  1. Sorry should have said 8 wheeler lorry. I had a big timber trailer with 10 tonne crane but did not have the big tractor or enough work so sold it such is life.
  2. If you spend money on repairs then dont get 3k you could have kept it as it then only owes you 2 grand. I think I had a quote for a new one 6 months ago for £3500 + vat but could be wrong.
  3. From the first tonne you collect. £20 roadside verses £45 tonne road side for hardwood its a no brainer. Unless you intend to supply the log snobs in the future its only for your own use. Get 2.5 tonnes on an ifor and try it on the fire
  4. If I can afford it I try and go new. You can spend a £1000 on tyres brakes bearings cables etc and it still looks tatty.
  5. Thats the clever bit cutting it with skill, drying, storing and finding a buyer for it all of which I still need to learn. I am a newbie Jonathan has the experience.
  6. You dont get slab wood in rounds so need to worry about that. If its 20% moisture it would have been a tonne when green so if you buy for £20 its a bargain. You should get 1.5 -2 cubic metres out of it.
  7. I think my blades are £30 and last about 2 hrs which does not sound a lot but if it takes a minute per cut thats 120 cuts. On the the other hand some of my blades last a few minutes I have found someone local who will sharpen and set for £8
  8. Nice stick of oak or ash worth £150 for firewood or £500 if you turn it in to planks or posts.
  9. much cheaper tyres on the tt85 as they only have to go to 2600kg cross plies I think nice and cheap at replacement time luckily as I need 4. Just replaced the wheels and tyres on the tt105 cost about £300
  10. the bigger trailer is also lower
  11. Customers should think of it as training and hire. Your knowledge for the day will save them alot of wasted time.
  12. The 10x5 ifor tipper is the best towing trailer I have used. U just dont know its there. Tows well behind our hilux mk 4 I dont use our 16ft ifor as it just takes too much load and its too easy to squeeze 3 tonne on without even heaping.
  13. I have nothing against Landrover and have a disco van for work but have an Amazon for family use. You need to own one to see where the money goes and experience the reliability. Its no good picking up miss information off the net or listening to a mouth down the pub. If you have a busy business family and a few quid in your pocket get a Landcruiser. If you are skint have plenty of time on your hands and like meccano get a defender.
  14. Competant skilled experienced trusted aquaitences yes. Beginners, inexperienced animal types no. Just learning to use my LT15 and would say 1st couple of hours hard on machine especially blades. Not done it yet but would say its easy to cut the tops of some metal etc.
  15. My wife thinks that 3 " on top of what I already got would be far too much. If we compare I think you will find yours is a third longer than mine and the turning circle aint great ea to their own your a Landrover man so your not going to like a Toyota anyway.
  16. If they have the wood for free in the garden or from arb arisings and he does 6 cu metres in a day thats £26 a metre. Why would they not pay that. Supply and demand less people want to break their back cutting logs than climbing trees
  17. Burns fairly fast but good heat. Local saw mill used to supply a big bundle about 8ft long by 4 ft for £5 but in recent years with bio mass I expect that has rocketed as well. If they want more than £30 for a cut bag may as well go for hardwood.
  18. I think there is a big difference between being a yes man and I Quote someones post " we sat like sharks waiting for a post " You will always have difference of opinion but thats different to trolling through looking for a fight. There again I could be for the chop in the morning
  19. Dont drink and post. If you have ever stood at a bar alnight you will know blokes come in sober talking cobblers and it goes down hill from there.
  20. I cant think of one vehicle I like the Americans make. Too big too thirsty and badly made.
  21. That Landcruiser pick up should be £25,000 new and probably is in Oz compared with their earnings. 25k and the steering wheels on the wrong side. I bet they would be poplar over here in rh drive for 25-30k. The lc is not bomb proof and its expensive to repair but it gets used for jobs that would kill a defender in a week.
  22. £1600 for 1 mirror. Have you felt the weight of the door mirror on a lc100 series. If you went mirror jousting on country lanes I think you would win hands down. No need to give way to RR now
  23. My tipper body is exactly 2 cu metres. We use 1.5 cubic metre strip vent bags. One of them nearly fills the truck. Verdict they stretch especially after a few uses.
  24. Or 1% cause 100 % of the problems
