  1. If they are rude enough to call a number on the tps register I am rude enough to use 4 letter words.
  2. If you want to put too many rings on a truck and get it across a soft almost boggy field The defender is the only truck for the job. Tipping half a tonne of logs all day and pricing work 60 miles away I would take the hilux.
  3. I can understand people liking defenders. What ever floats your boat but to say a Hilux is no good and the defender beats all jap pick ups. A lot of jap pick ups are a load of junk not all.
  4. Yes I got a reply think they have it sorted now.
  5. I converted all my hedge cutters to aspen. All but one husqy was fine I put it back to pump fuel and it would not start on that either. Eventually found the split in the fuel pipe hidden under a grommet. The problem was nothing to do with fuel but its easy to blame something you just put in the tank. Aspen is expensive but if you have alot of engines u use occassionally its cheaper than constant carb rebuilds pump fuel is now like acid it eats everything especially when it goes off.
  6. No I think you can still have children. The ratchet idea is a good way of getting a bit more use out of those badly ripped corroded ones that look scruffy on your truck.
  7. you dont see an installer with old van or kit. I gave it some thought about 2 years ago but fancy a rest from dealing with the public.
  8. Yes they are all prone to it. With a chainsaw you can run with it and cut bananas but in a wp the bar is fixed and can only go straight down. As the problem starts it starts wearing the bar on one side which just compounds the problem. I used to tickle it with a file 4 times then off to the bench.
  9. Very good game to be in customer showed me the invoice for her stove £400 then with flue and fitting total bill £3500 all done by lunch time. No wonder they are looking for cheap logs. Stuff cutting up wood where did I put that MEWP
  10. I should be alright thanks got a wood burner and a couple of spare generators and an off sw on the mobile
  11. No missed it in my game you would think I would make the effort to see it. I guess it was sensationalised which will mask the small problems we may get.
  12. I was born and bred in Mytchett My middle school was believe it or not St Tarcisius or something similar in camberley. Lived in Andover for 30 years but Mytchett still feels like home.
  13. I remember 1973 ( just ) and 1986 we shall see.
  14. I find stock board really heavy and it goes out of shape and losses strength in the sun. I like the phenolic board they use on trailer floors.
  15. I went to school in camberly and remember the siren it was very eary they used to test it once a week. They were always getting out
  16. With the evoke I think they were trying to shake off the London cab look. The evoke is a very heavy little car with no head room in the back. Range rover sport is a RR with half a boot. disco 4 is a 4x4 transit

    what 4x4

I keep hearing Ford have got better but. I bought a new ford transit once and it was a PITA from start to finish. Tried 4 different dealers in the area all hopeless got rid in the end and vowed while I have a hole in my butt would not buy another. Still got the hole
  18. doors that stay on and a heater that works unfortunately few people want to make work trucks not enough profit and too many warranty claims.
  19. When was the old one ever cheap. As has been said 30 years too late apart from tree surgeons everyone else has bought a double cab pick up.
  20. If you can make a 250% mark up on kindling may be its worth getting logs the same way. Alot of cheap imported timber around. Timber merchants are pricing cord so high what choice do you have.
  21. Have you asked TKO on this forum He has a thread free firewood at the moment they are around that area.
  22. As many know we have almost packed logs in altogether but thought I would show my costings this year might help keep the prices up so its easier to make a living. 1 Tonne of delivered cord = £65 Bar oil, chains and equipment £10 Road diesel £10 3 hours labour inc del sharpening and clearing up £30 Total £115 You now have 1.5 cubic metres of loose logs in your truck and its cost you £115 now most businesses want to make a 100% mark up on stock so why dont we. You will notice above I have included nothing for rent, rates, insurance or vehicle depreciation and possibly many other costs . £115 + 100% mark up = £230 Now round our way they sell 1.5 cubic metres for £100 thats why we have given it up.

    what 4x4

Since the recession took hold its more important than ever to pick the right vehicles. You need a company that still takes a pride in making a tough reliable product. Some design them to make it through the 3 year warranty then produce a steady stream of easy to fit failing parts that cost a fortune. They dont feel they make enough on the purchase price so ring you out afterwards wriggling out of warranty claims etc.
