to add something else into the mix we use 1.5 cubic metre bags if we use them a couple of times they stretch a bit and we always bounce them as we load them to settle the load. Tipped some this week into my tipper which is exactly 2 cu metres and each bag filled it to the brim. So if you think you are pulling a fast one doing bulk bags you may actually be doing the customer a favour. We always sell by the cubic metre and heap the load incase it settles on route so often a tipped load will be 2.2 cu metres rather than 2.
  9. Jon I thought early on in this thread this has to be a Butler wind up but now I have no idea this bloke might actually be serious. Still not as mad as some of yours Jon
  10. But thats how most people sell logs. Thats how you bought your 0.7 of a cubic metre.
  11. Anybody serious about selling logs will be taking green timber now for processing summer 14. The timber they have processed will have been bought end of 2011.
  12. Does that involve paying a fee to someone sitting in a warm office
  13. I think half the time domestic log customers are alot more savvy than they let on. If they cause hassle you will just give in and throw a load of extra logs in to keep them happy. We seem to live in a time if you complain you get something free and for some its an automatic reaction especially if they have the power of feedback or a review.
  14. I think the volume measurement is what has confused you. Best way in future may be to just " buy a load " or a tonne of logs.
  15. If you need to move it on a trailer make sure it fits. Our 6ft deck is off centre so needs a wide trailer.
  16. I think they take roughly the same as a transit but you can get some serious weight on them without it showing. I noticed the payload on a Toyota Dyna is a fair bit lower which is a shame as they look a cracking truck.
  17. I think I have a toro225d 6ft with recycler deck. Brillant if you cut once or twice a week but fortnightly you will see some clippings behind. Used to spend 2 hrs on a tractor mower now 25 mins. Not for sale though as may need it for the next house.
  18. Do you need to be paid with stacked logs or would loose be ok ?
  19. I am glad I only do kindling now
  20. ok 0.7 cu metre
  21. £50 for 1 loose cubic metre is half price but you still want it topped up by a 3rd for free. If you have tickets and are familiar with the trade maybe you should have asked if it was a stacked solid metre.
  22. We are on a forum you cant get much sadder than that you may as well get a plate
  23. Nooooo you cant say things like that on a Landrover site
  24. I know oil is now great and engines clean and perfect but when engine lube is cheaper than road fuel can you afford not to change it more regularly. These days I can actually feel the difference in a vehicle after a 10,000 mile oil change. In the past an oil change did not make alot of difference. The £10 for oil must pay back in no time with diesel at £7 a gallon. Oil seems to get dirty quicker these days especially with egr fitted to engines.
